    Servant: Rider
    True Name: Yi Sun-sin
Aliases: Lee Soon-Shin, Yŏhae, Chungmugong (Duke of Loyalty and Warfare), ‘One Heart’, Seongwoong (‘sacred hero’).
    Source: Historical Fact.
    Gender: Male.
    Height: 185 cm.
    Weight: 89 kg.
    Alignment: Lawful Neutral.
    Likes: Taro.
    Dislikes: Spies.
Weapons: Geom (Sword), Gakgung (bow) and arrows, and chains.
Traits: Brynhildr’s Beloved, Hominidae Servants, Male, Riding, Servant, and Weak to Enuma Elish.
    Attribute: Man.

    Parameters:
    Strength: D
    Endurance: C
    Agility: B
    Mana: C
    Luck: D
    Noble Phantasm: A+

    Class Skills:

    Magic Resistance D :
Class skill of the Saber and Lancer Classes, though generally stronger in the Saber Class. Uncommon in the Archer and Rider classes, but not rare. Grants protection against magical effects. Differing from the Resistance effect that merely rejects Magical Energy, this ability cancels the spells altogether. At D Rank, this Skill cancels Single-Action spells. Magic Resistance of the same degree of an amulet that rejects magical energy.

    Riding B :
Class Skill of Rider and Saber class Servants, denoting the ability to ride mounts and vehicles. Rider-class Servants will typically possess a high rank. It is said that dragon type mounts are an exception, requiring a different ability other than Riding. At B Rank, most vehicles and animals can be handled with above average skill, even vehicles that did not exist in the time period one was alive in, for they are no exception. However, they cannot ride the likes of Phantasmal Species such as Monstrous Beasts.

Expected to ride and shoot from horseback with proficiency in the military examinations to become an officer, and doing so with a broken leg at one point, he has this Skill. Additionally, when utilized on ships, the rank increases by one.

    Personal Skills:

    Determination of Steel B :
A composite Skill, combining the effects of Valor and Calm and Collected, that allows one to completely ignore pain.

Demoted in loss of court favor and grace three times, being tortured and abused by his country each and every time to near death. Yet still he fought on to save the people of Korea, his determination to win and protect his home gave him the strength of mind, body, and character to maintain discipline and defy the odds even without the support of his government. A spirit that will not falter even when standing alone against impossibility itself with his own men about to fracture and scatter. He gives no attention to his wounds, disallowing them from inhibiting his ability to lead his men nor fight for his lord and his people.

Ruling the Sea Through Wrought and Thunder – Innovation A+ :
Innovation is a special Skill granted to heroes who brought about revolutions in their eras. Yi Sun-sin was the first to turn naval warfare into a battle between ships moreso than the men aboard them. The fleets of Japan’s preferred method of combat was to get in close and perform a boarding action, taking control of a ship in melee combat. Even in the west, the preferred method at this time was to get in close to board. Yi changed all that by staying at a distance and gunning down enemy ships with cannon fire. In addition, he is attributed with being the first to use iron plating on the exterior of a ship in history, preceding the advent of the Ironclad by roughly 300 years. He is a man who invested in and developed two major evolutions of naval warfare.

A type of conceptual revolution, Admiral Yi Sun-sin has an absolute advantage over those who make use of vehicles, or “mounts”, to close in with their enemies to attack directly. Also, he has resistance to ranged attacks. The fantasized swashbuckling adventures of glorious shipside hand-to-hand fighting loses its meaning against him. Does not affect a mount who is the means of attack.

    Strategy A- :
The ability to seize things in the broader perspective, such as diplomacy and logistics, in order to decide victory before the fighting’s even begun. Admiral Yi Sun-sin was a meticulous commander. He spent hours pouring over charts, and expressing concern at the state of his supplies, even going so far as to dedicate time and resources to establishing a production base to support his fleet when his government couldn’t do the job. He also invented the Crane Wing naval formation, and studied his enemy extensively, coming to understand the Japanese enough to know when to stop his attack to prevent them from wreaking a vengeful toll on the populace of Korea. From Okpo to Noryang, such deep attention to detail turned a hopeless situation into one of the most important upsets in history, time after time executing a plan that perfectly resulted in his absolute victory which led to a perfect win streak. However, he was never adept at politics or diplomacy, so the effects are uneven.

