    Create A Singularity / Lostbelt

    ~[Create A Singularity / Lostbelt]~

    So, since we were discussing ideas for our own temporal anomalies and condemned timelines at another thread, I decided it would be more productive if we had a place to store all those ideas and have others give us feedback on them. Same thing as what's been done for Mages and Servants, only this time we can create settings and challenges for the wonderful people of Chaldea to be put through. Or if you prefer, you can force the locals caught on those messes to solve them with the help of the servants being summoned to correct them. I've put together a few simple templates that point out what I consider to be the most basic aspects of both Singularities and Lostbelts, as well as some information on both, to make sure people don't get mixed up.

    WARNING: If you have not completed Arc 1 of FGO or is unaware of the plot surrounding Arc 2: Cosmos in the Lostbelt, please avoid reading the spoiler sections.

    What is a Singularity?
    Spoiler
    As per word of god (wikia), a Singularity is defined as an unobservable region which does not exist within recorded history. As if a hole has opened within the timeline whilst remaining separate from the regular time axis. In Fate/Grand Order, we are shown Singularities created and maintained by Holy Grails manufactured by Goetia, which were then handed over to key individuals within specific time periods in order to cause massive disruptions in human history and cause the Human Order Foundations to collapse. The power of the Grails and the circumstances within the Singularities allow for the summoning of Servants and their continued existence in the world, even without a Master. Various Servants are summoned to the era under these conditions without individuals performing a summoning ceremony, playing a key role in bringing about the disruption to history, as well as resolving it.The seven primary Singularities of Fate/Grand Order have Human Order Foundation Value, which serves to quantify the inherent danger to human history and how much disruption it is causing. Additionally, the creation of a Singularity may bring about the creation of Sub-Singularities due to the fluctations in time which spread out through history like a wave.

    What is a Lostbelt?
    Spoiler
    Different of singularities, which are distortions along the timeline which makes up the Human Order, Lostbelts are wholesale different timelines. Unlike 'proper' human history, which could be said to have been created through 'correct' choices and proper propserities, a Lostbelt is classified as the history of 'losers', where wrong choices and improper prosperity are considered 'unnecessary' and thus were cut off from even becoming parallel worlds, leading to a 'dead end' in human history.Lostbelts are maintained by a Fantasy Tree, which also allows the domain's expansion as it grows. Unlike Singularities, which were caused by individuals who have been given Grails, a Lostbelt has both a King, who has authority over the Tree, as well as a Crypter, who develops a working relationship with the King and aids them in expanding the Lostbelt. Should two Lostbelts clash, the one composed by a greater Human Foundation will takeover the weaker and use it as fuel for further expansion. Similar to Singularities, Lostbelts possess a 'Lost Depth' value, which quantifies the degree to which its history has deviated from the proper course of the human order.

    Template: Singularity
    Spoiler
    Name: The Wicked Dragon Hundred Years' War - Orleans
    Subtitle: The Holy Maiden Savior
    Human Foundation Value:C+

    Location: France
    Year: 1431 A.D
    Grail Holder: Gilles de Rais
    Factions: Dragon Witch Faction, Chaldea Security Organization

    Description of Events: Shortly after Jeanne d'Arc was burned at the stake. Gilles de Rais attempted to resurrect Jeanne with the Holy Grail, but was unable to, instead creating a new Jeanne out of the Grail itself, twisted by Gilles's wishes and feelings. Jeanne Alter summoned five more Servants, giving them all the attribute of the Berserker Class. Jeanne Alter, Gilles de Rais and their forces subsequently began a campaign of revenge against France, killing King Charles VII and many others.

    Template: Lostbelt
    Spoiler
    Name: Permafrost Empire: Anastasia
    Subtitle: Princess of the Land of Beasts
    Lost Depth: D

    Origin: 1570 A.D
    Location: Russia
    King: Ivan the Terrible
    Crypter: Kadoc Zemlupus
    Fantasy Tree: Orochi

    History: This Lostbelt diverged from that of Greater History of Man when an asteroid struck and plunged the world into an ice age. Most humans died, and while Russians were used to the cold and prepared for such weather, 90% of their population perished and they were on the cusp of extinction. Ivan the Terrible and his mages were able to save the country by combining humans with magical beasts, creating the Yaga, with Ivan himself becoming the first.

    Guess I'll kick things off with a copypasta of the relevant deets from my Helena LB Queen sheet.

    Name:
    Lemurian Venusian London (L∴V∴L)
    Subtitle: Melting-Pot Delusional Reality
    Lost Depth: B-

    Origin: 1900AD
    Location: British Isles, London
    King: Helena Blavatsky (a.k.a Helena Alter)
    Crypter: ???
    Fantasy Tree: Circinus

    History:
    The details of Helena's life remain the same as always. What it was that brought upon a change in her enough to lead to the classification of her world as a Lostbelt is her death. Not her death as it was known publicly, by influenza. That death was faked, to allow her to escape from the public eye and to pursue a free-spirited life devoted to learning and journeys. The point of divergence lies with her second, true death. Instead of succumbing to Clock Tower plots, her friend and ally, Sherlock Holmes -- who would have been present for her death -- managed to successfully preemptively thwart the attempt on her life, as opposed to his failure in Panhuman History.

