Lancer carved the roots of the nemeton with the symbols of Lugus. She had just had a run in with Archer and she needed to center herself spiritually. She had thought all of the knight class were honorable but instead she had fought that trickster. Combat was supposed to be a fight between two opponents baring their should to each other but instead he had fought like a coward and then ran away. She centered her breathing and then stood up. There really was no need to get her head stuck in the past.
She turned back and saw Saber standing there. “Hey Saber! You know you didn’t have to wait for me.”
The nervous mountain of a man was wringing his hands. “Y-yeah, but I mean I don’t have much else to do so… Anyways have you finished your rituals then?”
“Yup! I’m all spiritually balanced now. Master said that we don’t have anymore plans until later tonight and they’re safe in their little hole; want to go out? We obviously can’t go to far but there’s still plenty to do.”
“O-of course! Where would you like to go? That ice cream place from Monday was really fun, and you said you wanted to try laser tag.”
“Ehhh, we’ve been doing nothing but what I want. I’ll let you choose where we go.” The two were now walking from the groove in the park back to the city.
“I-I don’t know, my idea of going out might not be very interesting to you.”
Lancer put her arm around Saber and puled him close. “He if you’re having fun I’m having fun, that’s what being in a relationship is about. Now let’s go have fun!”
“O-okay!”

“Wow! I can’t believe that all these legends are written down just right there. Way more accessible than in my time.” Saber was holding a book of greek myths.
Lancer was watching from a small distance away, a smile on her face. “You do know that the grail gives us all the knowledge in these books right? I mean you have the information of all these myths directly downloaded.”
“Yeah but it’s different from reading it yourself! I mean check this out, this author obviously has a bias against the gods portraying them as fickle cruel being!” He handed the book to Lancer. “But this one! This one has the gods as more kind figures more like parents caring for a child.” He gave Lancer the other book.
“Isn’t it beautiful? The idea of stories changing based on how the one telling it feels about the subject!” He then picked up a compilation of Norse myths. “Like the Norse myths we know are heavily changed from their original state because we are looking at how the christians felt about the pagan religions. Sure we have a few original stories passed on orally but the main bulk of texts are really a pagan religion filtered through the church!” Saber then realized he was shouting and the entire book store was looking at him. His face got extremely red.
Lancer gave a little chuckle. “You are so cute when you get excited. Master gave me a little spending money let’s buy some of these books.”
“N-no! I couldn’t spend your money.”
“Cmon Saber it's a gift, besides I can find out anything about Rome on master’s computer, you obviously want these so let's do it!” Saber tried to put up more of an argument but eventually relented to Lancer’s demands.
Break
The two servants sat in silence in the cafe. Saber was reading a book on the myths of Egypt and Lancer was occupying herself by watching the excitement on his face.
“You’re very pretty when you’re focused like that you know.” Lancer broke the silence.
Saber blushed, put down his book, and took Lancer’s hand. “Alright t-that’s it, I can’t just sit by and let you continue to be the better partner. We’re going somewhere you want to go!”
Break
Lancer breathed deeply and checked her ammo. The laser pistol had recharged and now had five shots left. She had already eliminated all of Saber’s teammates and vice versa so it was one on one. She had already taken a hit and only one of her lives remained, but she knew one of her teammates had also winged Saber so they were on an even playing field.
In a situation like this there was no place for feelings, she was going all out. She reached deep and activated her Imperial Privilege and appropriated Presence Concealment. She blended into the shadows of the neon obstacle course and prepared for Saber to come by. Eventually Lancer sensed movement and shot two rounds into its center of mass. She was about to begin bragging about victory when she realized that it was just a limp piece of cloth.
Lancer moved only on instinct and it was that instinct that saved her as Saber came up from behind and tried to shoot her. She jumped away and saw him, standing sideways so that his chest targets weren’t visible from where she was. Saber had set up a powerful defense and laid a devious trap, but he had made one mistake.
He had gotten in range of Lancer’s speed! She leapt forward with her powerful leg muscles and even as he fired at her she predicted the path of the shots before they were fired using a borrowed Eye of the Mind. She skidded to a stop right in front of Saber, her gun right up against his chest and pulled the trigger; and nothing happened.
Lancer was so shocked she didn’t do anything when Saber pointed his gun at her chest, but a few feet away, and fired.
“The hell was that!?”
“Its a precaution to keep people from accidentally shooting themselves.” Saber explained. “W-within a certain range the sensors won’t read the lasers. I lost a life myself when I found out.”
Lancer groaned. “Ugh, that’s so lame. Whatever that was fun anyways, thanks for bringing me!” A large grin appears on her face.
“So we have about an hour until our masters will want to see us, how do you want to finish off today?”
“A-anything is fine with me. As long as I’m with you.” Saber said, and this time it was Lancer’s time to blush.
“Well in that case I know just the thing!”
Break
Lancer and Saber were standing on the roof of the tallest skyscraper looking at the setting sun. “It’s so beautiful.” Lancer said. “It seems that no matter where you are in the world sunsets are breathtaking. It makes me feel like I’m back home in Hispanic Ulterior.”
“I get what you mean.” Saber said. “When I was exiled I had to sleep in unfamiliar places with nobody I knew, yet the sunsets were always there. I always wondered if my friends back home could also see it and feel these same feelings.”
Lancer put a hand over Saber’s. “Well while we’re here together we don’t have to wonder. I am feeling the same things you are.” She leaned in. Saber did as well.
Even love can bloom on the battlefield.