Voyager of the Storm A+++ :
The talent to sail vessels recognized as ships. Because the ability as a group leader is also necessary, this unique Skill also has the effects of both Charisma and Tactics.

Yi was a charismatic leader who was able to maintain his soldiers' morale despite constantly being low on supplies and food, and receiving continuous news of countless Korean losses in ground battles. In some records, it is stated that he went as far as to personally fulfill some of his soldiers' dying wishes. He demonstrated his loyalty to the people by treating them with respect and fighting amongst them even when endangered. During his final stand on the Myeongnyang Strait, it was his actions that inspired the woefully outnumbered fleet into action beside him. Such was his personal charm and strength of character that his King and members of his court feared his popularity to be a threat to their stations, and yet even so was able to convince that court which despised him to even allow him to make that final stand at Myeongnyang.

He won 23 out of 23 battles without losing a single ship, in 14 of which none of his enemy escaped, and all having taken very few casualties. All without the support of his own government in any meaningful capacity, and in several grossly outnumbered. Widely considered one of the greatest navy commanders in history on the same level as Horatio Nelson and Togo Heihachiro, and considered superior to both by the latter. Under his command, the Joseon navy decisively and consistently vanquished the navy of the Land of the Rising Sun, by no means a weak and feeble force. If he had not stopped Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s invasion of Korea, a vast Asian Empire under the rule of Japan may have come to be.

    Noble Phantasms:

    Jedog-ui Ma-eum: Ceaseless War Drum
    Type: Anti-Army (Self), Anti-Unit (Self)
    Rank: EX (C)
    Range: 10
    Maximum Targets: Everyone in Range

    The Admiral’s Heart

A Master's Noble Phantasm that belongs to Yi Sun-sin. It is a war drum used by the Korean navy for signaling, drilling, and morale. In Yi Sun-sin’s last battle at Noryang, he beat the drums himself to lead his fleet to chase down the Japanese. A beat that pushed the Korean fleet to be faster than ever, faster than the ships that were supposed to outspeed them, that possessed his men to be as a god of war. In that last fateful battle, he was shot by a stray bullet and felled. His eldest son and his nephew took up his roles, keeping his death secret from the combined Korean-Chinese fleet and leading the fleet as Yi would, inheriting all his Skill and ability if only for that one battle.

The Noble Phantasm does not require the invocation of its True Name to have effect. What it does require is a steady supply of magical energy, and someone to beat the drum at a steady pace. As long as both conditions are met, the individuals that are considered “allies” to the drummer receive a Rank-Up to their Strength, Endurance, and Agility parameters.

The spirit of that admiral is something that he spread to his warriors, giving them the strength and will to fight in the face of annihilation. If Yi Sun-sin is killed while under the effects of this Noble Phantasm, if there are any allies that he perceives as a worthy inheritor, all his Skills and Noble Phantasms will be passed to that inheritor until any of the two conditions come undone. Even if the inheritor should fall, if there is another, they shall be passed on. In the case that there are no worthy inheritors, if the Master has enough magical energy to support it, Yi Sun-sin’s own blood and allies will instead answer the call. Yi Wan and Yi Hoe, his nephew and eldest son, will without fail answer the call. But even Chen Lin will return from oblivion to take up his mantle if for nothing else than to pay back the glory of that great admiral. However, the drain to bring one forward is like summoning another Servant, and most Masters cannot support more than one of these chain-summonings.

Crane Wing Formation: Come and Undo Yourselves
    Type: Anti-Army, Anti-Formation
    Rank: C-
    Range: 50
    Maximum Targets: 500 people.

At the battle of Hansando, the Japanese Navy had established a strong position in a narrow strait with ample land support in the form of cannons and arquebusiers. Despite the advantages it would provide him to limit the Samurai fleet’s maneuverability, it was still not a favorable engagement. He took a risk, and used a small few ships which feigned retreat lured the Japanese fleet out into the open ocean so they would not receive land support. It was successful, but it was also their preferred proverbial field to fight in on the waves. He goal was to inflict as much damage to the Japanese fleet as possible, and so once they were so far out that survivors could not swim to land, his fleet came forward and expanded out to wrap around the left and right flanks, creating a deadly crossfire that reaped a toll of 47 ships sunk and 12 captured. Of the Japanese fleet of 73 ships, only 14 returned. The formation would see continuous decisive use by Admiral Yi until the Japanese finally got wise to it towards the end of the war.