    Helena was emboldened by the would-be assassination. She stipulated that if the organization had decided to take measures against her, then she was onto something. She assumed that her approach was validated as much as it was damned by the magi authority. She believed that her worldview and applications of said worldview could do more than influence magical theory, that it could revolutionize. She could forge a legacy that could stand for something greater than it did before. At that, Helena redoubled her efforts. She re-established contact with her closest friends, associates, allies. She took more voyages, gathered more research,
    made the dots connect
    connected more dots.
    . Forged relationships with more allies. Gained more influence. Thwarted more attempts -- some were closer calls than others. Adventures plentiful enough to fill volumes of pulps.

    She gathered more knowledge, and her strength grew. Her strength grew, and she obtained more and more means to protect that strength. Her soul blossomed, and her Reality Marble gelled. Helena could explore the world of the Mahatamas, but the prana needed to upkeep it was expensive, exhausting, all too brief. She'd have to delve deeper into the studies of bounded fields, alternate realms.

    Eventually, she hit upon a breakthrough that sent her on an expedition to the British Isles, the land of her dogged critics/enemies.

    The world of the Mahatamas, her world, was large. Nothing less would do. Less could have done, but there was no reason to turn away from her decision. The world of the Mahatamas is knowledge; knowledge is truth; the world grows upon the truth. If chaos were to well forth like hungry black tides by way of her theory, then she'd help to restore order and guide humanity with the light of Sanat Kumara as the lighthouse.

    With such convictions, she staked her Reality Marble to the surface of the world.

    She obtained Light. The Light was
    Truth(?)
    Knowledge.
    The World Egg bent to her worldview. The Earth was pulled apart and pieced together with a copy, or shadow, of Venus. Temples and monoliths and relics and landmarks and secrets from Venus were projected onto the surface of the world. Earth and Venus became more than just sister bodies -- they would be as Siamese twins; conjoined, as if always. London became, and was, Lemurian as much as it was Londonian. That civilization was restored, or perhaps came into being. And on the site of the Age-ushering ritual, a tree more vast and high than any mountain rooted. A band of light stretched forth from it, all the way to the distant star of the true Venus, enabling the tree to act as an orbital elevator that bridged the second and third planets. This tree, a modern Yggdrasil, became known as the Ultimate Tree Bridge, and it would be ground zero for human contact with extraterrestrial life. Beings of many shapes, sizes, and origins came to Earth -- Venusians. Venusians which may or may not have truly existed without her, but which the hidden truths that connected everything confirmed. With Earthlings, Venusians, and Lemurians on the same world, ideas, beliefs, martial stances (particularly the storied, difficult to master and difficult to answer to Lemurian School), and technologies were shared and built upon. Interactions between the races are not without conflict, but compared to strife inherent to Panhumanity it is on a considerable positive upswing.

    The new Age of Theosophy was a golden age for it. Theosophy's processes reigned uncontested. On the surface, the Association was kept in line, though murmurings of deep and isolated realms where the oldest of family systems are carefully cultivated, stayed for a turning of the tide. Theosophy grew in influence until it became the dominant faith and magic system of the world, greater than even the height of Christendom's. Other religions still existed, but their power and influence was diminished or, by necessity, recontextualized within the context of the new world. On the other hand, the degradation of Mystery has ground to a halt. Helena's Realty Marble isolated the Venusian-Earth from greater processes that would act upon it. Mystery was mysterious as much as it was to be known. It was a paradox to insulate all. Though the weather of the planet grew harsher, to reflect the Venusian aspect that had been added to it, the planet's residents adapted, to a degree and as a whole. Disasters still claimed lives, but it was no losing battle. Tesla and Edison, their relationship buffered by Helena's presence, but still highly explosive in its own way, were at the forefront of technological advancement and distribution. The development of robotics and electronic systems occurred much earlier in this timeline. Other comrades to Helena, their lifespans extended by means of all the boons of the cultural exchanges, likewise benefited in their own ways. As for Sherlock Holmes...

    But, the development of humanity proceeded too rapidly and down too narrow a path. The answers to the Human Order's questions weren't broad enough. It hungered for primordial stew boiled in a powder keg aglut with the mob tyranny of possibility.

    Helena Blavatsky's world became a Lostbelt, and its embers were left to smolder out on their own.

    Such as it was until a deal was struck. The Ultimate Tree Bridge, now a fruit-bearing plant, was no longer the only mega-fauna to jut forth from the surface of the planet like an extended stem. It was joined by a Quixotic Tree--

    --and Helena, the leader of the Theosophical State, became a Lostbelt Queen of the L∴V∴L Lostbelt, in addition to knowing the accompaniment of a magus known as a Crypter and their contracted Servant.

    Creator's notes

    Fairly bare bones, sure, since I didn't need to bother to think up anything else for the contest -- but the foundation is there enough that if I ever decide to do anything with it, its there and ready to be built upon. Having an actually existing and present Clock Tower might make for a good faction, add a unique, nostalgic yet different-enough angle to the story.

    For now, this is probably as far as I'll go, although I am working on a sheet (or two) for characters that'd play a role within said Lostbelt.

    Lostbelt ▄▄▄▄▄▄ --Endless Flower War of Independence
    Subtitle: Ranger at the End of the World
    Lost Depth: D+

    Origin: AD 1776
    Location: Mesoamerica/United States
    King:
    Tezcatlipoca
    “Hernan Cortes”

    Crypter: ▄▄▄▄▄▄
    Fantasy Tree: Sunflower

    In 1521, the Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortes and his thousands of Indian allies captured the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan, thereby ensuring the fall of the Aztec Empire and the Spanish domination over Mesoamerica.

