    But... But...

Kairi's motives are entirely different from Kiritsugu's. And he's far less edgy of a person than Kiritsugu. And their partnership is actually functional and beneficial, unlike Kiritsugu's and Saber's.

Besides, the edgier version of Saber is Saber Alter.

Excuse me there's an issue with this analogy. Mordred has force lightning unlike Kylo. She's clearly the superior Sith.

Woah now, edge didn't exist back in Arthur's time, remember! Alter is a tragic heroine, who was betrayed by the world and was forced to abandon her ideals, shifting into the curse of darkne-oh jees what'd I just cut myself on? Wow, this backstory is really sharp! Someone could get seriously injured with it :^)

Imo Apo definitely has some highlight. The thing that kinda works against Higashide is how forced Sieg/Jeanne feels as a main characters/couples. The story was definitely good with the direction of Mordred/Kairi playing the wildcard while we get to see different perspective of the fight, then it got really badly paced and all over the place starting at the end of volumn 2. The last volumn feels like Higashide were trying to tie too many loose ends at once, and it's kinda feel forced.

I like Higashide's choice of clash betweens ideals and "themes", for example Amakusa vs Jeanne is definitely a very well-thought choice for me. I also like a lot of the cast in Apo and wish they'd have more screentimes/more depth, but writing multiple characters at once seems to not be a forte of Higashide, something Gen and Narita do way better. Jack, Astolfo, Sieg are honestly not to my liking at all. The rest of the servants are good in their own right and deserves better.

If you're a fan of Type-Moon, i think you should read Apoc. It offers an interesting what-if scenario, and some nice lore/worldbuilding bits. Who knows you might end up liking Jack

Edgy might have been a poor word choice.

I was talking about surface traits when I was comparing Apo and Zero.

I just feel as though Apo took the stuff people thought was cool and badass about Zero and tried to do more of it.

    spoiler
I can't be the only one who was reminded of the fight with Caster's giant squid monster when the servants were teaming up against the super golem?

I think Apo is actually a lot like Extra.
    Structurally very organized and defined.
There's a lot of deep stuff but that's all put near the end.
Shallow character exposition for a lot of the characters.

The gameplay in Apocrypha is incredibly simple and repetitive. Literally just the same thing over and over for hours at a time.

    I liked what was translated.

Spartacus is the best thing going in Fate

    Fate Grand/Order ID: 102947414/GreenBob
JetKinen's tries very poorly to translate a brazilian book

Don't get me wrong I think you should read Apo, it's entertaining and I might even go so far as to call it good, but I just know that if it gets an anime adaptation Zero only's are going to go on about what a masterpiece it is an how it's so much better than f/sn, and that thought hurts my ability to enjoy it somewhat.

I'm still in the process of reading Apo.

It's pretty funny. Astolfo's fickleness is funny, Gordes's stupidity is funny.

I read it only for Amakusa, Semiramis and Gordes, everything else is boring.

The notoriously unreliable wiki and TV Tropes are not good substitutes for actually reading the material.
