Come on, come on
He stared at the clock on the wall. He was getting restless.
He didn’t have time to mess around today. If he stuck around too long he’d get dragged into a kidnapping plot. One of which he didn’t want to get involved in. Sucking on his cheap cigarette that tastes like ash and cheap booze, he glanced at the doors to a store as he kept his eye on the time. Watching it count down (up) to when the kidnapping would happen.
He sighed in relief when his target walked out.
A rather curvy pale woman whose skin contrasted the bright red clothes they wore. Sunglasses hid her eyes but he knew from experience that she saw him. He could immediately guess her three choices and which she’d pick. Especially since he had a semi-decent profile of her on hand.
She’d immediately attack him, uncaring of the citizens around him. She’d run for the alleys, hoping to lure him into a trap. Alternatively, she’d run for her mount, the car, and try to escape him. He decided to remove her choice. He stood and placed some credits on the table he walked out. In a smooth motion, he drew his pistol to fire.
Except he immediately dropped it and it fired wildly.
Bouncing around a few times, it landed its shot right on his target's head as they raced to strike him. This did not defeat them, of course. It only diverted their trajectory. Instead of landing a critical strike on him, he took a mere glancing blow to his left arm.
He rushed away. He had been counting on them just fleeing. He had a particular rep and he was hoping they’d go for their mount. The car. Instead, he had to rely on plan B. He leaped into it now and pulled out a thumb drive stuck into a port in the radio set.
Nice ride. Mind if I take it for a spin?
Yeah, yeah, just drive!
He turned swiftly, pulling his off-hand from his boot. His old reliable. A flimsy little laser pistol that had gotten him out of more jams than he could count… all despite having less power than even D-rank armaments.
Aiming he began to fire at his adversary. Naturally, his shots were nothing more than annoyances as they stood and began to dash at him. Right as the car revved up, went into drive, and began to drive off on its own. He kept firing to keep the enemy Rider slow. Yet because of how weak his attacks were he knew that’s all it’d do. Slow her down to simply match pace.
We’re en route to point Alpha. Also, the authorities are aware of our presence.
Just what I needed… Why couldn’t this be an easy score? She’s not even a proper saint graph, just a summer one!
You should know better than to underestimate enemy servants just because they’re in their summer alts. Especially this one. Did you read her file?
Yeah, yeah. Figured it’d be an easy score still. She doesn’t have concealment so she can’t just slink away…
No, but it also means we have more to worry about. Coming in at 5 o’clock.
What?
As he looked he realized right then the entire plan was screwed. Two robotic dogs leaped onto the car, each snarling at him. He reacted as one would expect.
He leaped out of the speeding car, removing the thumb drive in one smooth motion, and rolled with the street below. As soon as he stopped he got to his feet and took in the situation. The car had stopped and the two dogs that had forced him to retreat were snarling at him from a distance away. The enemy however had caught up. This limited his options.
Alright, you’ve had your fun.
He looked at his foe. She remained in the summer saint graph. That was lucky for him. It meant he had a chance. He just needed to wait for it. That was when he was surprised for once. The woman, removing her glasses, stated
I’ve got a job offer for you. I need a human's help with a certain job. Agree to just a 10-9 cut and I’ll forget that you tried to steal my car.
He hesitated. It was too good to be true. Yet weighing his options he had little choice but to play it cool.
No thanks. I’m already on a job right now.
It was then that his ship, Lost in Thoths, descended with its guns aimed at Rider. He smirked, pulling out a new cigarette, his old one lost to the winds.
Instead, let's negotiate your surrender. Come quietly and I’ll just cuff you now rather than knock you out.

Yo, Rider answer'in yer summons. First my upfront fee. Jus' give me... let's say ten thousand credits and incarnation upon victory. Deal?

