What TM stuff are you reading/watching/consuming?

Finally started playing Tsukihime. I've been insistent on avoiding spoilers up until now although I have a passing familiarity with topics that have already been openly talked about. I did the Arc routes first and decided an order on what interested me next from there, so I've just finished Akiha just now.

How vampires manage to operate in the midst of society feels like the conventions of an outdated slasher horror, being what set things into motion. Shiki's bouts of madness definitely make him feel like a wild animal who's instincts have been placated by the flow of daily ordinary life, makes sense how Arc is super convinced that he must be an experienced serial killer, and I can see again just how much Nasu loves recycling concepts with the whole Shiki/SHIKI overarching mystery that's a lot more glaringly obvious in english.

Akiha being jealous of Shiki flirting his bromance with Arihiko makes that another one on the wishlist with Shinji route. Yumizuka plain freaked me out with how sudden her sporadic appearances are and the strange description of her presence but it makes sense given the crush she has on a guy that can barely bother to remember her existence in hindsight I guess. The "fight" against the supernatural vampires are surprisingly very simple, it's basically Shiki catching everyone off guard with how inconceivably bullshit his eyes and instincts are moments before realizing it.

How do you like Shiki?

I remember kind of being a little underwhelmed on the fact he's so normal outside of his instincts making him go kill things sometimes.

As for me, mostly consuming the Case Files LN volumes. And the Redline manga and whatever comes out for the Requiem LN translations.

I like him. His grip on reality and basic values make his perspective intresting when his involvement into the supernatural every night steadily reveals his own abnormalities and how it ties back to the Tohno household.

So on that front it doesn’t bother me since it feels purposeful for the story and narrative, since he’s always unknowingly repressing himself despite not understanding his own body and the experiencing confusing dreams that make him doubt his own sanity.

one of the things i liked best about tsukihime was that kinda denpa atmosphere thats especially prominent in Hisui route.

Just finished Tsukihime and am about to start Plus Disk. Overall I enjoyed it but the amount of identical or near-identical scenes is really mind-numbing. Other than that I also felt that most routes after Ciel (which had a lot in common with Arcueid's) were kinda similar in way to the previous one until near the climax. The last, Kohaku's, route was thankfully was a exception to this and I really liked its twists. I think the scene I liked the most was the beginning of the epilogue of Hisui's true ending, despite having already been spoilered about all that was revealed I found that scene very impactful. After finishing Kohaku's route and eclipse I felt some sort of sense of accomplishment after finally seeing the whole story through until the end just like when I finished HF in FSN. I must say Nasu is really good in invoking this kind of feeling.
And now for the last my ranking of the heroines:
Hisui > Arcueid > Akiha > Kohaku > Ciel
And of the routes:
Kohaku > Arcueid > Hisui > Akiha > Ciel

I've been slowly getting into Fate/Stay Night--I've seen the movies of Heaven's Feel but not played through the VN completely--and I'm really enjoying the experiences so far!

I finished re-watching the 2006 Fate/Stay Night anime. It was just as fun as before I think, and I still really like it. It refreshed my memory about a lot of things. The ending is really bittersweet.

I want them to be together, but they can't be...

The characters made more expressions and faces that you would see in other anime and then there's the ufotable adaptations that don't do that. I suppose they're more serious? I mean I see them in Demon Slayer all the time though.

I really liked Kenji Kawai's music in the Fate/Stay Night anime and in Gundam 00, it's very good. Then you have the ufotable adaptations and their soundtracks. Besides Archer's theme, I don't think any of them are real memorable and I don't think many of them have actual names either.

Those black tentacles that came from Sakura in Caster's temple, was that the same stuff in the movies?

I'm also planning watching the Unlimited Blade Words movie and reading as much of the Fate/Stay Night manga that's translated. I stopped at around 7 because there were not any more books that were translated at the time, but there's apparently more online. And after that, I'll watch Fate/Zero again.

I re-watched the Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works movie yesterday. Only this time I actually know about the stuff they cut out for the movie though. This was also how found I about Archer's true identity the first time I watched. I didn't get the whole deal about the pendant he had and the pendant Shirou had until they explained it. There were other signs too, but I didn't know until they outright said it. It was nice seeing those designs in a movie, and it was pretty fun to watch again.

The last time I looked and the anime was like 2-3 years ago, and there were only the number of the tracks back then I think. And it's like the only one I actually remember now. Like thanks, I wouldn't have checked if you didn't say anything.

I reread Red Demon God the other day, and I started in on the Kara no Kyoukai movies again.

The only thing I dislike about RDG is that there isn’t more of it. I find Kiri way more interesting than Shiki, but that’s probably not fair because I have only experienced about 25% of Tsukihime. I keep telling myself I will finish it, but so many of the cast members bore or annoy me. I want to like Tsukihime more than I do.
