you know what else is counterproductive to the point of the thread
Shirou: There is meaning for me in chasing this.
Archer: I NEVER HAD MEANING.

I mean, Archer started out believing what he did had meaning and was only disillusioned later. To show Shirou sticking to his convictions and being rewarded by the narrative by having the orphans die on their own instead of him having to take some kind of action isn't exactly "Oh, yeah, he's definitely not following Archer's path", to put it mildly.
My fanfics:
The Gift (F/SN): The last duel between Cú Chulainn and Scáthach.
Passion Acknowledged (F/SN): Shinji X Shirou lemon
He Was a Good King (F/SN): Was Beowulf a good king?
A Fairy Tale of Love and Death (F/SN): A meeting between Scáthach and King Hassan.
Palingenetic Descension (Tsukihime): The origin of the Tohno family's hybrid nature.
Archer's upset because he thinks he's just an imitation rather than having something to begin with, having forgotten he did have something to begin with.
Shirou's epiphany in Fate is that there's even more than that something he's carrying.

Accel Zero.
Fate/Zero.
Except unlike the way Raff phrased it, everyone else was there to beat the shit out of each other and Alex was the one that went "screw that, come work under me and let's all go on an adventure". IknowIsaidIwouldntstartbut
The adventure known as world war 3 yes
Also, about the rip your arm off thing he said to Kariya, that was him in his weird way trying to spare Kariya and Sakura by making Kariya believe he had no choice but to relinquish his Master rights, and he didn't plan to hurt Sakura either.
Caster Yugi is summoned to Chaldea, spends his time bothering Cleo, Ozy, Nito and Iskandar to play foolish card games with him, they all keep discreetly slipping away with lame excuses.
Even Iskandar, who'd rather be playing videogames with Waver instead.