The Story So Far...
Maurice Doreal. A name known by many but acknowledged by few.
In proper history, he was a two-bit occultist who made some interesting but ultimately nonsensical theories about occultism. His theories eventually became, ultimately, regarded as pseudoscience even to ardent pseudoscientists and occultists. Few today believe any of his writings beyond one; Thoth the Atlantean. Yet in another time, his life would go in a very different direction than his historical one; his activities in the world of mystery included.
When the Servantverse began and people became servants he was one of the few left out, or so he thought. He continued his life doing odd jobs to support himself but found himself outpaced by his fellow man. Eventually, it became impossible for him to do so and he began living out of his ship. That was until he was browsing a flea market and got roped into what he would later describe as an 'incident'.
Rushing by him and dropping a thumb drive, a strange-looking knight ran from shady cloaked figures pursuing the knight. He acted casual for a second before sneakily pocketing the thumb drive and heading to his ship. He put it in, planning to see the contents, make copies, and sell to the highest bidder. Its contents were beyond his wildest dreams.
An AI Unit named THOTH installed itself immediately and connected to the galactic wide web (GWW) and proceeded to greet him before taking over his ship and fleeing the planet. A move he would be later grateful for. THOTH revealed he was not as sneaky as he thought, merely lucky. His pursuers had been harrassed and delayed by all manner of inconvenience but they were giving chase.
These are how he began his humble life as a space cowboy...
Class Skills
Magic Resistance
C
A skill acquired by his now years of being a space cowboy. Managing, by the skin of his teeth, to capture and turn in countless bounties. Among these were magecraft-wielding vagrants that would use their mysterious tricks to try to win one over. Early on they worked but as he was exposed to more and more he became more and more familiar with them.
By no means perfect, he did adopt a sort of immune system to them based on wit and grit.
In other words, he is immune to spells up to C-rank. However, he cannot defend against high-ranked spells. He cannot even mitigate them on his own. If he happens to have THOTH with him, he can to an extent reduce the rank of incoming spells by 1 rank if they are from a servantverse servant.
Riding
D+++
A skill that is the staple of Riders. It permits them to ride anything they could in life as well as anything adjacent with the right rank. Despite his career path, he actually isn't all that adept at piloting. He is barely passable and often relies heavily on THOTH for piloting. In such instances, his saint graph effectively has three plus modifiers enhancing his rank. However, this is only possible on mechanical aircraft with electrical computer systems and he properly installs THOTH.
Otherwise, he operates with D-rank riding which permits him to ride most vehicles with some training. However, he cannot handle riding phantasmal beasts.
Powerless Shell
EX
Less of a skill that actively suppresses his servant's aura and instead maintains it. It is so abysmally low that even other servants often do not detect that he is a servant and mistake him for a human. This skill keeps it that way even in the midst of combat. Only once a foe determines he must be a servant does its effectiveness drop though only for that specific foe. Even if they spread the information, it must be believed for the efficacy drop to occur.
Yet even with a drop in effectiveness, all this accomplishes is allowing devices to register him as a servant in the first place. His scoring as a servant does not change even when utilizing his noble phantasms.
Fateless
EX
A rare skill that untethers the servant from the bounds of fate and mechanics that rely upon it. Noble Phantasms, skills, and even authorities that would manipulate or bind his fate are completely useless against him. Likewise, sight relying upon reading his 'future' become blind to him. They cannot see him. Sights such as the Mage Kings or High King Fionne also fail to see him at all. Only when physically before him do their eyes perceive him.
Even the golden king's eyes fail to see his future or present.
Even the mighty Asharte could not, with her immensity, manipulate his fate. Not because he is immune to such things. It is because such a thing does not exist for him. He has no determined future or fate. He is, in a sense, free to forge his own path.
Of course, this likewise means he cannot rely on luck or fate to bail him out. It is entirely up to him to overcome the challenges he faces.
Personal Skills
Wisdom of Predicament
C+
A skill derived from experience. Despite his heavy reliance, he picked up tricks and techniques from THOTH. Magecraft, escape tactics, survival tricks, and knife handling. He knows a great deal of minor skills that allow him to accomplish all manner of things. At a baseline, this skill grants him access to minor magecarft and combat skills. When he utilizes THOTH he can not only access more advanced forms of the above, but he can also apply a plus modifier to his parameters and skills.
With some caveats... for example, he cannot improve his Luck at all.
Supporting Bombardment
B
A skill he has due to his ownership of Lost is Thoths. Cooperating with THOTH through unknown means, she can strafe fire with its onboard weapons systems. Switching from energy weapons to kinetic, she can handle both physical and magical enemies. Very useful for sticky situations that he often finds himself in. Even if the enemy is immune, the initial shock of having enemy weapons firing on them grants him an opportunity.
Despite the fact his weapons aren't outdated they aren't very powerful. Only ranking up to C-rank, they will damage most middling servants and will distract practically any but the most single-minded servants. Naturally, Berserkers are immune to the distraction aspect but he avoids them (or tries to) anyway so that isn't an issue.
Scapegoat
B
A skill acquired due to how many incidents he's gotten into and escaped. It represents the accumulation of experience and techniques he's developed in order to escape any situation that is hazardous to him. In essence, so long as he has even a 1% chance to escape he can visualize his escape path and has decent odds of achieving it. Normally, he'd utilize a luck check to guarantee it but a skill prevents this.
Instead, this skill merely lets him visually and mentally identify ways to escape a bad scene without breaking a sweat. Only at less than a 10% chance does he have to strain himself to escape.
Personality
Examining his accomplishments, one might think that he is a go-getter that enjoys time off. A daring cowboy who'd rescue damsels by day and stare at the stars enjoying a smoke by night. Certainly, he enjoys being thought of in such a way but when it comes to actually doing it? He loathes it. THOTH can attest as much that he'd rather laze about than do any actual work.
Doreal, despite his occupation, hates the dangerous lifestyle. He only lives in such a way because he feels he cannot simply abandon THOTH. He considers them close friends rather than his property and treats them as such. He willingly admits that without her he'd likely be drifting through space living ration to ration and as such feels he owes THOTH her freedom. So he works hard to ensure she can enjoy life and that no one else restricts her.
To this end, he often is weary of others and untrusting. Very rarely has this nature been proven wrong. These few times that he's made new friends he's been appreciative. Though he doubts they'll remember him at all. Despite his laziness, desire to not get involved in things, and relaxed nature he has a single pet peeve that will always move him to action.
He hates ignoring those in need.
A cry for help. Tears of dejection. Any sign of giving up. Seeing this always spurs him to take action and save them from whatever is causing it. Either the police hauling away their loved ones or criminals trying to abduct them. He always moves without thinking to save them. THOTH, likewise, helps him feel the same way. This has earned them a reputation for troublemaking.
A reputation he loathes.

