    Is Apocrypha Good?

So I've been on the fence here for about a month (I don't know what the hell I'm doing) about whether I should go ahead and read the damn thing. I've finally some free time and I wanted to know-is it even good? Like, I usually see praise for the story for a single post, followed by at least seven different complaints about either some dude's pink hair or
This wouldn't normally be a problem for me, but the sheer ratio of admiration to hate for the thing is really high from what posts I've been looking at. Is this worth my time?

You should add a poll to the OP so that all of the people too lazy to post can stop by and leave their vote.

For the record, my answer is yes. I'm interested so he the full message of Higashide's treatise on immortality, and I like most of the characters and action as well.

I've tried reading an online translation here and there. It's good. Solid, easy to read prose, likeable characters (Astolfo!) and cool battle scenes. Never managed to read it from start to finish though since other things kept coming up and distracting me. If you have the free time, I'd suggest giving it a shot.

My answer is no. I hate Astolfo and Jackie is Jackie, but... story is dull in general. It's trying be cool too hard and it fails. Most characters are underdeveloped and power levels means nothing when it count. Also everything around Sieg is plainly bad writing.

My advice: go read it now, it has Kairi and Mordred it doesn't matter that everything else is bad.

disregarding that powerlevels shouldn't matter and shouldn't even be a thing since "powerlevels" are something fans make after the fact.

    Power levels never mattered.

All the power in the world is simply a tool used to tell a story. Power is subordinate to story and should stay that way.

I don't actually read it (tried to but lost interest) but I rarely see people talk about stuff other than powerlevels when it comes to Apocrypha.

people talk about what they care about. If the majority of people who follow or read apo only talk about powerlevels that's fine. At the same time that's only a reflection on the people who talk about it, rather than the work itself. You can talk about the characters and themes if you feel like it.

Basically, saying that Apo is BAD because I DO NOT BELIEVE THE "POWERLEVELS" FIT WHAT I BELIEVE THE "POWERLEVELS" SHOULD BE is bad and not valid.

Saying, I DON'T LIKE Apo because I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE POWERLEVELS" FIT WHAT I BELIEVE THE "POWERLEVELS" SHOULD BE is valid.

    I agree.

Undefeatable 2/3rd god king of Uruk with all the legends and inventions in the world loses in close combat to modern day kid who can copy swords? Man this makes no sense.

Wait that wasn't Apocrypha, that was F/SN's most frequently praised route...
    Ragnarok, come day of wrath

    To hasten the Divine's return.
    O piteous Wanderer.
