I frowned, looking at Travis with unblinking wide eyes as I crossed my arms.
"To me, it is you lot who are the strange ones," I said, blowing a stray strand of hair out of my eyes. "Frankly, I can't understand half of what you do. Elaine and I have... An understanding."
I should really try to speak to her at some point, but doesn't she seem really busy? I don't want to bother Elaine. Maybe if I bribe her with a treat?
"Hmm... Perhaps if I brought the tiny morsel to her... Then maybe we could become closer friends!"
Travis looked deep into my eyes, so I naturally stared back as he spoke.
"I believe her name was... Tiberia Stetanto? She is apparently some kind of personal doctor for Cesarina."
I vividly remembered her eyes when she looked at me and frowned.
"She is... A person who is easy to dislike, suffice to say. She was also..."
I tried to remember what the woman looked like.
"Very... Green? Yes! She was a green person. She appeared after Professor Leuzinger called her, so she must have already been around."
I looked around surreptiously before leaning in close to whisper something to Travis.
"Between you and I, Travis I've started to suspect that we are all just experiments in some kind of mad scheme! A grand and devious sort of machination that stretches across all of Road's End, perhaps even further! We were brought here for a reason, after all!"
I looked at him with wide shining eyes, my body shaking a bit as I stared at him.
"And isn't that... Isn't that so terribly exciting?! Except for the part where Cesarina is involved. I'll kill anyone who hurts her, but that's only natural."
I closed my eyes, nodding with a contented smile. It was good to have friends.
