I want to write a fic about the Root attaining consciousness. Does anyone know any good entries about the Root? TMDict has squilch and every other source is either a dead end too or cumbersome to search.

I don't know that you'll like the answers, given what you say you want to write, but SHWEP will hold your hand and walk you through how people in the west thought about/talked about the root/the source/「 」 throughout time. I've personally found it an invaluable resource for this and other things.

Y'know I feel stupid saying this now considering the forum I'm in but the idea really isn't to turn the root into an anime girl
probably the furthest thing away from that

I've had that recommended to me by a friend, but, unless the Root that is spoken of in Nasuverse lore is just a massively theoretical hermeneutical construct based on actual real world philosophical conceptions of nothingness and arche, that seems to be interesting but a tiny bit aside from the point. I'll still check it out though, thanks.

Wait a second isnt this what Dullahan completely slanders in his single blog entry?

He consistently manages to make all conversations somewhat tangential to psychedelics when not completely about them, so I have my doubts about that
That said, he does teach me Ancient Greek so there's some truth to that

In my limited understanding of what the Root even is, which is why I made this post in the first place, it didn't seem to be as much only「 」as also ἀρχή. However, it seems now I can't really understand any of this in nearly as much depth as I'd enjoy without reading Kara no Kyoukai, which, considering my laughable japanese skills, is a pipe dream and a half, and even then whatever I thought the Root was before is kind of just wrong. Dunno how to feel about this.

(and from what it seems, a lot of Void Shiki's core tension is the placement of the most inhuman of consciences in the human condition, which is at best tangential to what I had in mind)
