Also, it feels weird to see that the Lancer clone has orange hair instead of the blue that I, as a Type-MOON fandom guy, am used to seeing. But hey, can't infringe too heavily on that copyright :P

I like the naming convention for Year One being called that, because it's evocative of the tradition of other "year one" superhero stories.

Very interesting anime so far. Not normally a fantasy person but G.S' take on the genre is certainly cool.
I like the fact that everyone is named after what they do, certainly makes it easier to remember who is who.
Definitely curious to see where this story is going.

Been with the manga for quite some time now. The story is great and the action is spicy. The anime is much tamer but I enjoy it all the same. Soon, all the main cast will be together. They're the most lovable bunch of peeps.

Yeah, I’m been spoiling myself to see if there’s more to this story besides the obvious edge and it looks like there’s enough substance that will make it entertaining or interesting at least.
Definitely enjoy the anime. GS himself is an interesting lead. And I love how his goblin killing is a display not of power like many isekai or fantasy MCs, but him showing the experience he's said to have and actually thinking about the most efficient way to kill the goblins. Using spells in ways not intended and all that. I also loved seeing that, despite what happened to Priestess' 1st party, rookie adventurers can clear goblin quests. GS' backstory with his sister also justifies why he'd break to the point of becoming obssessed with slaying goblins and doing nothing but that for all his adventurer life in an insane revenge quest. And I like how the guild guirls would like experienced adventurers to deal with the goblins instead of risking rookies. But they can't due to the low reward. Luckily there's an exerienced guy who only seeks goblin deaths as his reward.

I wouldn't call it edgy. In Mahou Shoujo Site, for example, the MC was a victim and too kind to all the assholes surrounding her. The world was made to make the magical girls suffer. Then, you have Happy Sugar Life or Angels of Death, where one of the main characters is a criminal (Child kidnapper and serial killer respectively), and everyone in those shows is nuts
GS has sane people, the MC is no criminal and he's just punishing monsters doing horrible shit for a good reason. He's not quite sane or well-adjusted, but he isn't like the MCs in other edgy shows.
Partenering up with GS seems to be going well for Priestess, so despite what happened to her 1st party, the show doesn't seem to be going out of it's way to make her suffer.
Besides the monstrous and villanous goblins, we haven't seen much assholery in humans themselves (just a flawed guild and quest system when it comes to the threat of goblins), so when I compare it to actual edgy shows from past seasons, it doesn't seem that edgy.
The rape can be too much, but it helps understand why GS does what he does and why he's seen by the guild guirls as a necessary presence

Love me some Goblin specialist Batman. There's no deep story, he's not out to save the world, he's just a small town specialist who does what needs to be done.
This is one of my favorite images of him as you can tell a lot about him & how he does things in one look.

This is a pretty fun show so far but idk if the whole exploitation movie flair of it won't get old real fast. That's what it reminds me of the most anyway: it has gratuitous sexual violence to get some boobs in there and then there's the regular violence that you feel absolutely justified in seeing because of the previously mentioned. I guess using a recipe that has been successful for countless 80s direct to VHS movies at least means you build on a solid foundation.
As far as edgy shows of recent memory go Happy Sugar Life is the superior one because that show tried to do more with its visuals, but I'm still optimistic about this one from what I got from manga readers.

Sometimes I feel like lvl just has a laundry list of things he wants to share and talk about and he just browses around topics until he can find a plausible hook to shoehorn one into a conversation
