I didn't realize this wasn't going to be free. Isn't this a problem since it's a fan game using someone else's intellectual property.
Doujin work is a big part of otaku culture. They're fine as long as they follow TM's copyright guidelines.
I always thought the two rules that had to be followed were
1. limited release if it's something sold (like an "art" book at a con)
2. or if it's easy to obtain it's free.
since this is a game that is for sale online this doesn't fit either of those two catagories.
TYPE-MOON has a written derivative works policy that is one of the first things linked in the FEOD release description. (http://typemoon.com/copyright)
It explicitly allows production and distribution of doujin games, and commercial distribution of doujin goods as long as they aren't "deemed to exceed the scope of doujin activities."
they know their roots, they're not going to go after some small-time indie devs.

Are you planning on buying and playing this? Would love to hear some thoughts on the game as a whole if you do, since I only played the first demo, and thought the writing was really solid but the gameplay was pretty average outside of combat, so interested to see how that turned out.
The mats are out on 4chan if anyone is interested. They are a few servants not shown before. Some servants from the demos are not included in them, so they might be more.

I don't know you so I'm not telling you what to do, people who are gonna pirate are gonna pirate. But I would hope anyone who complains about doujin works being convention-exclusive as a reason to pirate put their money where their mouth is once that barrier is removed.
Plus, it's split into 3 episodes so you're only out 1000 JPY if you decide you don't like it.(on top of the demos)
