Kariya never actually resisted, though. He only tried to white knight her after Sakura was adopted and he realized he could not simply let Aoi go. Also, the real bummer is that Apo!Iri was killed by Darnic.

He still did fuck up because it would have been good if he told her that Zouken orchestrated their friendship so he could get a baby factory for his experiements, but I think context is important. If none of them really exist in that world than honestly that saves everyone a lot of mess. And Darnic killed her? Where was that said?

What blurbs are these? Where has the HF 2 stuff been translated?

I always just kind of assumed Darnic's Servant did, but come to think of it, do we know if that works timeline wise? Since Amakusa killed Fionn, then if their fight was before the Einzbern Master died Fionn couldn't very well be the one who killed her.

Shinji managed to be born in Extra despite being conceived from donated sperm and thus having presumably no biological relation to the Matous so I trust that he can do it again

The problem is with that initially lovely scene from the anime where Amakusa holds his dead Master in the snow. Either he's anchorless and had to eat someone or bone someone to survive or he's incarnated, in which case dealing with an aspect of the HGW after the HGW ended for him is really tonally weird.

Yeah, I nearly forgot about Zouken playing creepy matchmaker. But still, when Kariya ran away, and Aoi decided to marry Tokiomi, Kariya gracefully bowed out. It probably would have been a good idea for Kariya to tell Aoi about the baby-making plan if she was such a cherished friend for him.

Well he did incarnate. Possible he either lasted long enough for that to happen, or that happened before his master died.

That is true, we know next to nothing about Kariya and Byakuya's mother and father other than the mother plants a tree Sakura revives in Hollow. And I think it was Tokiomi's father because iirc, since Risei was the person representing the Church in the 3rd war and was friends with daddy Tohsaka, it makes sense he was there. So Tokiomi's mother is the likely other Edefelt sister.
For matter for a discussion earlier in the thread, Tokiomi did seem to consider the Edefelt family in FSN's semi-timeline, though it was used in a joke scenario for Zero. Was that Hanafuda game for Zero made before Apo was written, I forget. Could be the seed that enabled that idea, other than Nasu being coy the two families are blood related.