    This is a world in which that event never happened.

    The capture of Moctezuma by Cortes did occur, as well as the subsequent occupation of the Palace of Axayacatl--Spanish control of the New World was almost assured. When word spread back to Cuba, the governor Velazquez sent a detachment to Tenochtitlan to take Cortes into custody, on the grounds that he was far exceeding his royal charter--and possibly committing treason. Cortes left one of his generals in charge of the city and the captured king as he went to meet the approaching army. However, instead of attacking the army lead by Narvaez, Cortes bargained with tales of the Aztecs and their insurmountable wealth. Hurrying back to Tenochtitlan to relieve his general and his nervous Indian allies, Cortes arrived in time for the festival of Toxcatl.

    Cortes agreed to allow the Aztecs to continue with Toxcatl on the condition that there would be no human sacrifice--a central practice and climax to the festival, in which a young man channeling the spirit of Tezcatlipoca for an entire year is sacrificed to appease the Smoking Mirror. The strange, incomprehensible practices leading up to Toxcatl disturbed Cortes. He believed that the Aztecs were planning on going through with a human sacrifice despite the warnings of the Spaniards. Revolt was a likely outcome, and on the day of the festival when the Aztecs initiated the Serpent Dance, Cortes decided that enough was enough. He ordered the gates of the palace closed, and sentenced thousands of Aztec men, women, and children to their deaths.

    But the Aztecs refused. The breaking point had been reached, and the arrogance of the Spanish invader was to be his death. Cortes was seized by the Aztecs, his heart neatly excised with an obsidian dagger before his allies could save him; an instant exchange in sacrifice targets.

    But something unthinkable happened. Something impossible.

    Cortes stood back up.

    And declared himself as
    White Tezcatlipoca
    Quetzalcoatl

    The rumors of the conquistador’s alleged divinity, were they more than just misrepresented propaganda? There was no other reasonable explanation. The man known as Hernan Cortes died that day, Quetzalcoatl had taken over his corpse. The hero god must truly be supreme, manifesting on the day of the festival for his archrival. However, such an assumption was sorely mistaken.

    The true identity of the being possessing the conquistador’s body:
    Black Tezcatlipoca
    Tezcatlipoca
    .
    Cortes
    The carnage that took place after the death and resurrection of Cortes is of a level that would be redundant to comment upon. Moctezuma was killed as a spiritual enemy to “Quetzalcoatl”, and the Aztec Empire fell under the unilateral power of Cortes. Spanish presence in the Americas ceased to exist in a matter of days.

    But then, strangely, an enormous percentage of the native population was also culled; attributed to a deadly disease. What was the mass depopulation of the Aztecs by smallpox in the Pan-History, was replaced by a truly alien disease. Through the machinations of “Cortes” and the earlier destruction of the land by Spanish artillery, the “gods from beyond the stars” of South America were disturbed. The extraterrestrial bacteria and microorganisms that composed their sleeping bodies quickly spread and ravaged the population, infecting the lifeforms their own brother Quetzalcoatl had given his blood to create.

    Mutating into something beyond human, this lost generation of Aztecs became a network of “feeling” for Cortes, similar to the fairies of the world: The Tzitzimimeh.
    Tzitzimitl

    Stronger, faster, and allegedly immortal, Cortes touted this new species as the beings that would dominate the planet after the Fifth Sun had fallen. Should they sacrifice enough foreigners to him and the other gods, Cortes promised to elevate his people to this next level of existence.

    The Aztec concept of the
    xōchiyāōyōtl
    flower war
    entailed a war that didn’t “place focus on real victory”, but was more of an elaborate mass ritual to appease the gods. The participating warriors would forsake their ranged weapons, fighting on a personal level to increase the odds of cultivating feats of arms. The fighting itself didn’t place any importance on necessarily killing the enemy, as a central goal of the flower war was to gather enemy forces as sacrifices.

    Using the flower war as a foundation, Cortes launched an offensive against the entire world. Soon enough, global society was forced to adapt to the constant onslaught. Arms manufacturing couldn’t keep pace with the demand. The ungainly muskets of the modern age were less than useless, they were detrimental to the cause of any resistance. The Aztecs did not provide mankind with enough time or space to make any kind of meaningful advancements--made even more crushing as war is the number one catalyst for technological progress.

    War was no longer about political regimes, ideology, or even survival. War has become a well-oiled machine for the consumption of life. Humans are born and humans die in approximately equal numbers every single day. There is no growth, and there is no decay.

    It is in this way that mankind has reached its Stagnation Point in the American Lostbelt.

    I'll bump with a repeat of my own.
    And the relevant sheet:

    If it's cool w/you, I'll still headcanon that Lewis has his usable Warframe-looking armor NP, if only because I think it makes for a striking mental image that helps to make him and all the stuff I'd imagine him doing in the Lostbelt memorable.

    Please do, I still kick myself for not getting it together before the contest ended, but oh well.
    If it helps, this was the image I had in mind when piecing the concept together.

    I am really interested on L. V. L Society. The way you described it makes it seem as the ultimate combination of mystic and science for the pursuit of knowledge and truth. I would love to know more about their culture, how the Lemurians and Venusians interact with us earthlings, what sort of lives do they lead and what other allies Helena might have in order to defend her dream utopia from Chaldea's desperate charge to reclaim the world.