Upon invocation of its True Name, the enemy is drawn into what they may have believed to be a favorable position, but this is a trap that has drawn them out of their very best position and placed him in his greatest possible position. Yi Sun-sin and any of his allies are thus placed into their most favorable positions within the formation with himself as the center. If there are not enough allies to fill the formation, on land cannons apparate in the air like a Crane’s Wings to fill the gaps around the enemy, while at sea full Panokseon ships will manifest instead. They then unleash a continuous devastating crossfire to utterly annihilate all within the span of the wings. It is a formation designed to be used on an aquatic battlefield, so its results are uneven on land.

Ultimately though, the core of this Noble Phantasm is the ability of Yi Sun-sin to lure his enemies out of their superior positions. So while it might inflict maximum effect by committing to the formation, it is not necessary for the “Crane’s Wings” to be formed. As a result, the classification of this Noble Phantasm is in some ways close in nature to a mental attack that draws the targets into the best possible position for Yi to reverse the odds with. Sacheon, Hansando, Doganpo, over and over again and brought to its greatest height at Myeongnyang, there is no question that he is legendary if only for such strategy.

Kal-ui Nolae: Oath of the Twin Blades
    Type: Anti-Unit
    Rank: C
    Range: 1
    Maximum Targets: 1 person.

    Song of the Sword.

The legendary dual swords of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, the “Twin Dragon Swords", are two 6 feet-long single-edged blades that Yi commissioned in 1594. Inscribed on the first blade are the words “With this 6-foot sword, I swear to Heaven, as the seas and mountains tremble.”, and on the second it is inscribed: “I whip—I sweep. The rivers and hills are dyed red with the blood of my enemies”. The only record of the Twin Dragon Swords’ existence are a photograph and the records of the Joseon Museum of Art, which was recorded by the Joseon Book Publications in 1910 and photographed from the relics of the Imperial Palace Museum. If they ever did exist, they have been lost.

Nevertheless, the Duke of Loyalty and Warfare did own another pair of twin swords. This pair, designated National Treasure No. 326, are preserved in the Hyeonchungsa Temple in Asan, South Chungcheong Province. On the blade of the first is engraved "The mountains and the waters tremble as I swear to the heavens with a three-chi (90 cm) sword”, and on the second is “with one swing of the sword, blood dyes the rivers and mountains.” The similarity of the inscriptions to the Twin Dragon Swords is no coincidence, for these came first. These three-foot-long swords are also single-edged.

The identity of this Noble Phantasm is, in a way, both of these pairs of swords. In the Rider class, the national treasures which he was confirmed to have wielded are manifested. In the Saber Class, it shows its greatest strength. Upon invocation of the True Name, their blades are enveloped in a sleeve of mana which will extend their length out to be 6 feet. They are then swung in an anti-unit attack: a vicious sweeping of the twin blades, a strike designed to “bleed the enemy as much as possible”. Not a strike necessarily meant to kill, but to decisively reduce combat-effectiveness. That said, it is not an attack that will avoid a deathblow if the opportunity is presented.

    Geobukseon: Ironclad Sea Dragon
    Type: Anti-Army, Anti-Fleet
    Rank: A+
    Range: 20~40
Maximum Targets: Omnidirectional deployment of five ships.

    Turtle Ship.

Yi Sun-sin’s “secret weapon” during the war. The admiral created what we now call the Turtle Ship based on old designs that were first suggested during the reign of King Taejong, inspired from a fitful dream of a dreadful dragon ripping through the sea. The turtle ships designed by Yi held ten cannons on each broadside of the ship, two on both sides of the stern, and three at the bow. Its figurehead was in the shape of a dragon’s head, holding an additional cannon, and emitted a smokescreen. The dragon head “breathing” cannonfire, flaming arrows, and sulfurous fumes was used as psychological warfare when combined with its fierce appearance against the more superstitious Japanese.

