I've deleted it. All the best to this month's contest's participants.
Don't worry, Spelror.
I lived my whole life in a place commonly attributed as a hotbed of syncretism, assimilation, and acculturation, and still can't come up with shit.
Sometimes you spend hours researching something without any result, only to get hit with a lightbulb while taking a shower or something. Inspiration can come from the unlikeliest of places.
aaah that explains the specific distance in your sheet.
some background on that would be neat
and serra, how dare you invoke the sheet i dont even list in my own compilation

There's not a whole lot to it. I picked Betelgeuse at random for the joke because I know off the top of my head it's about 600 light years away, and there are around 1200 years of difference between Hadai and the mythologised conflict that the Takeminakata/Moriya legend is based on. That's 600 years for light to cross before it has to bounce off something to make it home in time to manifest in the form of sociopolitical religious conflict.

Er, excuse me, what is the topic of this month?
Don't take it the wrong way bro I'm glad you're posting again
And I'm excited for what else your syncretism flowcharts will end up as

You could've just gone back a few pagesSyncretism
Having many different histories and mythologies in the same setting means that Type Moon often has to draw connections and justify the existence of different figures by conflating them. Sometimes though, real life has already done it for them.
The prompt for this month's contest is Syncretism, the combination of different faiths and beliefs. Let's put the phantom fusions and high servants aside for a minute and take a look at what kind of stuff real life came up with... Or not, justify that syncretism yourself! Draw connections no one's seen before, just be convincing enough!
Hmm, I think I might've forgotten some of my old social studies lessons.
This following idea is a convoluted one, and I apologize if I can't describe them better, but hear me out here.
Say country B adapts mythology from country A, but adds a bunch of, let's say... OCs. These OCs aren't originally present in country A's mythos, and while their origins are vague, one popular theory states that they might be ancient local deities from country B whose actual legend had been completely lost until their reappearance in that "new" adaptation (country B "retcons" them as always being present in the OG country A mythos). Does that count as syncretization or assimilation?
Syncretism is a cultural phenomenon and doesn't have to be limited to religion. A group adapting another group's religion to fit their own culture counts, the lack of an obvious second faith being mixed in doesn't really matter because the insertion of these new characters into the myths — regardless of origin — is already a reflection of both cultures interacting.
The actual sociological definition of syncretism might be more restrictive than that (I have no idea) but I won't be.
Something new being created by either the interaction between two cultures/ideas or the assimilation of a culture/idea by another. That's what I'm looking for, you guys don't have to worry so much about the minutiae.