    So, I've got quite a few projects coming up for this thread; a Romanian Lostbelt, a Macedonian Singularity, a Central American Lostbelt, and an Egyptian Lostbelt.

    The most complete of these projects is the Romanian Lostbelt and I will be posting the relevant sheet to the CaS2 thread within the next few days.

    The Macedonian Singularity on the other hand...

    Name: Chaos Sea: Holy Kingdom of Hell
    Subtitle: The Eternal Prince
    Lost Depth: A

    Origin: 190 B.C.
    Location: Persia
    King:
    Esfandiyār
    Crypter: NA
    Fantasy Tree: Whirlpool

    History:
    In Pan-Human History Esfandiyār was a great hero who was eternally denied his father Goshtasp’s kingdom until his death fighting the great hero Rostam under Goshtasp’s orders. In this lost belt though Esfandiyār defeated Rostam and was bringing him to his father which he said would be the last task Esfandiyār would have to do as a prince and finally give him the kingdom.

    At his castle though Goshtasp was panicking. He had sent Esfandiyār to fight Rostam because his magicians had prophesied that he would die in the ensuing battle. Goshtasp was not ready to give up the throne to his son yet and had to find a way to keep his kingdom. The king quickly came up with an idea and sent a small detachment of soldiers to go antagonize his neighboring kingdom and incite them into attacking. So when Esfandiyār had come to claim his kingdom he was told that a kingdom at war could not change rulers and he was ordered to go fight in the war.

    He won.

    Goshtasp was panicking once more. He needed another excuse to not give up the throne. So he started another war. Esfandiyār won that one too. It became a vicious cycle where Goshtasp would send troops to incite a war then send Esfandiyār who would win with ease and try to return for the crown. Soon nearly the entire known world was conquered as a side effect of this battle between father and son. Goshtasp eventually began escalating his requests.

    ‘How can I give up the kingdom if in my Egypt there is a serpent threatening to eat the sun! Go destroy it at once!’

    ‘In Greece a monster capable of destroying the world is awakening! If you truly wanted to be king you would get rid of it now!’

    This continued for years with Esfandiyār defeating impossible foe after impossible foe and absorbing their spiritual cores into himself becoming more god than man. However the power he absorbed mostly came from chaotic evil entities creating his Chaos Aura skill and Chaotic Sea Noble Phantasm. Through the interaction between those two powers and Esfandiyār’s inability to escape the cycle that his father trapped him in he is constantly creating new threats to the world subconsciously which he then absorbs which makes the next threat even stronger and so on to infinity.

    This is a world that exists in a deadly balance. Will a day come when Esfandiyār cannot defeat the next foe, or will he continue to grow until he is a presence that the world cannot even support. This is the Holy Kingdom of Hell.

    Creators Notes: So this is my first lostbelt that I had made for the create a servant contest. The description of the lostbelt is just the lore section I had for my Esfandiyār sheet but it covered it pretty thrououghly. Here's the link to Esfandiyār. In universe there is no way to defeat Esfandiyār as he constantly grows stronger without limit and there are no weaknesses or other gods to fuse with like in Arjuna's lostbelt. For Humanities Last Master to win they must win over Esfandiyār and convince him to destroy his own fantasy tree.

    Since everyone else seems to be posting their old Lostbelt ideas from the contest I might as well add mine too. I also finally came up with a name for Phidias' Lostbelt. Since Eidolon is a word for an idealized image of something, I thought it'd be a fitting name for what's meant to be a kingdom of eternal perfection.

    Lostbelt: Eidolos- Kingdom Of Stone And Marble
    Subtitle
    : Worth Of Fleeting Beauty
    Lost Depth: B

    Origin: 432 B.C.
    Location: Greece
    King: Phidias
    Crypter: ???
    Fantasy Tree: Lotus

    History:
    Born of his craving for a world of unchanging beauty, Phidias's Lostbelt is one where every living thing, including plants, animals and even humans, is crafted of artificial materials like bronze, marble and stone.

    Citizens born in his Lostbelt live normally as humans until their 13th birthday, upon which they undergo a special spiritual surgery where their soul is transplanted into a hollow automaton body. This is necessary because the soul has to mature to the certain extent before the ritual can be performed safely.

    These sculpted bodies free them from the limits of the mortal condition. They never age, grow sick, hunger or thirst. While they can still get injured and even die, their bodies are far easily to repair than normal humans. Even if limbs are cut off or destroyed, new ones can be simply sculpted in their place. And with Phidias's draconian social policies, any violent crime or accidents that could endanger his citizens are virtually nonexistent.

    As automata are sterile and unable to bear new life, some people are chosen to live longer before being converted so they can have children and contribute to the next generation.

    The citizens in his Lostbelt have immortal lifespans and don't need to eat or drink, so the only resource they need to consume is magical energy to fuel their automata bodies. Thankfully Phidias has more than enough Mana to go around generated by the divine cores from the countless gods he defeated and subjugated, harnessed to power his eternal kingdom. But even that resource, while self-replenishing, isn't infinite.