The complement of chongtong, a Korean kind of cannon, came in multiple ranging types. The Cheonja (Heaven) was the largest with a range of 400~500 meters, Jija (Earth) was second-largest with a range of 500~600 meters, Hyeonja (Black) was the third largest with a range of 600~1250 meters, and the Hwangja (Yellow) was the smallest with a range of 450~1590 meters. Meanwhile the Seungja (Victory) was a highly portable hand-cannon with a range of 300~740 meters. Each of these fired cannonballs of stone, iron, iron shot, timed shells, and most commonly large darts with iron tips and fletching (which were effective at attacking fortresses, and thus extremely powerful against the weaker hulls of Japanese ships). Below the figurehead is a gargoyle’s head, which served to break the water to increase the speed of the vessel as well as serve as a ram. The ramming strategy of the vessel was to break open a hole in an enemy vessel’s hull, and then fire a shot from the dragon’s head figurehead into the hole to deal a deathblow not just to the enemy ship, but their morale as well.

Its entirety is dotted with ports from which arrows, guns, and mortars could be fired. The iron roofing was covered with planks and spikes, which were then hidden by unassuming straw mats in battle, to prevent the ship from being boarded by the enemy. The larger Japanese ships' sides were higher than the turtle ships' and thus, the spikes prevented boarders from jumping down onto the roof without risking impalement.

There were two masts that held two large sails that could be collapsed in combat, and the turtle ship was also steered and powered by twenty oars, each of which were pulled by two men during fair conditions and five in foul seas or combat. Historians debate whether the ships had two decks or three, but they at least had two decks to separate rowing power and the combat compartment. The rib of its hull was also made with iron, and was constructed with 12cm diameter Red Pine timbers, which were much more dense than average timbers of the time. Their primary role was to cut deep into the enemy lines, cause havoc with their cannons, and destroy the enemy flagship. The aggressive method of the turtle ship’s attack resulted in the Japanese calling the turtle ships "blind ships". Making liberal use of ramming, it was much more sturdy than normal already-sturdy ships in the Korean navy, and swift and agile.

When calling this Noble Phantasm’s true name, a clear 40 x 15 meter area is required within which a Turtle Ship will be able to safely and rapidly construct itself with his magical energy, enveloping those in the space he chooses. Those not selected are expelled from the space. A partial construction is possible, but generally avoided unless necessary. Its offensive capabilities are many:

The dragon head figurehead can spew “Fake Dragonfire” from its maw and make a smokescreen with sulfurous fumes.
An ogre head ram is located below the figurehead, at the waterline of the vessel.
Two ‘Heaven’ cannons on the bow. On the stern are also three ‘Heaven’ Cannons. Along each broadside are ten cannons, two of which are ‘Heaven’ cannons, three are ‘Earth’ cannons, three ‘Black’ cannons, the other two are ‘Yellow’ cannons.
There are 12 ports on the port and starboard sides of the turtle’s back to allow the firing of mortars.
A combined total of 50 ports located along the broadsides, the bow, and stern to allow the firing of fire arrows and guns.

In addition to the awesome offensive capabilities as listed above, the Geobukseon is attributed as the very first recorded instance of the use of ironclad ships in history, and have incredible defense capabilities. Not only is incoming damage greatly reduced, but because of its enclosed deck the enemy will have to break open the ship in order to attack whoever might be protected within it. Even then, those who seek to board risk being damaged by the spikes that cover its top deck. The ship can be considered a fake fortress due to its defenses even if it is not their apparent function. While it classifies as Anti-Army and Anti-Fleet, this Noble Phantasm also has Anti-Formation properties (due to its usage to disrupt enemy fleet formations). Though it is numerically inferior, when fully manifested this Noble Phantasm can stand up to the fleet of a certain King of Storms.

As a ship the Geobukseon is made to be used in water, but it can fly over land by expending additional magical energy. Because the Turtle Ship was a class of ship rather than one particular ship, he can “build” and use more than one at a time. However, he never once had more than five Turtle Ships in any of his fleets at one time. So even disregarding the immense toll of magical energy on the Master, no more than five of them can be manifested at a time. Regardless of the number of ships manifested at one time, they each move and attack according to his mental commands

Oeloun Subisu: Castle Standing in the Roaring Sea
    Type: Anti-Army, Anti-Fleet, Fortress
    Rank: A++
    Range: 30
    Maximum Targets: ???

