It delivered the action, tho. Last Encore delivered jack all.
It's true, other than the fights with Gawain and Twice, Last Encore's action scenes were very weirdly paced - they were basically over so quickly they didn't have the emotional impact they wanted to have. Apo, on the other hand, had an abundance of meaningless fights, so eh. (Though Mordred vs. Semiramis was very cool!)
Apocrypha is very straightforward. You know what you're getting is the equivalent of a popcorn movie and it delivers on that, even if it never reaches great heights (aside from music and animation, it did very well on that front). On the other hand Last Encore tried for loftier goals and fumbled them all.

Last Encore is sorta of a semi-episodic thing, so it sorta makes sense for quality levels to be all over the place between parts, but the only actually enjoyable ones were Shinji's and Alice's.
Everyone complaining about Apo and Encore and here I'm fuming at the complete character assassination Charlemagne went through in Extella...
The sooner I can get that thing and that frankensplit out of my system, the better.
How so? Was it just the Karl/Charlemagne split? In any case, Charlemagne IRL was a huge holier-than-thou individual.

FGO did a lot for his personality. It turned him into a big dork who tries to talk all mysterious and mighty but keeps fumbling his lines, is concerned about how much time the player is spending grinding the quests, and tries to ask to be friends then gets all flustered and goes "never mind, forget it".
Like he still doesn't come close to Shirou but he's very endearing after the GO/Apo crossover.
And I still stand by that he has the best design of all the poll options.

I find him a bit over-designed, to be frank, but it is certainly better than most others on this list. Type-Moon is not too good with designing male main characters, for some reason.
As far as I am concerned, Shiki Tohno has the best design of all TM's male leads, as long he stays in his school uniform. In his casual clothes he's uglier than Gilgamesh.

As for Sieg's design, I like how his ahoges look like dragon horns.
T.Shiki is worst imo. He's super nondescript eroge lead, his only iconic traits being a pair of dumb looking glasses and the really ugly plastic blue color of his school uniform. Nu-Shiki is no longer ugly but he's not any less nondescript, in fact he's even more generic. If i saw fanart of nu-Shiki im not sure if i would realize its him unless there were obvious tells like the knife.
Original 2004 Shirou was also really ugly but super recognizable, nu-Shirou is good and still super recognizable.
Soujuurou is my fave. Cute and recognizable.
Ufotable had the right idea putting jackets over Shirou's frankly dumb shirt. I prefer the UBW one but HF's isn't bad either.
Ufo gave his wardrobe a makeover and takeuchi has quietly over time changed his hairstyle from the orange-ish super short almost curly cut to a redder, longer and spikier hairdo.
Shirou is slowly turning into a Shonen protag
