Started playing Sun for realsies yesterday. I'm pleasantly surprised at how much harder it is compared to X/Y and ORAS. The Totem Gumshoos was a problem even when all my Pokemon were at least three levels higher than it. Hala, too. The battles actually made me think about strategies, and not just input the most supereffective move.

The music is absolutely wonderful. I especially like the meadow theme, as well as the Kahuna battle theme. The customization options, though, are absolutely criminal. Clothing options are definitely a step down from XY's, except maybe the superexpensive stuff.

Something I also noticed abo the battles is that everything has even a little bulk to stand up to anything you throw at it, so speedy attackers like, say, Rockruff, are a bad matchup against most Alola mons, even against not very effective moves. I think it's part of a plan to slow down the metagame, so to speak, by introducing slow, powerful Pokemon.

Currently at Heahea City, and can't decide between getting Fomantis or Bounsweet.

Its help that the starters have terrible speed. Which means you can't force your way through every enemy with level 60s starter, unlike past gen.

I still managed to have Incineroar defeat 80% of the pokemon I encountered though, just had to switch him with the demo's Ash Greninja and an Eviolite Magneton every now and then. Those three were terrible against fighting types so thankfully Solgaleo was there near the end of the game to help alleviate that.

The thing is, most older starters outspeed most of Pokemons if they were 5+ level higher, so they can swept them all without taking damage. Alolan starters, while strong, outspeeded by other Pokemons even they have superior level, so your starter still take hit most of the time.

Huh, so threw a Quick Ball at the Sun Lion to be cheeky. It worked.

Huh... that's... disappointing.

Story legendaries generally have a catch rate of about 40 and quick balls have a 4x multiplier on the first turn (other legendaries and the metagross line have a catch rate of 3)

plug that into the standard catch rate formula and shake probability and shit and you actually end up with a 21% chance of catching the title legendary with a quick ball

But Bulbapedia tells me Solgaleo actually has a catch rate of 45 so it's actually a 23.5ish percent chance. Pretty decent actually.

this doesn't account for the chance that you might land a critical catch



Edit: If anyone can grab me a hidden ability Vulpix (preferably modest but I can breed if I have to), I have a Jolly 6IV Beldum or Aerodactyl for you. your choice

Come to think of it it did work like that yeah, I guess that might be part of the reason why there are no easily obtainable leftovers anywhere in Sun/Moon, so the starters at least take some damage forcing the player to switch them sometimes.

Necrozma is a legendary pokemon, not an Ultra Beast, so even though it's not a cosmog evolution, it could be the title legendary for the 3rd version (Pokemon Stars?) So I guess 3rd version is more likely than S2M2

Christ, Mareanie goes crazy quick on the GTS. I can ask for nearly anything and it'll be gone within minutes. I wonder if I could fill my pokedex just by trading these things