    Lonely Defender

Following the nightmarish disaster of the Battle of Chilcheonllyang, the last 13 ships of the Korean Navy had their spirits absolutely crushed by loss of the mighty and seemingly unbreakable fleet that Admiral Yi Sun-sin had been constructing throughout the war. Not a single turtle ship remained, leaving the Supreme Commander of the Navies of the Three Provinces without any of his “secret weapons” with which to cause confusion and discord within the Japanese fleet formations. Even so he took these last 13 ships, reinforcing them as much as possible to make them nearly as sturdy as the turtle ships, and attempted to impassion them into action by proclaiming on the day before the battle “Those who seek death shall live, those who seek life shall die.” and “If one person guards the road, it can scare a thousand people.” He attempted to appeal to their honor and loyal spirits, and also threatened that he would not tolerate cowardice. His efforts would seemingly be for naught as he on his flagship sailed alone to face the Japanese vanguard commanded by Kurushima Michifusa – whose brother he had killed in one of his earlier battles.

For 40 minutes, that lone ship faced that insurmountable force of 133 Warships.

In Yi’s words, “All other officers were seeking to run, as they knew this battle was against a massive force." However, Kim Eok-chu – commanding officer of the Jeolla Right province – was approximately 390 meters away, and observed Yi’s flagship was "... standing like a castle in the middle of the sea." He would be the first to advance his ship to join the hope of Korea in the desperate fight. Then, trickling in as courage and valor eventually filled their hearts, every last one of the broken souls aboard the 13 warships put themselves back together and achieved the impossible decisive victory that they did. They did once more what he always commanded of them to do, “stand like mountain castles”.

Yi Sun-sin’s longtime ally and close friend, Ryu Seong-ryong, said that “Yi Sun-sin was a man who held the falling sky with one hand.”

That will to fight in the face of utter destruction, the determination and diligence to take absolute advantage of every aspect of battle as possible, that man who can justifiably be called the savior of the Joseon Dynasty: Korea itself, the Ming Dynasty: the Empire of China, and perhaps even further westward within the ambitious gaze of Shogun Toyotomi Hideyoshi. All of these have crystallized into this Noble Phantasm. It takes the appearance of his flagship from the Battle of Myeongnyang, a panokseon. This is a projection of his indomitable spirit, an ultimate defense that halts the devices of conquerors, of entire nations. It is the last stand of a man without luck, mustering every last ounce of his own power to defend all that he holds dear, from the jaws of defeat snatching the greatest of victories. It has formidable offensive capabilities superior to the Geobukseon, and contrary to appearances its defensive abilities are greater than even all five of the turtle ships he can summon combined; for in that final stand when the tide literally turned, it was the ship at the forefront of the crushing advance, smashing into Japanese ships for it had no ammunition; inheritor of their strength and becoming in spirit the last turtle ship, the last hope of a people.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Note:

Thanks for the warm reception everyone! I know that this sheet will turn a lot of heads and even raise a large number of eyebrows, and that some things here may only really be possible due to fame boost scenarios, but I hope you all enjoy it.

I think Strategy and Voyager can be merged into a new personal skill. Was he known for actually stormy seas? If not then, according to Nemo's sheet iirc, that may lower the rank. Something like Voyager of the Warring Seas or something to denote him as a Naval Commander instead of a pirate.

and five NP! That is a Koga amount of Np. some are pretty vague. they could have parts of other skills with their anecdotes being explained as a positive modifier.
they are also pretty long but you have no need for lore in return. decent sheet.

Yeah, at the risk of being unkind, this sheet is bloated. The swords could probably be saved for when he's a Saber (could put them in a spoiler and label them as such, if you want to keep them in). The ultimate fortress NP could be a secondary function of the turtle ship NP (think True Name release or something), and I'm not entirely sold on the Crane Wing Formation NP being necessary.
I will say, the fluff on all his skills and NPs are good, and I'm always a sucker for defiant to the end types. Just needs a bit of tidying, I think.

In fairness Rider is the Class known for lotsa NPs. Astolfo had four and Achilles five after all. It also sounds like the swords' true name release is only usable under Saber and otherwise they're only ordinary armaments.

and achilles is the rare exception with his 5 NP as one of the most famous legends on the planet. Rider the NP class and all but one has to weigh if this stuff is truly an NP or just a skill. Or if some can be merged into one general NP that connects them together.