    To keep the population at a manageable level Phidias thus periodically orders lotteries. The "winners" get the honor and privilege of offering up their very bodies to become part of his glorious kingdom. Instead of dying, their sculpted bodies are melted down and added to the very stones comprising the kingdom's streets and buildings. The victims are still conscious in this state, but their souls are greatly diluted. They don't feel pleasure, pain, fear or sadness, merely a passive awareness that one is part of something larger and infinitely greater than oneself. As far as Phidias and most of the Lostbelt's citizens are concerned, this is the greatest happiness.

    Phidias can freely command all his sculptural creations. While he normally leaves his kingdom to run itself, quietly observing from his marble throne, he's free to seize control any time to snuff out any conflict brewing. None are permitted to reject his perfect ideals.

    His kingdom also has an army, consisting of all the heroes and gods Phidias defeated and sealed in statues during the early days of his conquests. This army is brought to bear against the rare threats that could disrupt the peace and integrity of his kingdom, annihilating them with overwhelming violence. Mostly, given the general peacefulness of his Lostbelt, the army serves a ceremonial function of standing guard over the king, Phidias himself.

    There's a resistance group in his Lostbelt called the Imperfects, composed of those who on their 13th birthday managed to escape being converted into statues. Rejecting Phidias's ideals for a perfect and unchanging world, they believe it's precisely the potential of growth and loss that makes life beautiful. Phidias has tried his best to stamp out the rebels, but he's been so far unable to eradicate them entirely.

    They remain an irksome thorn in Phidias's side to this day, embodying the hope for "another possibility" of a world that isn't bound to his rule.

    My Lostbelt looks more like a Singularity than like an actual Lostbelt, but I'll give it a try.

    Name: Vortigern: Phantasmal Tyranny
    Subtitle: Black Hole at the Ends of the World
    Lost Depth: A++

    Origin: 5th century AD
    Location: Europe
    King: Vortigern
    Crypter: ???
    Quixotic Tree: Evil-Eye

    History:
    It took something as simple as choosing the wrong weapon. Originally, Arthur used Excalibur first and killed Vortigern with Rhongomyniad, but the Arthur of this timeline began the battle with her lance instead. Unaware of Vortigern being able to eat light, she could only cower in fear as the weapon lost almost all of its brilliance, and with that, the blessing it bestowed her with. A blessing that only served to strengthen the dragon king, and allow him to defeat his adversaries. Covering the sky with dark clouds, he nullified the power of the Knight of the Sun and killed him first, then he put an end to the life of a desperate Arthur.

    Due to a mistake as simple as using a different weapon, the course of history changed. Without Arthur’s kingdom, the beasts of Britain were able to rebel against humans and dominate the whole island. The Age of Man never reached Britain completely. Any sort of invaders was repelled by the entities of nature, and soon the news spread all over the world. Britain became a kingdom of Phantasmals, a tract of land that couldn’t be inhabited by man…………… It would have been nice if only that happened, but over time, the population of Phantasmals increased to the point that they ran out of land, and they began moving to different parts of the world. By the end of the 15th century, almost all of Europe, the Middle East, and the North of Africa was dominated by Phantasmals again, with the exception of small redoubts in which the ever-decreasing human population took shelter.

    Without the Old World’s civilization, history wouldn’t evolve in the way it should at all. The colonies in the New World or the nations in the Far East wouldn’t suffice to let humanity evolve in an alternate way that could compensate for the loss of the Old World, and it was a matter of time before they lost to the Phantasmals too when they reached their land.

    During all this time, Vortigern kept existing as a dragon that ruled over the Phantasmals. Becoming stronger over time, he became able to eat the rest of the light from Arthur’s lance and sword. At the same rate he neglected his humanity, he became more and more connected to Gaia, truly becoming a King of Phantasmals that dominated the rest of beasts. He became powerful enough not to be opposed by anyone, but perhaps out of greed caused by the little humanity he could have left, perhaps out of a desire to survive, he sought a light that could satiate him, a light far brighter and stronger than that of the Holy Swords and the Holy Spear. If he were to find it, he would quite probably put an end to the World as it is known.

    Relevant characters to the story:

    • Archer – Isabel I: Originally the Catholic Queen of Spain. As the queen that put an end to the Reconquista, she has managed to defend a relatively significant portion of Spanish land from the attack of the Phantasmal Beasts.

    • Berserker – Minamoto no Yorimitsu: A summoned Servant. Her fame as a killer of monsters is indispensable for humans to survive.

    • Caster – Sieg: The closest thing to the dragon Fafnir that was registered as a Heroic Spirit. Given that Fafnir was a treasure-hoarding dragon, it is believed that the larger his treasure, the stronger he will become. A powerhouse in the making with the goal of facing Vortigern in a dragon vs. dragon battle.

    • "Idol" – Magi☆Mari?: A mysterious singer that cheers up the surviving humans in exchange for money. Her true identity is [REDACTED]Merlin, and she's the one to bring the idea of using Fafnir against Vortigern.

    • Archer Ötzi: A Rogue Servant. He acts as a scout that reports about the movements of the Phantasmal forces.

    • Ruler – Jeanne Darc: Mentioned only. France's main bastion against the Phantasmal Beasts, she died in battle.

    • Saber – Gilles de Rais: A living hero. Fighting together with Jeanne, he managed to survive and took her flag. He's frustrated for having been unable to protect her, but manages to avoid falling into darkness by remembering his fight is not over yet.

