The visuals showing the 3 Goddesses when Nakata was flexing his voice where very good. Made the scene even better. Shame they didn't allude to Marik and Fuuma getting summoned and wrecked by Jaguarman since it probably means they're not gonna do it with Tomoe either and I was low key hoping they would show us a flashback of her and scorpion-man ripping each other to shreds. Ushiwaka is cute.
All that good animation is wasted on Taiga but I ended up enjoying the episode either way.
Without all the scenes of him cutely reacting to our telling him about our day to day tasks, Gil calling Ritsuka by his name didn't do much for me. That said, giving Gudao more of a solid personality is good
Jaguarman is...really out of place, I can't take her seriously for how well animated she is.
Also if Gil doesn't get punted next episode I'm dropping my rating to 9/10
Joke servant's aren't my thing either, I advise people to turn their brains off when Taiga appears and enjoy that sweet action ;D
It follows a scene of people genuinely frightened and Mash and Gudao burning with righteous anger at their resignation so it bugs me too much. Its a bit easier to handle in the forest

Taiga was purrfect, y'all just weird.
I honestly like the dichotomy of serious and super comedic more than I used to. That, and I do like ridiculous/absurb humor. I will admit, it did feel a bit weird with Jaguarman coming in right after a super intense scene with Gudao and Mash getting super angry, but it was also hilarious since Jaguarman was so wholly unthreatening, yet the people of Ur were shit scared, and then she actually turned out to be quite the combatant.

And she's a jaguar, NOT a tiger.
I don't take Ritsuka and Matt particularly seriously, so Taiga's stuff is much easier to swallow.
Righteous anger, I sleep. Ridiculous Taiga masquerading as a Jaguar, I'm in.
But I thought I was supposed to take those people's struggles and moral dilemmas seriously? It's kinda hard to do that when they're threatened by Taiga in a onsie making jaguar puns and silly faces at me.
It's not that Taiga is funny or not, it's that nothing in that scene should be made to be funny at all. The audience shouldn't be laughing when we just got told that this town is being sacrificed, literally one person a day.
I don't recall Nasu ever doing something like this before. There was always a clear cut line between where the lighthearted comedic moments end and serious moments begin.

It's funny because he used to be actually pretty good at handling transitions between lighthearted comedy and more serious scenes as the vast majority of them feel entirely natural when it comes to TM's flagship titles such as FSN/Tsuki/KnK and Mahoyo (outside of the obligatory H-scenes of course but those are not meant to be taken seriously, obviously). Compare that to authors like KnY's and FMA's who have a tendency to almost immediately follow up a sad/tragic story event with over-the-top slapstick comedy and the difference is pretty clear.
Guess there's only so much you can do with something that's both lacking in identity and deeply rooted in gacha elements...

I had the same issue with his tonal whiplash in FSN too. It's not a recent problem for him.

Sure, take it seriously. But what exactly is wrong with gods not following the logic or following their own beat? It's Taiga's jungle, and it follows her rules.
Indeed, this is not about fun, this is about it being absurd. Her conditions are absurd, her behavior is beyond understanding, and her outfit follows the suit. You feel rejection, as you should if you buy into the whole thing. I can't care less about Ritsuka's anger, might sympathise a little with Matt, but, in the end, I'm sold more on Taiga's antics than *the protagonist*'s feelings. It's not that Taiga is funny or not, it's that nothing in that scene should be made to be funny at all. The audience shouldn't be laughing when we just got told that this town is being sacrificed, literally one person a day.
Cheap strawman.
I don't like it
Spoiler:
Wandering on internet
It completely breaks my immersion in that world and suspension of disbelief. I don't really care for Ritsuka much as well, but I really did care for these people. What happens to them is NOT a joke.
The worst part isn't even that the "antagonist" doing this isn't as threatening as they ought to be, it's that it's Taiga. A character we know and like, to varying degrees, from before.
What am I supposed to feel? Am I supposed to feel sad for those people while listening to the jaguar puns? Am I supposed to feel horrified by that absurd insane evil villain when it has Taiga's face? Am I supposed to find it funny and laugh at Taiga's antics when these antics are literally sacrificing a town's people?
What even is this situation? It's not funny, it's not scary and it's not absurd. It's solely ruined by shoving Taiga, who inevitably comes with her own baggage, in a role she shouldn't have.
To be honest, I couldn't get behind Mash and Ritsuka's anger either because I knew ahead of time that the sacrifices were still alive. If not, I might have been angrier and more confused by the whiplash.
Also, this is Taiga's jungle, and not Quetz's jungle?
