This is from my personal experience, but you should be direct with your questions. Questions like "Why do you think about it that way?" or "May I know why?" are way better than putting a "not trying to be rude bro" after assuming what the other person is thinking. No need to feel bad or anything, I get misunderstood and misunderstand others quite often not just here but IRL. Just need to be careful next time.