    • Rider – Medb: A queen whose charm rises the morale of the human troops greatly, her "barbarian and heretic" way of leading clashes greatly with Isabel's and gives way to a sort of rivalry.

    • Ruler – Fintan & Hawk: Acting as an advisor, the immortals' experience and knowledge in both the human and the animal world is of great help.

    • Caster – Morgan le Fay: The Servant summoned by the Lostbelt's Crypter. Originally her Master intended to help humanity, but she somehow gained control of them and sided with the Phantasmals. Her being a fairy allowed her not to be killed by the beasts. She intends to dominate Vortigern as well and rule over the remaining humanity as the commander of the Phantasmals.

    • Caster – Morgause: Not the original, but another homunculus made by Morgan to act in her place while she is safe. She originally has no free will. After battling against the main character, she opens up her heart and reveals a more humane personality.

    • Foreigner – "Francesca": A human? that sided against humans. Her real purpose is unknown even to Morgan, but she claims she "sensed that an old friend is having it rough and came to help".

    • Berserker – Vortigern: Ruler of the Lostbelt. Seeking to satiate his hunger for light, he attempts to reach the Farthest Ends in order to eat the light of the original Rhongomyniad.

    I would like to pose a couple of Singularity ideas that I've been throwing around, but I don't know which one(s) to develop. Lemme know if any of these sound interesting.

    A.D. 1895 - The Final Demon Night Inscribed in Crimson Stardust - Re:London -- Fall, The Misty Dragon Fortress [Grail Holder: Nosferatu]

    A.D. 1815 - Dread Coalition Against the Tyrant Emperor - Aachen -- Flight of the Unhallowed [Grail Holder: Napoléon]

    B.C. 1242 - The Indomitable Blood Fort of Hubris - Ilion -- The Shining Comet Blazing with Heroism [Grail Holder: Apollo]

    A.D. 1696 - The Drowned Bastille of Sunken Spiral Fantasies - R’lyeh -- The Nihilist Forge of Reverie [Grail Holder: "Nephren-Ka"]

    B.C. 2264 - The Unbroken Shackles of Divine Caliber - Babel -- The Primeval Hero-King Reigning Aloft God [Grail Holder: Marduk]

    I've got a couple others, but these are my favorites.

    Singularity B.C. 606
    Name: The Winged Sun and Infernal King of Kings - Assyria
    Subtitle: Ashur has Kept Alive
    Foundation Value: A++
    Location: Middle East
    Grail Holder: Ashur-uballit II
    Factions: Assyrian Empire, Chaldea Security Organization

    Description of Events:

    Harran, the capital of my empire after the Babylonian scum with their tribal allies burned the holy city of Sennacherib to the ground, has followed its brother. It is burning, dying, its last breaths labored along with my crumbling empire. It is the Carchemishite year, the last that will be named by Assyrian hands. Must it end like this? Babylonians, Chaldeans, Medes, Persians, Scythians and Cimmerians roaming my lands, Ashur’s lands, with impunity? Am I to die in the desert slain by my own bodyguards?

    In my hands a golden cup sat. When had I picked this up? Was I drinking wine before the city fell? I raised the cup to my face and attempted to smell the final drops of evaporated wine. My last taste of luxury before the sands swallow me whole.

    It smells of blood. It smells of blood and death and horror and pain.

    Hairs stood on end. My veteran stomach, no child to the terror of death, churned and threatened revolt upon its very vessel. My mind turned red with fire. I could think of nothing except the sulfur rain and the spectre of death that would hang over Babylon for a thousand years. It was the desert sun, I was burning alive. Hotter and hotter I felt. Gods above had I been set alight?! I patted my clothes and my hands came back the color of lapis lazuli. They cracked and molten gold flowed like blood from the wounds.

    I was alone in the sands. My bodyguards had left me. I did not care. I stood alone in the dunes and stared at the pillar of smoke on the horizon. Harran still burned. I looked at my hands again. The golden cup had returned. Had it ever left? I lifted it to my nose once more and breathed in the putridity of the exalted vessel.

    It smells of blood. It smells of blood and death and horror and pain.

    I held the cup aloft. Towards the golden sun I pointed the golden chalice and boldly proclaimed to the celestial body that I would set fire to the city of Babylon and I would set fire to the Euphrates river and I would set fire to the whole world for their transgressions against my empire, my lands, my universe. I was the King of Assyria! King of Babylon! King of Sumer! King of Akkad! King of Egypt! King of the Four Corners of the World! I demanded of the very sun that gave me life to fulfill its duty. It would grant me the power I needed, or it would be blotted out forever.

    Two golden wings sprouted from the sides of the sun. They shone with divine brilliance that mere mortal metal could never achieve. The very fires of the burning disc in the sky reached towards me like a royal procession. I was burning once more. The sand around me melted and turned molten but my physical form defied the powers of the earth and refused to kneel. The flames of the sun coated me in the melam of the Gods. My body grew, terrifyingly so, and I became a form of awe striking size. I was no longer mortal, no longer human. I had become divine, and the divinity that I consumed was Ashur. I could feel his presence, his will, his power. The Babylonians would pay, they would all pay, Ashur does not fall, Ashur does not collapse, Ashur does not burn.

    It smells of blood. It smells of blood and death and horror and pain.

