I will admit to exaggerating, but still, we will never know for sure why they liked what they liked, if they in fact liked it. Also, I'm talking mostly about prehistoric humans.
Was not expecting this to be the discussion when I opened this thread.

Spoiler:
There are some preferences that are universal and preferred by most of the population.
Preferring symmetry, big tits, big ass are quite prevalent. This is likely due to they are predicters for health and reproductive success.
You can say "but I like small tits".
That's fine, but you are in the minority.
I should probably be offended by this? I dunno. I believe that our freedom to evolutionary select beyond basic caveman standards, including things that could be considered outright genetic flaws (such as weak eyesight -GIRLS IN GLASSES ARE CUTE- or buck teeth -not my thing but I hear it's all the rage in Far Eastern countries) is a badge of our success as a species to be able to truck along despite this "baggage".

Are statistics objective enough for you? Such as "90 out of 100 paleolithic onwards depictions of female goddesses share those same characteristics?"

shit BL says
Once and always and nevermore.
Welp, it's subjective to the effects of erosion, mold, rotting, and any other form of material degradation processes that happen, impossibilitating us from finding any more than there currently are, or will be in the future. There feasibly could be hundreds of artifacts we just don't know about because of the effects of time.

I like Takeuchi's art and I don't particularly dislike anything TM has made enough to actively shit on it at every opportunity. Not that I am a fanboy who thinks they can do no wrong I am just utterly unoffended by stuff that fails to impress so I don't bother exerting the energy.
What if I were to tell you that while humans weigh towards platonic forms due to inborn aptitude for visual calculus, symmetry is in fact aesthetically off-putting and truly symmetric faces are uncanny valley kind of ugly? Pretty people have beauty marks, uneven facial musculature, and often sideways facial hair.
That's somewhere in the very basics of art theory, btw.
yeah, I remember that chapter in medaka box
かん汗ぎゅう牛じゅう充とう棟
Expresses the exceeding size of one's library.
Books are extremely many, loaded on an oxcart the ox will sweat.
At home piled to the ridgepole of the house, from this meaning.

Well, it's why we have memes like golden ratio rather than just splitting every composition halfway infinitely. Nature is lopsided, everything returns to the spiral in the end.
