An interesting development! True, Okita isn't really in the "let's trust people to play nice" camp, so a preemptive strike is very much up her alley. That said, despite what that last panel might be implying, she shouldn't normally be able to take on Ryouma and Oryou together in a straight fight. Next chapter should be interesting (or a blue balls as either someone breaks up the fight or the chapter viewpoint focuses somewhere else).

Hey question. Okita and Ryouma are from the same time, so since Ryouma was such a big deal shouldn't Okita recognize him? He was an enemy of the Shinsengumi right, so you'd think she'd have seen a portrait of him.
Ryouma doesn't seem to have earned that much fame in the GudaGuda verse, probably as a result of his propensity to "shadily" work behind the scenes. Hijikata doesn't recognise him either, in either Guda 3 or 4.

Even in general, photos were rare back then and people like Izo managed to commit assassinations in broad daylight and escape the scene with relative ease. Add in Ryoma's propensity for shady deals and undercover work and it makes sense that even if they know his name, virtually nobody's gonna recognise some goober in a white suit and his floaty wife just by looking at them.

This manga is very cool but it moves at a freaking snail's pace. I can't tell if it's the release schedule, the confusing chapter labelling, or just the raw storytelling pace. I've followed it weekly and reread it in a single run twice and still think it just moves glacially. Maybe I'm mindgaming myself because entire "chapters" are labeled x.1, x.2, etc and when combined they feel like a singular chapter's worth of content, but getting them bit by bit they feel incomplete.

It's a monthly manga, of course it moves at snail's pace.
Because you are too young. Or too stupid. Or both.

That's a statement I disagree with, plenty of monthly manga move at a decent pace. They tend to have longer chapters than weekly manga with 30-40 pages to compensate for their release schedule. Redline releases roughly biweekly with chapters between 11 and 20 pages it seems.

It has no fixed schedule, it gets released whenever the mangaka wants, and since the art is above and beyond it takes time to draw, i agree with the snail pace but it's just
¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Nothing we can do about it, or do you want the mangaka to overwork?

You're not mindgaming, those are a singular chapter split into parts on their release and combine into one again when the tankobon volume is out
I admit it can be pretty annoying sometimes but is standard practice for almost every manga (Foxtail and Prisma do it all the time for example)

No, I think the pace is part of the writing itself. I just scrolled through the releases on the official tm manga site and noted that there's roughly 2 weeks between releases (sometimes longer). I already know being a mangaka is hell, I'm mostly fixated on narrative pace. The weird release schedule just sort of exacerbates it. For instance I feel like in the last 4 chapters almost nothing has happened, especially compared to some of the first few chapters where a ton was being accomplished in the story setup.

It's probably due to the framework of the story already existing, so he has to use this particular downtime to set up a lot of the characterization because it kind of just keeps accelerating once we hit Berserker's rampage. Not a lot of time for careful reflection once everyone goes on the move.

If that's the case I'll probably try to reserve my judgement lol. I like it a lot but the last 8~ chapters felt like maximum nothing_happens.jpg, and despite the characterization going on it didn't quite feel defining or story driving, yet. Ofc someone can surely refute me with how in the original story this is all pivotal stuff but in which case please don't bother cuz I'd rather stay blind and ignorant to experience it as it goes.

Fate/Koha-Ace is basically just a cliffnotes version of this story with Tsuki/Fate characters standing in for the Masters. Most of what little time is spent for the 140-something pages is focused on the Servant interactions/fights because they were the main draw of it. We're about 26 pages worth of content into it currently, but the rest of the volume is fight after fight and conflict after conflict while skipping most of the actual fighting itself.

It's like One-Punch Man from ONE and from Murata.

Redline Ryouma is a coward for not letting Oryou lick his wounds.

Okita got totally manhandled. I tend to forget that she doesn't actually have very good stats.

    Thanks BananaShiki.

Bad timing for Weak Constitution to occur. Were it any other opponent she's done for. Fujimiya is completely vulnerable if Kanata left her alone there, so I hope she's nearby.

The fact that Oryou of all people calls Okita something different from human speaks volumes of Okita's detach mentality
Oryou's smug face and Okita's blank face were great, the artwork keeps deliverying as always

What she couldn't hear clearly was probably Kanata.

I love Kanata's terrified hey, obviously he has no idea what he's doing / going to do.

The fact that he was somehow able to step in between a Servant fight is a load of bullshit, though.

Also, that one Oryou panel had me scratching my head wondering where the fuck Nobu came from. It's uncanny.