    I stand alone outside the city of Babylon. There was nothing left of it but molten homes, fires in the streets, charred corpses, and crumbling walls. I had brought to the city what I had promised. Rains of sulfur and the spectre of death. Nabopolassar would return to his city and find it leveled, find it just as he left Nineveh. It was only fitting that I allow the Babylonian dog to see his city before I throw his corpse into the Euphrates. I turned and walked towards the ancient city of Ashur, my city, my very being.

    This world will burn for what it has done.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    After the fall of Harran the Assyrian King Ashur-uballit II was given a grail, though he did not know or understand that he had been given it explicitly. Using the grail he makes himself Ashur in the flesh, and with the powers of this monumental deity he has made it his mission to set the whole world on fire to punish humanity for what he believes to be their apostasy and hubris. His final goal is the merging of both An and Ki to end the Age of Humanity for good and usher in a new Age of Gods.
    To aid in this Ashur-uballit II has summon to himself seven servants to act as great generals and warriors.
    Servants
    Spoiler:
    Archer Sennacherib
    The powermad and imperious king who erased 80 cities from existence and removed entire cultures from the earth.
    Caster Ashurbanipal
    The authoritative and greatest of Assyrian Kings who built a library that would never again be rivalled in the world.
    Saber Sargon the Great
    The first emperor of men, the first great conqueror of lands, the first of all who could truly be called a king.
    Berserker Humbaba
    The beast of immortal age raised by Utu and slain by Gilgamesh and Enkidu. His look is death and his form terrorizing.
    Rider Achilles
    The Greek hero of such skill his mere presence is worth an army of men. Impervious to all assault save for the ankle which was never dipped into the life giving river.
    Lancer Hector
    Trojan Prince and greatest warrior among them, though he met his end at the hands of Achilles the Hero of Troy is far beyond mortal men in his prowess.
    Berserker Ajax the Great
    The Giant Greek and bulwark of the Achaeans the beast Ajax is a warrior of extreme power and brawn.
    Bruh these my thoughts
    Spoiler:
    I made a singularity because I'm not 100% sure how Lostbelts work. I kinda want Gilgamesh to play a quasi-hero portion in this but I wan't sure whether or not his presence would cheapen the threat of the singularity. I could add Caster Gilgamesh instead but it's just not the same in terms of aesthetic and how I would like it to play out. I did write a thing to like introduce Gilgamesh kinda and I put that in the spoiler below.
    Gilgamesh Intro I Wasn't Sure Of
    Spoiler:
    My city was on fire. I crawled in the middle of the street as the homes around me melted in the extreme temperature. My whole body was burned, charred, cracking. It took every ounce of my strength to pull myself closer and closer to the great temple dedicated to Marduk. He would save me, surely, he would save the children of his city. Closer and closer I came until, a ways from the steps that rose up the ziggurat and to the heavens, I witnessed the death of Marduk. The ziggurat of his honor, of his glory, was ablaze with purple fire. It cracked and melted and collapsed around itself. There was no hope for Babylon after all, there was nothing but ash and death for us now. My head hit the burning sands of the road. I had no life left in me, this was it.
    The sound of clinking metal pried my eyes open. I saw gold. A golden armored boot and red fabric. How? Who could still be alive in this hellish city? Who could be wearing armor of gold and wearing rich fabrics while the city melted around them. My head turned and traced the body upwards. He was a golden man, armor shining in the purple flames while red and black fabric rippled in the heated air. My eyes came to rest on the face of this great being who seemed immune to the death all around. Red eyes oozed an imperial aura of majesty and power. Golden hair as magnificent as his armor stood unblemished from the ash and fire. He looked upon me with contempt, then moved past me and into the flames of the city. I don’t know why, but I knew that he would not be harmed by this inferno. My head hit the sand once more. I was at peace, somehow, and as my eyes closed, never to open again, I felt no pain and no terror.
    Dread Coalition Against the Tyrant Emperor along with The Unbroken Shackles of Divine Caliber are my personal favorites due to probably personal bias.
    Name: Realm of Countless Bloody Nights: TATARI
    Subtitle: The Night of Wallachia
    Lost Depth: B
    Origin: 1470? AD
    Location: Wallachia
    King: Vlad III
    Crypter: ???
    Phantasy Tree: Needle
    History:
    The divergence point for this Lostbelt is the first time that the Dead Apostle Ancestor known as the Night of Wallachia appeared. In this timeline, Vlad III went to intercept the Night of Wallachia and after a long struggle with the thirteenth Dead Apostle Ancestor, he emerged having consumed his power and becoming the dominant personality of the curse known as TATARI.
    Vlad’s next move was to use his newfound powers in Christendom’s war against the Ottoman Empire. He massacred the Ottoman Empire’s army, impaling them on the numerous stakes that emerge from his body and extendable shadow. Eventually, the Ottoman Empire crumbled under the weight of Vlad’s overwhelming power and Christendom’s war against them was finally won.
    However, many Christians were appalled by the unfathomable brutality of Vlad’s bloody rampage. Even the Pope himself found his actions repulsive and issued a papal condemnation, expressing complete and utter disdain for Vlad’s violent crusade against the Ottoman Empire.
    This infuriated Vlad, who vowed to avenge himself and his downtrodden family name by slaughtering the Christians just as he slaughtered the Ottomans.
