Ignoring that you can't read posts dictating her gender unlike Dully, I'm not sure why getting a new account was so important to claim a TL has ulterior motives?

I don't think Volume 6 has been reached yet. The thread here doesn't seem to have it.

Not to change the topic or anything, but if fallacies' accuracy is in question, shouldn't the person themselves be here to defend (or condemn) it?

She has an account here, but doesn't really use it much. And so far she's the one providing most of the stuff I posted, so that others can see for themselves.

    haha i just noticed

    >"without askance of era"
    >年代を問わず
    >"without askance"
    >問わず
    >askance
    /əˈskans,əˈskɑːns/
    adverb
with an attitude or look of suspicion or disapproval.
"the reformers looked askance at the mystical tradition"

when plebeian words and definitions just don't cut it

    ……あらゆる年代、あらゆる国の英雄が現代に蘇り、覇を競い合う殺し合い。
... Heroic Spirits of every era; every nation do in modernity revive, to vie for supremacy in a deathmatch.

semicolons - because why use a comma and make sense (as the original japanese text does) when you could use this; and divide one clause into two, producing a garbled hash

That sentence (that whole infodump, really) was created only to hide Archer identity and to be subverterd later, so this whole discussion seems rather foolish.
Because you are too young. Or too stupid. Or both.

I'm sure you can come up with a better reason why a lengthy passage of exposition explaining the concepts of heroic spirits, servants, and the holy grail war to the reader might be inserted in the prologue of the first work to feature all these things. And yes, Archer's provenance plays off the expectations that the readers have for his identity based on this passage. An exception does not invalidate the established norm.

Because I like this forum, and I think it's kind of important that translations being propagated are accurate and not skewed by personal opinions.

You can have an opinion and use translations and entries to support it, but translations shouldn't be trimmed and skewed to make you "more right".

I guess the point ultimately is whether Archer is that much of an exception or not.

General Discussion has always been foolish and pedantic : )

This may be an unpopular opinion (which does fit the thread, somewhat ironically!), but I actually like this. If the setting has established that magic was real for all of human history, it only makes sense that philosophers and scientists absolutely would try to study or practice it if they somehow had access to it - as indeed many did in real life, though with rather less spectacular results.
    My fanfics:
The Gift (F/SN): The last duel between Cú Chulainn and Scáthach.
Passion Acknowledged (F/SN): Shinji X Shirou lemon
He Was a Good King (F/SN): Was Beowulf a good king?
A Fairy Tale of Love and Death (F/SN): A meeting between Scáthach and King Hassan.
Palingenetic Descension (Tsukihime): The origin of the Tohno family's hybrid nature.

    Ah, Nasu and his exceptions.

I've switched camps in that particular war anyway - I used to think the setting rules were somewhat "hard", but before the irresistible force of narrative convenience, they might as well be made of tofu.

General Discussion became a lot less fun after that realization.
As the size of an explosion increases, the number of social situations it is incapable of solving approaches zero.

    How nostalgic
We've had to endure much, you and I, but within the week there will be old men running the world
