Kiritsugu is a dirty mercenary-> stares at butterflies when he should be paying attention not to burn the house down-> Shirou's survival instincts and self-dependency habits kick in-> Cooks pretty much everyday for the household from then on-> turns out Sakura and Rin more or less match him in skill with less time and/or effort

Not to say Shirou isn't a good chef, but his natural aptitude for it is often overblown as a joke and it becomes fanon that he's lifetime prodigy when it's instead a product of his good work ethics.

true, though by going by that logic Shirou probably did become a master chef when he got around Archers age, since he can only keep getting better.

that said this gets me thinking on a scene I remember in GO where Emiya states that Boudica is better then him in cooking, he’s just more expierenced in modern dishes. So yeah Emiya really doesn’t innate talent for the most part.

I avoided using Sakura as the example for that reason even though her powerlevel is implied to be higher still, and Rin simply tends to be good at almost everything.
