But it really strains my suspension of disbelief when they do it to people like Alexander the Great and Joan of Arc, because last I time checked, Joan of Arc wasn't a blond haired, braid-wearing, big-titted 19-year old who wore a silly and impractical-looking dress and nor was Alexander the Great a red haired, two meter tall giant who drove a chariot pulled by bulls that could summon lightning strikes by stomping.
Fiction is not for you then.

This is probably what Joan of Arc and Alexander the Great looked like in real life.

They definitely did not in way resemble their Nasuverse counterparts.

Trust me, Fate threw away it's historical accuracy the second they made Gilgamesh. Or even probably sooner, if you consider that the original Cu was said to be a Blondie, also the fact he was said to have seven pupils In each eye but that's probably okay to slide over...

Not so sure about Alexander but there's like a zillion different fictional depictions of Jeanne as a beautiful blonde, so singling out Fate in particular for that is kind of dubious.

In general, Heroic Spirits are more born from how people perceive and conceptualize a particular mythical figure rather then necessarily what they actually looked like. Iskandar is a giant because of his immensely strong-willed and indomitable nature, while Jeanne is blonde-haired because that's stereotypically associated with purity and virginity. Their actual looks aren't really relevant.

If it bothers you that much, just remember that Nasu's version of history and myth can differ from ours in some cases, like Gae Bolg and its causality-reversal curse.

Iskander wasn't recorded differently in Nasu's (or technically Urobuchi's) version of events it's just that everyone assumed he was short because of the anecdote about his feet not reaching the ground when he sat in Xerxes' throne, but actually Xerxes was just like fifteen feet tall.

Darius actually, but other then that you're right. Though is that really the only historical source on Alexander's height?

Jeanne x Alter lezdom/corruption fic would work pretty well, actually. So obvious I'd be a little surprised if it hasn't already been done in some Doujin somewhere...

I can't believe that someone still bother with this historical accuracy especially in Type Moon works

I would be bothered. Except if Type-Moon were historically accurate, we wouldn't have nearly as many cute girls.

I'm curious though. Why call them "Iskandar" and Jeanne" instead of Alexander and Joan? What's the reason?
