Rate-ups are like, for new guns when they come out or randomly (pretty rarely) for all guns/equipment. After a proper rateup there's usually always a logistics rateup as well. And tomorrow (I think) there's gonna be a drop rateup for special equips. But no, point events don't usually come with them.

Yeah it really is great despite the simplicity. I still don't wanna go all out for it just because it's so simple I feel like it's easily replaced by mod3 once that's out, and I'd rather get spitfire's skin or IWS' halloween skin once those come out (which might be soon, at least for the latter).

Well, it depends on how you look at it. MP5's equip isn't exactly enough to make her really good or possibly not even good, but it does make her viable. The dodge increase it gives is insane, putting her over even proper non-shield main tanks at 130 dodge (for reference, ump45 who is considered one of the best general use main tanks has 113 with a T4). Of course, the thing is that she's still a shield tank, so her usage is still very niche, since you wouldn't field her for general use, but you could argue that it makes her at least somewhat viable since her super high dodge offsets her relatively small HP pool, at least when compared to other shield tanks.
But yeah, if you never ever plan on using her then the only reason is collector purposes I guess.

Tbh that's one thing I really like about this game. People talk a lot about tierlists and who's good and shit but in the end you could clear practically all content with a shitty 2* team if you wanted to. It just requires more planning and strategy on your end, which is nice imo. Of course, you won't top any charts during ranking events later, but if you were playing like that is that really anything you would be worried about to begin with? (you could also argue that those of us who do minmax at least a bit still won't rank very high because whales lol)
Got Tar's costume. Much rejoicing.
Now I can save for Halloween.
FINALLY got a 5* armor. Holy shit. Now I just need to spam 1-1N for years to max it. Fun.

fucking gold spooks, just give me IWS.
After the first general rate-up event I'm not even sure what the point is in rolling a ton outside of those, if they're more frequent than once or twice a year. Even the specific rate-ups when new guns are released aren't high enough odds to keep up with how fast it has you burn through contracts and resources.