Huh. Magicians. Amusing bunch but not my cup of tea. They're always annoying to fight...
Hmmm. I'm not so sure Doreal. Check his profile.
... Hmmm. Still a mage but... well now he ain't so dangerous, is he?

... I feel bad. Are we really picking on the sickly now?
We can always turn it down. Though be careful to not look up at night around him.
Huh. Wh-... ahhhh. Tricksie fellow he is. Well, alright then.

...Heh. Not bad, little lady. You are spot on. My story? Kinda pointless.
Doreal...
Yet it's still fun. I'm glad there's someone that appreciates that. Thanks.
... You could learn to be more tactful.
Wait wasn't I? I said she was right and thanked her for noticing it's got a point! What'd I do now!?
I apologize for his lack of etiquette. I hope you'll forgive him, Miss Derbeyfield.

... My name is THOTH. It is nice to meet you, Reaper System. How is your day going?
Tutenkhamun
Huh. I've seen zombies before but that looks different...
It is. He's a servant, not a zombie. His saint graph is strange, however...
... Huh. I'll keep an eye on 'im. I don't think he's a threat but it pays to be cautious...
Francisco de Asís Tárrega Eixe
Oh, hey... so this is your proper human history self huh? Nice to meet you, my name is Doreal. Dunno if we passed crossed before but all the same. Hope we can be friends too.
Don't you mean 'valued informant'?
H-hey! That implies he was a criminal! We both know that isn't true!
Do you mean before or after breaking out of jail?
Th-that isn't important!

