Fate/Tiger Coliseum: Remake
Fate/Tiger Coliseum: Remake
I'm not really interested in Extra stuff but I care insofar as it'll be nice to finally have a version of the game that's playable.
I really want to be able to tell my friends that, when they ask about Extra, yeah they can just go play the game. Now if I do that they're more likely to make a quick google search and find 99% of internet hating the game, so you know.
"It's a visual novel, don't worry about the gameplay. Just enable cheat." Has always been my preferred cope.
Welp, tell them that the OG aged badly for a game, and they're better off to wait and play Record instead.
Extra was bad from the very beginning
That... I can't deny. What especially egregious back then is how poorly thought out the arena system, like it really hinders grinding exp by not letting you save in it, and how you pass the day as soon as you leave the arena, so I had to resort to cheat.
5 Years later and there's still no allusions or hint on what these are supposed to be. I guess Extra Record is the mid-sized project (Bandai Namco is probably the collaborator), but what the other 2 are is still complete mystery. He can't give details about the 3 games Studio BB is producing because they are not in a presentable stage yet. They already started development in August for 1 of them, a mid-sized project in collaboration with another company. Then when the year started, they started the development on the other one, a small-sized project that can be done entirely within the Studio BB. Both of these games will serve as a build-up for the aforementioned Tsukihime-sized 3rd project, both in the TM lore they will present and as way to make the Studio BB team more experienced.
I honestly consider CCC as the big one. With Extra experience they can safely transit to production of the best part.Even the cost of production will be lower. When Extra will finally comes out we will be able to confirm or debunk it.
Studio BB spending 8+ years on Extra remakes would be extremely disappointing. There's honestly zero chance the big game they want to build up towards is another Remake.
Considering they clearly struggled with Record, I can't imagine the other projects have had any significant progress either.
If anything, after Record, a CCC remake would go a lot smoother. I can kind of see the logic in going with that. Record was really bumpy, but if they can smooth out the kinks and make a CCC remake in a faster and more efficient manner, then it would be a confidence booster. On the other hand, if they struggle with a remake of the sequel, then I'd honestly feel kinda uneasy about their future prospects.
Considering it's their maiden project, understandable that they're playing it safe by making a remake. They're testing how efficient they can be to make a game, which from this development suggests not much. I wouldn't be surprised if the other projects are remakes as well, since it helps that they have foundation for instead of building from scratch.
Yeah, 10 years of nothing but remakes is really great and make me hopeful for this company. I am glad these people are such full of innovation and imagination.
In fairness, we never saw the original draft of Mahoyo so it's not like the fact that what we currently have is a "remake" affects us all that much. Frankly, it's probably more comparable to a final draft, whereas the original novel was probably just the first or second draft. We the consumers have nothing to compare it to. In reality, the only actual "remakes" produced by TYPE-MOON are Tsukihime and Fate/EXTRA Record.
But frankly, either way, I actually don't have much confidence in Studio B.B. They clearly bit off more than they could chew and I'm not entirely certain they have any idea what they're doing. Given how things have been going, had they chosen a completely original project to start with instead of Record, I'd imagine it would have been stuck in development hell for even longer. It might have even gotten canceled and the studio closed down. Maybe I'm being overly negative, but I do think it's pretty bad that a remake of all things is taking so long. The Tsukihime remake was understandable since Nasu's attention was stolen by FGO for so long, but what excuse does Studio B.B. have other than incompetence? Last I heard, Nasu's barely even involved in Record.
