Last Encore had some good parts, namely the intro episode and Alice. As a whole, it was derivative and not worth watching if you already went through Extra. Wouldn't figure bashing Last Encore to be an unpopular opinion though.
Last Encore should only be watched after playing Extra.
Well, it is one of the better ones. And I still find it a little weird.

It's worse than that. It showcases that Nasu apparently had no idea what made Extra actually work and turn the PSP's deficiencies into positives. (Note that I'm specifying Extra here; CCC is a different beast and not having played it I'm not qualified to comment).
EDIT: I'll be charitable and say that beyond "doesn't know what he did right" there's also the option of "doesn't care and wanted to try something different". It was still a major disappointment, however.

The best way to do a nasu adaption is to just fucking not let nasu make creative decisions regarding adaptions

Yea nasu's decisions really fucked last encore over and it got a tone of advertising in japan. Well the bluerays did since l was in japan at the time they were sold
Don't forget that it got delayed by an extra year (though that one's almost certainly on SHAFT rather than T-M).
