Morning
My awakening is dull.
I don't really seem to dream much these days, but all I seem to recall from the night is shards. I don't know why, but it's always shards. Whether it be a single sliver rotating, an endless torrent falling upon me or a glass wall shattering around me, I am always alone in darkness surrounded by them.
Perhaps as a Magus, shards are a fundamental part of my being. Now as far as I can recall there are no climactic point in my life involving these things thus far. Perhaps it's a part of my Origin or what have you, but I haven't seen it reflected in my craft at all. Perhaps that’s a good things, as I can't imaging splintering and shattering into pieces to be a good thing in any scenario-
"Hmm?"
The sunlight of early spring is passing through the windows into my face. Pulling myself out of my daze, I realise what it is that's wrong. Sunlight shouldn't even be waking me up in the first place. Gazing over to my alarm clock, I can see no light at all. My roommate must have unplugged it at some point last night.
What a Prick.
Anyways. Reaching over to my bedside, I pick up my wrist watch. According to it, it's 9:04am. I've already missed my first lecture. A part of me is fine with that as I'd just have the elite look down on me quite literally. Then again, they'll probably insult me for being too lazy to attend. Those stuck up oafs don't seem to realise not everyone has the privilege of being born into money and power. So I weigh my options. What will Seigi Nomikata do?
1). Try and save face by going to the lecture. Perhaps I won't get too much stick from the professor there.
2). Skip class. They wouldn't notice a no-name like me not being there.
3). Get one over on our roommate and prank them [Write in]
4). Do literally nothing.

2. Let's go down the delinquent route
-- Updated --
Explanation for choice:
If we pick option 1, we're bound to run into those stuck-up elites and clearly we'd be unable to restrain ourselved from punching them in the face. But if we pick option 3, we'll sour our relationship with our roomate. Option 4 leads nowhere.
Option 2 clearly presents the most potential for further development without damaging our reputation. Do you want Kayneth-sensei to notice us?

Ooh, this has started already? Cool. A bit disappointed the name I selected wasn't chosen, but whatever...
As for the decision, I'll be boring and pick 1, since that strikes me as most likely to lead to some plot-important flag down the line.

I'm a believer in process of elimination, so let's do this.
4 is out straight away. Doing nothing will accomplish nothing.
3...it'd be funny, but it probably won't have any positive effect on our relationship with our roommate, as Zikari already said. Obviously our relationship isn't great as is, so it's probably best to avoid unnecessary antagonism. Plus we have better things to do. So that's out.
2 (skipping) might lead somewhere, but it's honestly too hard to say. More likely that we just accomplish nothing that way.
I'm going 1. There's a good chance that it'll get our boy Seigi into some trouble with the aristocracy, but like Royd said, it also has a good chance of getting us somewhere productive.

Raff's 3
2 seems to be the safest choice. I'll hold out on 3 for now but keep it in reserve for when we meet our roommate. If he's a churl, then that's what we do. If he's not… well, we'll find someone who deserves it.
Likes attention, shiny objects, and... a ball of yarn?

Sometimes I miss not being disillusioned about Ackfic in the Worm fandom, but then I remember that I once said this:
1
It's a chance to get a grasp of our routine. Might as well know what's going on.

Screw it, I'll swallow my pride and show up. They’ll insult me no matter what I do so I may as well try and make the best of it. As much as I'd like to get one over on my roommate, the inevitable escalation likely wouldn't work out well. The dude has more money and connections than myself as it is. As I muster the strength to get out of bed, I put of my preferred attire - a nice suit. The light colour of my clothes matches my hair colour nicely if I do say so myself. After getting everything in order, I leave the room untouched. Revenge could always come later.
I just wish it wouldn't happen today of all places. I've things to do. Important things.
Walking through the hallways, I manage to evade some of the other students on a different timetable. I didn't exactly speak with them as much but I'd rather not have my admittedly mediocre reputation deteriorate further. At the door, I grit my teeth and walk in.
There is nothing but silence as everyone stares at me.
"Mister Nomikata," the lecturer stretches out in front of everyone "May I ask as to why you are so late?"
It's not like I'm in a situation where I can say anything and he clearly knows it, so I just give off a defensive shrug and resume my normal seating position. I can hear him saying stuff about how my family will never grow unless I put in the work for future generations. Another reminder that I won't compare to my peers because I wasn't born in an old family. But regardless, I put up with it - the future of the family name rests with me after all.
As I sit down, I hear a comforting voice whispering softly next to me
"Heya, wanna share my notes?"
She already knows my answer. I give a nod before passing her a chocolate bar as familiar payment under the table and start catching while she starts eating. Her name is Risa Mol-Undi. A fellow student and although I quite don't recall how we got into this little 'routine' of ours, we help each other out when we sit next to each other in class. Fortunately for me, the sweet girl has a powerful sweet tooth as well. That's all I really know about her as our conversation has been strictly academic aside from her obsession with chocolate.
Having gotten a mouthful, she speaks in a higher tone
"Reiner and his crones again?" she squeaks before bending her head down and taking a quick glance at me to avoid attention.
I give out a grumble of acknowledgement before continuing my work. Picking up I didn't want to walk about it, she takes out another bar from her stash. Thanks to Ms Mol-Undi's notes, I'm able to quickly catch up on what was said about in depth Thaumaturgy Foundation before we move on to how it is affected by inherent Sorcery Traits. There were a few complex nuances but Risa managed to simplify it so I didn't have to spend ages writing everything down. Certainly a better job than the lecturer did, clever girl.
As the lecture ends and we all pack our bags ready to get out, I'm thankful I managed to defuse the situation for now. However I feel my heart tug on a few things before an obligatory meeting tonight I need to attend tonight. There's some thing's I need to do.
1). Get one over on Reiner subtly.
2). Give Risa a proper thank you for her help.
3). Prepare myself for the meeting.

2. It's only right to thank the people that help us. As much as I'd like to feel superior to this Reiner fellow, I think building our relationships is a good idea.
But mostly, it's to go down the Risa Route.
2. Why, it always pays to be polite. And you know, chances of being friends...?
