    1. Just to make sure there isn't a "You need to spend a whole week in Satan's House to get the inheritance" clause.

Quick Note: We had a tie last time, so I put it to a coin flip. The winner was choice 1.

    ★ ★ ★

After some contemplation, you decide to first get your inheritance sorted out. It’s true that it isn’t super urgent, but it’s pretty important and probably something better to get done sooner than later. Once you get a good grasp on your fortune, you’ll probably have a better idea of both what you have as well as what you’ll need to do in the future. Besides, you can’t really call your self an heir if you don’t have something to inherit.

With that in mind you arrange to meet up with the lawyer to finalize the inheritance process.

    ★ ★ ★

All in all, the meeting goes rather well. Without much delay, you met with the lawyer in his office, a small, musty room made even more cramped by numerous filing cabinets, where he calmly and professionally walked you through every single thing you would be inheriting. The lawyer in question was a tall and lanky British gentleman with an eternally exhausted expression befitting any man in the field of law. You aren’t exactly sure how Magi law works, but he didn’t seem any different from any other regular attorney, so the process went smoothly.

A lot of your fears that there might be absurd conditions or clauses to getting your inheritance amounted to nothing. All you really had to do was sign a few documents, extract a little blood for some magic contract stuff, and you were good to go. It took basically the whole day, but it wasn’t anything difficult.

To make a long day short, in summary, you are now a very wealthy girl. In addition to the majority of your family’s fortune, which amounts to a sum that nearly made you faint when you first saw it, you will also be gaining a number of properties belonging to your family, including the main mansion in Germany as well as a villa here in England. Furthermore, your family holds a number of patents with the Clock Tower and you will be receiving annual royalties from them. Also, your grandfather apparently held a number of titles and honors within Clock Tower, but those won’t be transferred to you, not that you really understand what that means. Overall, you find yourself suddenly feeling the weight of the family whose name you are inheriting.

There are, however, a few problems.

The first is regarding a couple of properties that you’ve inherited. According to the lawyer, your grandfather owned both a classroom and a dormitory associated with the Clock Tower. Apparently, the old man was an avid teacher and worked as a magic lecturer even in his later years. He not only taught, but personally owned both the classroom he taught in as well as some dorms for his students to stay at. Unfortunately, during his last year of life when his health turned for the worst, he had to quit teaching and the classroom was left empty. Now that he’s gone, the classroom is left both student less and teacher less.

So, it’s been more than a year since the classroom has been in use and the maintenance costs are racking up. The dorms are in about the same shape, but they were apparently emptied out even before the classroom. They’re still usable, but they’re apparently old-fashioned for modern standards so no students really wish to live there. Either way, right now, they’re just sitting there being a waste of space and money.

The lawyer mentions that ideally you’d take over your grandfather’s position, but that’s basically impossible since you don’t know any magecraft. Thus, it’s up to you what you would like to do with these properties. Apparently, the school year’s starting up soon, so if you want to revive the classroom, you’ll have to decide soon. If not, you can keep them sitting there or even sell them if you want.

What will you do with these properties?

    Classroom:
    1. Sell it
    2. Revive it
    a) Find a teacher to take over the classroom for you
    b) Manage it yourself, somehow?
    3. Keep it for now and decide later.

    Dormitory:
    1. Sell it
    2. Revive it
    3. Keep it for now and decide later

    3. and 3.

It doesn't seems very urgent (it's already dead right now anyway), but I plan to revive it and attend them myself.

    3 and 2.

Come on, the school year is starting soon - all those students must already be stressing out about finding a place where they can live, we can at least throw them a bone. :>

You have decided. You will revive your grandfather’s classroom. After all, you became a magus to respect his wishes and carry on the legacy. It’s only natural for you to accept his responsibilities.

With your decision made, the lawyer helps walk you through the legal process of re-instating the classroom and all the necessary paperwork. The affiliated Department will have to approve of the reinstatement before you can start accepting students, but the lawyer mentions that it shouldn’t be a problem since it’s only been dead for less than two years. There shouldn’t be any major problems with starting it up again.

Besides the issue with the properties, though, there is another problem regarding your inheritance that the lawyer brings up: the Magic Crest. You don’t fully understand what it is, but you have been told that it is something that is passed down from generation to generation and can be considered the Essence of a Magus. Naturally, it is also a part of your inheritance and is currently being preserved, ready for transfer at any time. However, in light of your inexperience, the lawyer advises you not to receive it, at least not yet.

According to his explanation, there is a risk of rejection when transplanting the crest which increases with differences in genetic make-up and compatibility. Normally, it would be transferred over one’s childhood to decrease the risks. You, however, are already a near fully matured adult and have no experience with controlling Magic Circuits. Furthermore, since you’ll be receiving it from your grandfather, there’s a generational genetic gap that will further increase the danger. Thus, it has been advised for you to give up on inheriting it, for your own safety.

Besides that, though, those are all the details regarding your inheritance. With everything settled, you thank the lawyer for his time and head out, having finally fully received the fruits of your heritage.

    ★ ★ ★

Now that you’ve grasped a hold of your possessions, you can move forward on your journey as a magus. Now, you have a current goal to move towards: reviving your family’s classroom.

Since you don’t know magecraft, you’ll have to hire teachers to essentially work over for you. Depending on your goals, you may even have to personally go out and recruit students. It’ll be a lot of hard work, but it’s not without reward. Without the ability to cast magic, you currently have no true connection to the world of magi besides your blood. But, once the classroom is revived, you’ll have established your place within the Association. Furthermore, you’ll be able to establish connections with the other magi that pass through your classroom. If your mission is to carry on your family’s legacy, those are both great boons on your path.

