    Summer 2020 Anime. It's A Thing, I Guess.

    So the summer season has started and I couldn't find a thread so here's the list.

    Looks like a bunch of sequels and a few weird others here and there.

    Going to watch Fire Force, Romcom Snafu, Re:Zero and No Guns Life. Try out most of the others since there's not a whole lot.


    Which brings me to the reason I wanted a Summer thread. Misfit Of Demon Academy is so fucking bad. It's like someone read Iruma-Kun and decided that what it was missing was non-stop curb stomps and to get there they decided character and personality were acceptable casualties. Add to that the climax of the episode where the idiots who can't see an OP Mary Sue from a mile are constantly asking their zombiefied brother why they're trying to kill them, when they murdered them out of nowhere minutes ago. I think this is the least subtle God Mode Highschool battle show I've ever seen. I wonder how long it'll take for the rape scene that inevitably always happens in these shows to occur? My guess is 2.5 episodes.


    Also watched God of Highschool. Any show that makes me smile and say "what a bunch of fucking idiots" is alright in my books. Some choppyness in the fights, and everyone's nose shines like they're drunk but overall pretty fun.

    My laziness caught up to me and I never got around to my Re:Zero and Oregairu rewatches before their new seasons. Speaking of which:

    Re:Zero: I feel like this was a strong start, even if I've never particularly cared for Rem. Subaru running through the camp and that last scene were both very well done in terms of conveying how he felt.

    Fire Force is so fucking stupid. I love it. For much of the same reason's I like the God of Highschool.

    Re:zero's Miniboss Squad showed up, and nothing else of any consequence.

    Deca-Dence is like they took the Mortal Engines movie and turned the anime up to 11. Giant mobile fortress city that needs to cannibalize it's foes to survive? Strict caste system, with MC at the lowest? Was expecting a giant fuck off laser, but Rocket Fist is fine if super impractical. My only gripe is that the gruff old man has the same VA as the gruff old man from Arte last season and a really similar character design. I keep expecting him to tell Natsume to start sanding down portrait backings or properly mix the plaster for murals.

    Muhyo and Roji Season 2 Episode 1: So the main case in the first episode of the new episode is with two girls playing a game called Kokkuri, a Japanese version of a Ouija Board, and they didn't end the session correctly. Since Nana was nearby, the spirit went after the two girls. Only for Goryo to show up. He brags about how he has 99 offices across Japan, but he's not Muhyo's equal. He uses his assistant to keep the ghost in one place while he performs the Magic Law, putting the assistant in danger. And then gives the one girl a outrageous bill for his services, he's just as bad as I remember. It was a good first episode.
