Well, for immediate example, there was another scene later on where they're showing more of her rapestory that's a flashback and lasts for significantly less time, with less gory detail, but covers the same ground in getting the point across

I think a similar approach could have been considered in regards to that first scene's content where they decided to get graphic for, as far as i'm concerned, the sake of being graphic

There's actually plenty of Not Good with lingering. For one thing, it has some unbelievably clumsy dialogue, even for a series where everyone who isn't Touko should just shut up.

Wanna talk about creepy, let's talk about Mikiya already being friends with Keita. I understand that the whole of KnK exists to rotate around Ryougi and Kokutou, but it's a little jarring, since I tend to judge people for the company they keep.

Mikiya is the hidden evil boss.

He's not his friend, he's the clingy underclassman from a couple of years back that turned street. Remember that prototype Arihiko asked him to check up on him as a favour. And even then there's no way to miss the shiny glasses of cold disdain for how discordant with what we've seen of Mikiya they were when Keita was all "yeah, we'd been raping her for a good while, but it just got stale fast ya know?".

I don't recall if it's said outright by another character, but Mikiya's ability to remain unaffected in his judgment by things like his kouhai being a rapist hoodlum and his schoolmate is a drug-dealing lion with a passion for stalking photography, or his resolve to associate with and just wait night after night outside the house of a potential serial killer to prove they're not a murderer, is pretty extraordinary by itself. Despite his origin, or maybe because it is his origin.

I wasn't saying that Mikiya approved of his new lifestyle, but that it's still somewhat creepy that he knew him beforehand. Keita didn't get a Tragic Backstory, so my assumption is that he never was a pillar of the community.

Nyeh, I assumed that he'd fallen in with bad crowds after getting older. But the level of socialisation on Mikiya's part isn't mentioned either.

And yes, it all goes back to how he's the ultimate in unconditioned acceptance of reality, but the conduct that that forces on him plays havoc with the notion of "Actually Normal Guy". That Void stresses his exceptionality in face of that is an evident jokey statement about his status of normalcy in a world of precious and murderous snowflakes, not a hint for some alien mentality.

Put it differently, there seems to be an unresolved tension created by his double-edged purpose, as both Some Guy In Love and as bodhisattva for the rest of the cast.

There's an inherent division between the self and the directive impetus of the Origin, and the possibility of the former is subsumed into the latter, with the obvious results. The self versus a preternatural force; it's what Void calls the personality that is developed by the brain and the 'personality' that is derived from the body, only in her case the latter is literal. But in any case, the actions of the self inevitably fall in line with the Origin's underlying influnce; in Mikiya's case, his directive of "normality", and being someone who can never cause harm to other people.

Only, that in itself - a human who can remain unchanged no matter what, accepting all without causing harm to anyone (jury's still out on whether stabbing Alba should be considered in the light of extreme stress or hurr durr magi aren't people) - cannot be said to be normality. Even if his everyday actions can be thought of as a mirror that slightly exaggerates the proportions of its reflection, it's in the moments where his perseverance, unlimited goodwill, and overall saintliness go beyond the bounds of the expected and rational, that we can see the exceptional in their irrationality. In spite of being a guy that obviously knows what's right and wrong, and features the full range of human emotions including fear in the face of danger and disgust at something vile; and it's not like his irrationality is merely driven by love, as it doesn't always involve Shiki.

Also, for all that magi or MEoDP-having assassins or people with awakened Origins call Mikiya normal, they also acknowledge that while he's not a being of their caliber in ability or power or what have you, he still isn't just another dude on the street (see the conversation before Lio forces the superweed on Mikiya, or Touko musing about his super detective skills and role as a balancer in the group). And perhaps it's because he's such a being of conceptually driven unconditional acceptance that all kinds of crazies flock to him like he's a beacon, or rather an anchor to them.

I watched the Hollow Shrine Kara no Kyoukai movie. I think this is the point where I officially like it. The first one was intriguing and disorienting. The second was morbidly fascinating. The third was... the third... And I really liked this one, yeah.

It's a shame she didn't keep the hair for a bit longer.
