Fate/EXTRA Last Encore

My experiences with Nero have been Extella and GO, so I can't say I'm looking forward to a series with her being the main Servant. But besides that, I'm definitely interested, especially in the possible time loop stuff, and I like the idea of a Fate anime where no one knows where it's going.

but this ep is so good

Watched it for the third time now, really interesting.
I wonder how Nasu is gonna portray Nero's character in this series.
Her regular EXTRA character arc was probably already done in the first run with Hakunon, so I'm reallly looking forward to how Nasu is gonna write Hakuno's and Nero's relationship here.
Can't wait for next week!

So apparently Kooritsukai didn't translate the after credits scene, so the subs from that come from the earlier guy who wouldn't seed

Sadly I was talking about the episode with some people who watched the subs and there were some worrying discrepancies between what they apparently read in the subs and what I heard the characters actually say so unless it was a memory failure on their part hmmm

Hmm, the episode 1 is very interesting, there's a lot of information can be analyzed and I'll write it here.

1ST

1.Mumei(?) or Emiya(?) (whatever) planned to make Hakuno summon Nero - PROBABLY
The question mark behind the name means his identity is not determined, I'm too tired to add these question marks and if you know its meaning that's OK.
Well, I thought Mumei(?) was an enemy program at first until I saw him smiling at the very end of the episode. It looks like he planned everything and it goes well.

It's unlikely Mumei(?) is trying to kill Hakuno (He would aim at Hakuno's head or heart if he wants Hakuno dead.)
Instead, he shot Hakuno's stomach in mind, It's not lethal and he is guiding Hakuno to the Limbo (Where Nero's theatre is located)

When Hakuno reaches the theatre, obviously Mumei(?) is pushing Hakuno to get the sword(Aestus Estus). That explains why Mumei(?) is walking to Hakuno without attacking him.
When Hakuno is reaching the Aestus Estus, Mumei(?) is acting like the bad guy for the last time, he finally makes Hakuno get the sword and summon Nero.

I saw some comments on 4chan saying that this scene of the first episode is similar to the SN. However, after comparing the scenario in the EX and SN. I would say it's totally different.
Although either of these work has servants hunting the protagonist, Cu in SN is actually trying his best to kill Shirou, his attacks are lethal in the first place (Stab Shirou's Heart, stab Shirou's head in the second attempt)/ Cu never stop attacking Shirou.
Compares to Cu's action. Mumei(?) seems more 優しい, and you can notice the differences here.

Yeah Extra originally gave this "what the fuck is going on, this isn't the Fate I know" feeling to FSN fans on purpose and that's kind of worn off over the years so it's nice to have it back


Also rewatching it I realize that I was too dumb/looking away to refresh the thread too much to realize the name screens turning from orange to white probably doesnt mean dying, lol oops well that changes my whole perception of events then

The only big thing I noticed is that Kotomine calls Hakuno the 290th Master in the subs, when he is supposed to be the 129th. What were those discrepancies?

They were also saying the subs said 290th but I downloaded that .ass file and it said 129th, did they fix it or are there multiple subs out?

They said something about Kotomine saying "memories of the grail war have been lost" at the end or something (rather than the grail war itself being long lost)

Watched it with subs. It was very SHAFT, which is nice, as Extra needed their touch to become anything worth watching. Unfortunately it's also really ugly.

Time loop seems obvious at this point, what with the first scene, Nero's introduction, and Emiya's smile. I guess this means pink really is Tamamo.

The subs I watched said memories too. I assumed it was about the time loop.

Just watched the ep, have to say I quite enjoyed it. And am intrigued for what to come.

Also Saver is a boss, yay. Hopefully Saver Gacha sooner then later.

I wonder if Rani's dialogue will be in any way colored by the events of that MB manga. If she wasn't cut outright.

As a Buddhist I don't like the idea of ppl pouring money into gacha to summon Buddha.

Episode 1: SHAFTASTIC! - If you allow me the bad word game.

Impressions:

- Yeaaaah this is the SHAFT that I know.

- Ok, even as a player of the original game I was like "What the fuck is going here?". Is a good feeling sometimes. Props for that.

- Probs for make see to Saver as a true threat.

- I would say that is not kind with the new viewvers, but the thuth is that is not kind with anyone.

- So, is probably that this Hakuno is FHakuno that lost in the Final Boss fight.

- So, they are in Moon Cell or go there yet.

- Aparently the Mumei Statue was more that mere cameo.

- Is not girls time yet, Hakuno, fuckers...

- I sure that Pink Hair is Tamamo, seeing close the hair and the eyes color. Who is the VA, isn't Saito?

- With the amount of hype in this the bet is in the air, is fly or fall from here.

- "Are you my Master?", yeah, I can't have enough of that. I would like to see it someday with men. You know, with Arthur and Gilgamesh (even If I think that is not in the original).

Considerations:

1) Fucking called it that Nero was Hakunon's servant before and that they lost to Saver;
2) Pink hair is suspicious, but instead of be it Tamamo or Kiara I think she is just there to be the 4th week Master. However, both things could be mixed and she acts as a solo servant to help Hakuno;
3) EMIYA smiling leads me to think that the HGW loop is happening from a while now, and in one of these loops Hakuno might've contracted with him. Also, looping apparently can change your Avatar's gender, because Nero seemed to know Hakuno;
4) The fact that Hakuno is the 129th master gives the story a 180° twist from all other Extra versions, as now not only there is no way to make the bracket tournament format work until the end but also it means there is an unknown new master who will probably be importante (which might or might not be pink hair)
5) This here is more of a philosophical analysis but it is interesting to think that when Hakuno is us, the players, he manages to reach Saver and defeat him in the first try, as if we were the soul he received as an NPC and that allowed him to rise to victory. Here, where he is only Hakuno Kishinami, not the "player", he is stuck in a cycle of unsurmountable defeat, that is, until we observe his struggle (watch the anime) as he (probably) reaches triumph, like if we were some kinda Zelretch, choosing the most favorable timeline by observing it.
