See, that's another cool thing that the entire work of Tsukihime is built around, but which turned out to not be a terminus technicus in-universe, and proceeded to never be mentioned again. Not even in Melty Blood, and Melty makes it a point to ram in as many dead on arrival references to things that were never meant to exist as possible.

What do you mean by this? Isn't the issue more that most of the characters we see in most TM works don't suffer from that issue, so of course it's not brought up as it isn't relevant to their lives?

I mean, Archer started out believing what he did had meaning and was only disillusioned later. To show Shirou sticking to his convictions and being rewarded by the narrative by having the orphans die on their own instead of him having to take some kind of action isn't exactly "Oh, yeah, he's definitely not following Archer's path", to put it mildly.
