Wait so Gilles always had that Salem hint in his FGO Mats?
Apparently. Makes you wonder who else is mentioned within the remaining untranslated mats?
Gilles plays second fiddle to Jeanne in a lot of media they’ve been depicted in. Her reputation hangs a shade over everyone else imo

I bet it’s true even in this season’s loli-Jeanne anime, haven’t watched it but that’s my impression.

Jeanne's actual involvement in warfare is a matter of some debate among scholars, ranging from the "she single-handedly won the war" to "overglorified cheerleader", but that's immaterial to the point at hand. Gilles de Rais was Marshall of France and actual commander of the army. If Jeanne's tactics were followed, he was the one who ordered them so, and he certainly didn't learn how to wage war from her.
shit BL says
Once and always and nevermore.
That really doesn't matter. Jeanne is known as a famous hero and Gilles is as the guy that went crazy murderous after she died, that's it. Having Gilles, the character portrayed as her devout follower in everything, be a superior commander to THE flag bearing, leading, Ruler-class Servant, Jeanne d'Arc just makes no narrative sense.
She IS properly shooting those dolphins and whales at her enemies like a Archer should, to her credit.

Machines do not lose their worth when a newer model appears.
Their worth (life) ends when humans can no longer bear that purity.
My Fanfics. Read 'em. Or not.McJon01: We all know that the real reason Archer would lose to Rider is because the events of his own Holy Grail War left him with a particular weakness toward "older sister" types.
