In Saber's case, her hatred of loosing is a gag, but it's also based on one of her core character conflicts.

If you still have the source un-dithered frames that were used to make your GIF animation, then it shouldn't be that difficult to make an animated PNG.
Anyway, due to developer politics, most people are like you and do not know either. Maybe if the political stuff didn't happen around a decade ago, then we wouldn't have the unfortunate situation of people calling any and all short animations/videos a "GIF".
So yeah, for reference, animated PNGs are actually over a decade old as a format, but the politics didn't subside until a couple years ago when Apple implemented widespread support of the format for their own use (mainly for iMessage stickers) rather than re-inventing the wheel. And as everybody knows, Apple doing something is more than enough for many others to follow in their lead, and so suddenly APNGs support became a thing.

Why would you even bother archiving it... The development version of the game doesn't even use xp3, we only archive them on release.
Me thinks you're drunk - the files already are in 7z and ZIP archives and not in XP3; I just include the mention of .xp3 in the filename so that it's clear which "mute.wav" goes where.

You're not meant to take those scenes literally or seriously, man. They're jokes/gags. And yes, to me, Fuji-nee is just super energetic and kind of dimwitted at times, but not crazy.