So, your first step is now clear. Your journey starts here.

Before we move on, please choose the specifications of your classroom

What Faculty is the classroom affiliated with?

    1. Write-In

Note: If a majority consensus is not reached, this will default to General Fundamentals

What type of classroom would you like to employ?

    1. Mentor-Model:

The Classroom will serve as a workshop in which students enroll as apprentices to the teacher. Rather than having a specific curriculum, the teacher will work with the students closely and help them improve their magecraft. This model requires the most work for both you and the teacher but results in strong bonds with the students.

    2. Course-Model:
The Classroom will serve as a workshop in which a specific subject outside of one’s core apprenticeship is taught, such as gem-cutting or herbology. The lecturer would be a specialist in that subject and students from all around will enroll in the course. This model typically draws in more students but it is difficult to establish connections with them.

    3. Rental-Model:
The Classroom will serve as a lecture hall where many different courses, seminars, and lectures will take place for a variety of subjects. Rather than belonging to one single lecturer, it will be essentially rented to the Association and used a general classroom for a variety of other courses. This model requires the least work for you but you’ll essentially be giving up control of the classroom.

    1. Astronomy (I feel like with how ritual centric Astronomy shown to be, they has the highest chance to be operated without using our own untrained and unmeasured magical capacity?)
    2. Mentor-Model (not socializing with the students aren't fun, and maybe we can also learn from it by actively participating in it?)

    “Mmmmmmnmnmnmnmmnmnmnmnmnmnmnmnmnmnmnmnmnmnmn”

It was a hot, summer day in London, free of clouds, yet your future couldn’t seem any darker. Accompanying the chirps of summer insects, a muffled scream echoed through the apartment as you smothered your frustration with your pillow.

Two weeks have passed since you accepted your inheritance, but things haven’t been going well. Despite your best efforts, you have yet to find a lecturer to teach in your classroom. You’ve practically run yourself ragged searching all over London for someone to accept your offer, but to no avail.

The problem seems to be a lack of faith in your classroom’s future. All the prospective and available magi don’t want to associate with a classroom run by a fresh, unknown novice. They want to teach in big, established workshops with plenty of history. Every magi you’ve talked to in these two weeks has expressed serious doubts in both your classroom’s potential to attract talented apprentices as well as your own ability to manage a classroom.

“Frederica Eru? Never heard of you before. Sorry, but I’m gonna teach in an Animusphere classroom. If you get like two dozen prodigies in your class, then maybe we can talk.”

Just like that, they brushed you off in favor of more stable prospects, but you can’t even muster a reason to blame them.

Things might be different if you had a bunch of appealing students lined up, but that’s another problem. Just as no one wants to teach a classroom without good students, none of the students want to enroll in a class that doesn’t have a lecturer. It’s a catch-22, chicken or egg situation. Without one, you can’t get the other, and since you have neither, you’re screwed.

There’s going to be a departmental meeting in another two weeks. All the classroom leaders and lecturers in the Department of Astronomy will be meeting to discuss the upcoming semester and, among other things, finalize the list of students. During the meeting, you’re expected to present your list of apprentices, so you need to pick up some students before then. If not, worst-case scenario, the department will cancel the reinstatement of your classroom this year.

Just thinking about the task ahead makes you lose motivation. You sink further into your bed as if bushed down by the weight of your responsibility. Pessimistic thoughts fill your head. Maybe… maybe you should just give up this year.

No, Frederica. You can’t give up yet.

Suddenly, you feel as if a voice reached out to you. A warm, comforting light peers in from the window, dying the room in a divine glow. Could it be… is this a divine message from above, encouragement from the goddess herself?

You are immediately filled with vigor. The goddess is right. You can’t give up yet. The battle has only just begun.

You swore to enter the world of magic without fear, to inherit your family legacy. No matter what trials are matched against you, you shall persevere and become a true magical girl… no, you’ll become a true female magus, a witch!

Wait, what? No, no, no, becoming a witch is a bad idea.

Enthusiasm and determination fill you. You immediately leap off your bed to go and rethink your strategy, leaving behind the divine light as you head to your next adventure. No matter the challenge, at least your optimism will not lose to any magical girl!

Oh, dear, this isn’t going to end well…

    ★ ★ ★

Anyways, dumb metaphysical hallucinations aside, the task of reviving your family classroom still looms over you. Unfortunately, no one seems eager to join you, student or teacher alike, so you need something to turn the tables, something to change the playing field. What do you have that can convince people to join your classroom?

Well, you do have a lot of money. Perhaps some sort of monetary benefit that other classrooms can’t offer would work? Besides that, though, the only other relevant possession you really have are the dorms. Could that be used as a bargaining chip somehow?

For now, though, you should try to focus on one side of the equation, mentor or apprentice. Once you get one under your belt, the other should follow.

So then, what can you do to fill your classroom?

Please choose whether to search for a teacher or students first and then one of the related options:

    1. Find a lecturer first
    a) Offer better pay than other classrooms
    b) Look for a less-valued magus who other classrooms wouldn’t accept as a lecturer
    c) Demonstrate your Japanese spirit and beg with the ultimate Dogeza
    d) Write-In

    2. Find students first
    a) Offer scholarships/sponsorships for students who enroll
    b) Offer free dorm space for students who enroll
    c) Gather all the problem students in the department
    d) Write-In

2c, trouble students may be geniuses or people with weird mindset that doesn't mind your freshness.

because while 1a sounds like risky but logical move, it can be a ticket to be hated by the other classes. While 2a, I don't think scholarship from dead class means jack.

Hmm, High-Risk-High-Reward here. Took HBM's suggestion.
