Plus a lot of his weapon designs look incredibly dumb and come off more as cosplayer props than something that would be used in a fight. Koyama's works in F/SN alone wipe the floor with him in that department.

FGO can’t be taken seriously because event stuff exists is a take on the level of FSN/Tsukihime can’t be taken seriously because Hollow/Kagetsu exist.

It's pretty great, especially since it confirms that the Taiga Dojo is a real thing in-universe and not just a funny 'oh you got the bad end' scene.
That's not my point. My point is: Weirdness and goofiness run in this franchise since it's inception. Just because a work has Comical elements, doesn't mean it can't be or shouldn't be taken seriously.

I mean obviously, but at the same time I understand why people say it's hard to take it seriously when you're in the Temple of Time trying to save all of history and gag characters from the silly star-wars-parody universe show up.
The Temple of Time was a collection of all the things we did and the character we met. It would be weirder to not include the joke Characters like they are something to be ashamed of and swiped under the rug. At the same time, it's not like MHX dived in and blocked Ars Almadel Solomonis, so the serious moments still keep their integrity.

Though abandoned, forgotten, and scorned as out-of-date dolls, they continue to carry out their mission, unchanged from the time they were designed.