    Thus, a vicious cycle began as a result of TATARI no longer manifesting mere rumors and fear but repeatedly manifesting Vlad himself instead. Every time Vlad physically manifests, he begins to butcher the people in the surrounding area, impaling them and leaving their bodies impaled and drained of blood as a testament to his power and malevolence. Every new rampage is worse than the ones preceding it and makes Vlad even more infamous, sparking rumors of him being on the move and causing yet another outbreak of TATARI.
    In this Lostbelt, the people fear the darkness and night, knowing that Vlad is out seeking vengeance against both Christianity and mankind, and the Church has risen to become a major authority figure, being one of the few things that can counter Vlad and keep him at bay. Even the smallest shadow is able to fill one with an overwhelming sense of fear. Whenever Vlad appears and perpetrates a new massacre, the Church will mobilize and act to stymie the flow of rumors concerning Vlad. However, Vlad has learned to get around this by brainwashing people into becoming cultists serving him by spreading rumors so that he will be able to manifest again and again. Additionally, the Church has also taken to mobilizing secret police to spy on the people and using Vlad as an excuse to justify the persecution of those that they deem “heretics”.
    This has caused the progress of mankind to grind to a halt in this Lostbelt. Not only does the Church ruthlessly persecute those perceived to be heretics, but Vlad’s increasingly bloody rampages render mankind unable to explore and develop new things.
    Relevant Servants in the Lostbelt
    Ruler – Amakusa Shiro Tokisada: A Servant summoned by Chaldea in order to counter Vlad III due to his experience as an Executor in the time between the Third Holy Grail War and the Great Holy Grail War.
    Berserker – Vlad III: A Servant summoned by Chaldea. He ended up being summoned due to the Lostbelt being in Wallachia, his homeland. He is greatly infuriated by the actions of his counterpart in the Lostbelt and is fiercely driven to kill him in revenge for tarnishing his name.
    Archer – Abraham Van Helsing: A Servant summoned into the Lostbelt by the Counter Force in order to counter Vlad III due to his experience with a Dead Apostle that stole Vlad III’s name.
    Berserker – Elizabeth Bathory (Alter): The Servant Summoned by the Lostbelt’s Crypter. They originally intended to summon Carmilla but an error occurred and Elizabeth Alter was somehow summoned instead. She seems to be incredibly reluctant to follow her Master’s orders, most likely because she has grown tired of killing people.
    Avenger – Vlad III: The King of the Wallachian Lostbelt. He greatly distrusts this Lostbelt’s Crypter both due to him having been betrayed by the Church in the past and by the fact that he cannot seem to discern what their true intentions are.
    Love the idea of the Walachia Lostbelt, especially since Night of Walachia is my favorite dead Apostle. However I'm sad that Mehmed II wasn't involved as even a servant version being summoned through the counter force or even the original having survived and fighting against Vlad.
    Name: Divine Temple at the Boundary of Fantasy - El Dorado
    Subtitle: Pantheonic War for the New World
    Human Foundation Value: C+
    Location:
    South America
    Year: 1572 A.D
    Grail Holder: Emperor of El Dorado
    Factions: Pantheonic Empire, The Rebel Alliance, Chaldea Security Organization.
    Description of Events:
    A sub singularity in which a Holy Grail was bequeathed to the remnants of the Inca Empire lead by Túpac Amaru during what would be the conclusion of the Spanish Conquest of Latin America. Used as a vesself for ritualistic sacrifice, the people of Vilcabamba used the Grail in order to summon a protector god in order to defend them from the spanish, summoning the Divine Spirit of an ancient God whose great power allowed the Inca to successfully repel the Spanish forces and reclaim their territory but then lead to a new crisis as their newfound guardian demanded they make another great sacrifice.
    And so they did.
    Over and over again. Summoning deity after deity under the command of the Divine Spirit, who was now taking an active interest on expanding the territory of his reclaimed empire. Under his command, the Pantheonic Empire was formed by various gods of the Americas, quickly spreading its roots across the new world and unleashing ancient horrors upon all those who resisted their rule.
    Pushed back to the eastern shores of the portuguese colonies, the few survivors of the deity's onslaught are protected by Heroic Spirits who heard the call of their people and appeared to oppose the ambitious designs of the Pantheonic Empire, who is now planning to utilize the power of the Holy Grail in order establish the its imperial capital, the Golden Temple City of El Dorado, from where they wish to orchestrate their invasion of the North and establish full control over the New World.
    This all sounds very interesting, I had an idea for a Lostbelt of my own back during that one contest.
    I might dig it back up and see if it's worth developing for this thread.
    A collection of "prompts" from The Collected What If?, a series of essays on potential alternate history turning points that could be used for various purposes, I'm sure.
    Spoiler:
    • What if the plague hadn't stopped Sennacherib's conquest of Jerusalem (701 BC)
    • Persia wins at the Battle of Salamis (480 BC)
    • Alexander the Great dies prematurely at the Granicus (334 BC)
    • Arminius loses at Teutoberg/Roman Germania (AD 9)
    • Emperor Valens doesn't commit to Adrianople (AD 378)
    • Genghis Khan dies of the cold (AD 1242)
    • Antony and Cleopatra succeed at Actium (31 BC)
    • Socrates dies at Delium (424 BC)
    • William is repulsed at Hastings, does not conquer England (AD 1066)
    • The summer of 1529 isn't as unbearably humid, Suleyman's siege of Vienna succeeds
    I can post more detail if anyone has any interest. As far as I can see the essays aren't available for free anywhere.
