Aside from the girls' eyes, which are definitely on the creepy side, it was a rather decent episode.
Twice cameo, Leo killing through chess, Shinji has a girl. No butt window (except for Nero back flip) is a let down though.
Just watched the episode. I think this was the first I actually got the charm of Umu. Now let's see whether her having dialogue where she doesn't have to be bad ass will make me change my mind
It may be a little early, but following your first impression what do you guys think Shaft did better than Ufotable? And Ufotable compared to Shaft?
Animation wise? No. There were lot of parts in this episode I felt were kind of mediocre in terms of directing. But when stuff needed to be atmospheric like the opening and ending scene, I think they were pretty top notch
This first episode was better but that's because the first episodes of Zero and UBW are atrociously bad.
And it's really early to have this conversation.
Of course, I don't want to compare which one is the mpst beautiful technically, but like you said atmosphere, art design maybe, and storytelling, stuff like that. (Knowing that it's way to early to talk about storytelling seriously.)
Ufo is prettier, though not by much.
SHAFT has better visual direction, fluid animation and is overall more captivating. This works for Extra best since the setting of the moon cell is emphasized a lot.
They are trying to do different things. I don't think you can really make a comparison.
Shaft got lucky and have a better Saber to work with than Ufo. Yes, Nero>Artoria. I said it and won't take it back.
