I genuinely hold the Apocrypha anime above Last Encore

With Last Encore, each episode's direction and aesthetic were almost always good enough to capture me, regardless of whether or not I was satisfied by the end of the episode.

Apocrypha looks like any generic action anime and the middle section is excruciatingly boring. All it has going for it is the best first episode in any Grail War Fate series and episodes 21 to 23. I could also praise its soundtrack but I couldn't hear it over that awful sound effect they used every time.

Also I only have like 3 moments I really like in the novels and 2 were cut so there's that.

The only part of Last Encore I liked was the one explaining the Rin and Rani clones because it was just so weird. Otherwise the series was a mess with too much of the core narrative explained on the website or in other side materials.

I can only imagine Last Encore is one of those things that are "better" if you're under the effects of drugs

Because it sure as hell sucked watching it with my mental faculties intact

I've never even done (illegal) drugs, but I know that's a fact

And great aesthetic too, but those things didn't save it.

It's still like, the second or third best Fate anime, but that doesn't mean it's good.

I liked the first two episodes of Last Encore, then after that it turned out to be something I wasn't interested in. I was way more excited over the worldbuilding than I was over Hakuno & Nero moving up floors. Rani interested me a bit, but not enough to keep me invested.

I still don't get why you like Last Encore

It had flaws - objective ones, too -, but it aimed high instead of sticking to the well-trodden path, and I'm of the opinion that a lot of the time it did reach what it aimed for.

I do remember feeling that at times but it wasn't often, and on the whole it's just a great series.
Also, TAa's art might be amazing but food just needs color.

The main problem with the manga is that it did not make me hungry. The anime, on the other hand...

Obviously they don't even get close to Shirou but Extra Hakuno is decent. Foxtail Hakuno is also fun.
Though Extella Hakuno is awful, Link Hakuno is boring and Nikuiman was great for 1 episode before turning out boring like the others.

CCC is where Hakuno is at their best. It stays consistent with all of their great Extra characterization, but without having Extra's huge problem of the first 4 opponents being pretty much nothing beyond very blatant accessories for Hakuno's character arc.

That's good to hear, I'm learning Japanese and there's a translation team actually working on it so one way or another I'll eventually get to experience CCC "soon" enough.
