To be fair Illustrator is like Takeuchi’s secondary job, or so I feel. I feel like he should do less art and only do it when he’s prepared to spend a lot of time to make it high quality and fresh however.
Nasu and Kojima have actually hung out before, so I would go with that.

She's good enough as a supporting character in HF.

The "lolicon incest" part is why I didn't know if it really was unpopular. I know of some... *ahem* communities where merely saying Illya should have her own route would instantly get you branded a pariah.
To be honest, I have little interest in the romantic/sexual aspects of a possible Illya route. I do think, however, that she is a fascinating character that cold be developed a LOT more. While Heaven's Feel did do her a bit of justice, it was simply not enough. Hollow Ataraxia gave us a bit more, but I still feel that there is a lot more to her that has simply remained unexplored for all these years. Type-Moon seems to be more interested in exploiting her cuteness and joking about the fact that she is only half of a heroine, sadly.
Is it any good?
Ayako's cool, but frankly, if we were to choose a minor character to give the heroine treatment, I'd go with Himuro. The fact that, hair color and quietness aside, she is the embodiment of 90% of the women I've ever fallen in love with (including my current girlfriend) probably helps.

But I don't see any benefit in it, what would you like to see explored about her that Heaven's Feel didn't already do? I don't think there's enough there to fuel an entire route focusing on her.
Well, Nasu says it's the Illya route...Is it any good?
It's generic mahou shoujo stuff mixed with Fate lore and loli fanservice.
Illya is an actual child and a completely different character, basically 11 year old Shirou.
It does cool things later on but most of it is recycled ideas from FSN.
Illya is probably the most mentally broken character in the entire cast - and, considering said cast includes people like Sakura Matou and, well, Shirou Emiya himself, that's saying SOMETHING. And that's not getting into the fact that her body and mind are severely mismatched in development - the novels hint ever so slightly at the effect this had on her mental health, but never really bother to elaborate on it. Heaven's Feel pretty much only allowed us to grasp the very tip of that iceberg and Hollow Ataraxia made her a far more well-adjusted, stable person. She's probably the character who experienced the most mental development from F/SN to F/HA, but we were shown very little of how that happened. I understand that expecting a deep dive into something so complex from Nasu might be asking too much, but damn, I at least want to see him try.

Not trolling, but I think he meant less like "here's a legitimate fourth route of FSN (now with mahou shoujo)" and more "here's where you can get all that Illya screentime you wanted."

I can only imagine the despair, anguish and self-hatred on hiroyamas face when nasu went “haha why would i make illya route when hiroyama already made it lmfaoooo xDD”. Surely there is nobody on this planet that wanted illya route more than hiroyama
