The paths to the future and the past converge at some point, hinting that the universe is cyclical. And once we have achieved the perfect scientific utopia, the universe will go 'welp, that's boring' and kill everyone.

Gotta develop the technology to siphon energy from other branches of the time tree first before the world catches on, THEN make your scientific utopia

Pretty sure Kirsch's goals fall somewhere along those lines as well.

CCC and Extella imply that as soon as the species leaves the birth planet it is no longer under control of the Counter-Force.

It's not the Counter Force which prunes branches.
Also, just for starters, the whole premise of Fate is that people of the past were awesomer than those of today. This isn't Enlightenment, it's Romanticism at its most basic.

That's actually from Fate. Rin muses about the difference between magic and science in the beginning and Shirou identifies Gem Sword as an artifact of a future cicilization. So people were awesome back in the day and they will be again but XXIth century is a transitional low point.

The human order/Alaya (idr exactly which it was) aka one side of the counter force is what prunes so...

Also I don't think EXTRAverse is a good point of reference since at that point the moon cell has somehow taken over pruning duties and all that jazz.

If Nasu’s history isn’t cyclical why does Type Moon keep releasing the same story over and over again

Probably not circular in the "everything repeats itself to a T" way, but still.

    Human technology is great.
In the past few hundred years, it has been leading the way ahead of magic.
    Nothing is impossible for humans.
The miracles once only possible through magic are now "tools" and not miraculous at all.

Still, magic has its good points.
Just as there are things possible only through science,
there are also things possible only through magic.
It was the master of the Tohsaka family who said that if science is moving toward the future, magic is moving toward the past.
Something about the past and the future ending up at the same place, everything always running toward the zero point.
She's probably talking about Zelretch. And here is how Shirou reacts to seeing the Gem Sword for the first time.

    That's the original.
A ritual dagger with a jeweled blade.
The kaleidoscopic gleam sears through my eyes and into my brain.
    " "
I understand the instant I see it.
    I understand that I can't comprehend it.
All I can imitate is its shape.
I can't analyze its structure and project it.
What kind of a magical theory was it constructed with?
The old man's dagger is still a mystery, even if I use Archer's arm and every last piece of knowledge in heroic spirit Emiya.
    It's alien technology.
The old man is embodying general knowledge from a far future, beyond the reach of modern man
This reaction is similar (not identical) to what he feels about Ea (supposedly the oldest sword) when he sees it for the first time.

(The Human Order Incineration by the King of Magic was performed by him alone, but the Pruning Phenomenon is conducted by human history itself, pages which are incinerated by the collective will of humanity).

The collective will (unconsciousness) of humanity being alaya, so more or less yeah.

I mean it can work on multiple levels, because it certainly doesn't work only as an allegory considering FGO and all of that

Ah, but the Lostbelts are only written about once they've been dragged back into history by the fantasy trees. And once the trees are destroyed, they stopped getting written.

So you're saying that the galaxy level energy inside the time tree's is a alegory for fat stacks of cash?

"If you want us to write stories we dont care about, pay us" sort of deal?