He-ey ladies~ Names Doreal. What are your names?
I am Thoth. His AI Companion. I provide him with intelligence.
Alonso Quixano
Huh. An actual knight... interesting!
... According to my records, he is not. He is merely a literary character.
... and you say I have no tact...

Hey Thoth! I got materials to upgrade the ship!
That's great news Doreal. Let me get rea-... Doreal.
Yeah?
Where did you get this?
That guy. Why?
How much did you pay?
About ten thousand credits total. He's gotta source some stuff and ship it. Why?
... Excuse me, I need to go talk to him.
Thoth? Thoth!? THOTH!? Wait why are you powering up your cannons!? Stop!
Frederic Chopin
Hmmmm.
Everything okay Doreal?
Yeah, yeah. I swear I know that guy from somewhere.
A mission?
Nah it ain't that...
Hmmmm... perhaps you waited somewhere near him and unconsciously noted him?
Ain't it either...
Perhaps he was a cashier for you one time?
Don't sound right either...
Then what?
.... I dunno. He's just familiar...
:(
Seiu Ito
Hmm. For a guy like that, you'd think he'd be employed by the government... but he's just a writer.
He's more of an 'expert' really.
True... huh. Maybe I'll hit him up for lessons. Might make my job easier.
... I don't think that's a good idea. He'll probably get the wrong idea.
You think so? I dunno. He seems like a decent guy.

Sanshi
Wait... parasites...? Wait a second, Thoth-
I've already scanned you. You are clean... though I'm doubling up on research into divine parasites... in case of any accidents.
... Right... I'm sure it's fine... right? we're cool, right?

AKAIT
All-Knowing Artificial Intelligence Thoth
Type
Familiar
Rank
B
A highly advanced AI that not only has total sentience but also possesses the capability to alter its code to integrate with any computer system. Even the oldest modules can contain her due to her capability. Thoth however has many more capabilities. She is labeled 'All-Knowing' for an explicit reason. She is not quite knowledgeable on precise details of history but knows generally the events that occurred. However her true capability as 'the All-Knowing' comes from her capability to be a master at any skill she desires.
Her methods are unknown but one moment she can be mediocre at piloting and the next be master-class. A novice at baking and then suddenly a chef. So long as she truly desires it and what she's attempting has a method to complete it she can attain mastery in practically any skill. She often uses this to assist Doreal whose saint graph and status as a servant are lower than even that of the Void-Shaped Human.
Often times their schemes involve them hijacking something close to their target and using it to get a surrender. In the rare instances, this fails she either uploads into his gun directly or she auto-pilots Lost in Thoths directly to him to provide support. In either case, she can maintain control of multiple instances at once without a loss in processing power. At least while she's uploaded primarily to Lost in Thoths.
If she were uploaded to lesser equipment she would be restricted to no more than three instances for middling technology and two for anything worse. The worst technology, 1900s tech, would require her to focus only on that instance due to the lack of resources for processing.

Rank
C
His pride and joy. At least his current one.
A custom-order ship ordered by THOTH to grant her the most capacity for the least cost. Despite a few glaring issues he does love the ship and the comfort it provides. These problems include a faulty warp drive prone to mis-coordinating warps, non-functional anti-gravity systems that make free flight on planets impossible, and the settings language all set to Ranmarium making it difficult for him to change settings.
Despite the ship being in his name he often lets Thoth do as she pleases with it, only taking over when he wants to do a particular thing such as watch a movie or pilot in a sticky situation. He's been with the ship so long that the ship became his noble phantasm.
Despite its faults, it's a strong ship. It has both kinetic and energy weapons that can penetrate most forms of non-magical defense. Even forcefields buckle after sustained fire from its energy cannons. It can easily cross a planet's ocean in minutes and its interior is shielded from the g-forces, protecting its pilot from the effects of such fast flight. Finally, it possesses a warp drive that allows it to teleport at will. Despite its penchant for messing up the warp coordinates it still completes it regardless.
