Akudama drive is literally danganronpa action B-movie edition. Lol kodaka. I did not expect it to look this good, though.

Watched episode 17 of Fire Force S2 this morning. Interesting how Kurono actually managed to be the one who got through to Nataku by telling him he didn't have to force himself to be strong all the time (because he wants him to stay weak so he can bully him). As screwed up as Kurono is he actually managed to be a legit more supportive parental figure than anyone Nataku had in his life until then.
Also surprisingly it seems Haijima isn't actually that evil. I mean. they're still a ruthless corporation that has no qualms doing unethical human experiments, but they don't have any interest in the Evangelist's destroying the world scheme, and the president was even overjoyed by Vulcan's promise that he could create an engine like Amaterasu without sacrificing anyone. Looks like they'll end up dubious allies in the future rather than enemies.
Lastly, as cute as Charon's flashback this ep was, did anyone wonder how he managed to read a book while being blindfolded? I guess maybe either his blindfold or his eyes are magical and he can see through them anyway, but it raises some questions. Something's up with this dude...

Honestly, the way they are doing it and saying upfront that both people who know the story and people who don't can watch it still means they have cards to play.
It gives people who don't know glimpses into the possible whys, while for the rest of us makes us wonder who else is entering the stage here.
So I'll see it though wholesale before I hit the nail that its poppycock or not.
Ais's declaration that if "monsters make others cry, I will kill them" is pretty fucking hollow. Why? Simple. If that same philosophy can't apply to human enemies, as well, then it has no meaning. Indeed, beyond bandits or even enemy soldiers in a war, killing these: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Aggressive_Adventurer https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Taunting_Adventurer brings me much more pleasure and satisfaction than killing something declared a "monster".
So it turns out that I messed the last three weeks of Love Live, to the point that I forgot it was even airing. Pretty bold of them to make a new Nico but turn down her adorkability so that she just comes off as an ass. I can't believe that the MC isn't even one of the Idols this time, despite being the biggest fan. The subs are also kind of trash for this season, since for the first two episodes they Tl'd the songs too, but come episode 3 they just gave up and left it. I hope no one has a huge character revelation in the middle of a song or everyone will miss it. But how often does that happen in idol shows?

It's funny because the reason OPs, EDs and other songs aren't translated in simulcasts is because translating those needs additional license and payment, but being part of Sony, Funi isn't lacking any money as seen with how many shows they've gotten this season, so this is all on Funi going for cheap and not wanting to pay more than necessary. I agree completely that not translating songs in idol shows is nonsensical

Like I said, not having them done is bad, but even worse is to have them in the beginning and then arbitrarily stop. It's like they wanted you to know what you were missing.

Fire Force Season 2 Episode 11: The people in charge of the Fire Force want to keep the information from the expedition secret for 3 years. Arthur was actually right about those numbers being Pi too. I didn't expect Joker to make Benimaru come with him to the temple either. What really made him collapse? It can't have been that big guy with the bowl hair. It was a interesting episode.

Decided to watch Kamisama ni Natta Hi. I get that most people don't have an eyepatch fetish, but would heterochromia really have been too difficult?

Noooooo.....
Spoiler:
Wandering on internet
Watched episode 18 of Fire Force S2. The first half was probably the slowest-paced and most sentimental this show's been in a while, which is a welcome breather after the breakneck pace of the last few arcs. Just Shinra and Iris bonding and getting to know each other, under the backdrop of discussing religion and faith in a world where those can so often be corrupted to serve evil ends. Shinra is such a wholesome guy, and his clumsy attempts to reassure Iris her prayers to Sol aren't in vain was really sweet.
...The second half of this episode, by contrast, was dedicated to an utterly ridiculous gag involving Assault (a baddie from last season's Nether arc) trying to overcome his weakness to Tamaki's Lucky Lecher Lure after losing to her last time. I have to say, I think this was one of the funniest scenes involving Tamaki's... quirk, just because it totally embraces the absurdity and runs with it as far as possible. Seeing the dead-serious Assault watch porno DVDs until his eyes bleed in an attempt to make himself immune to her "charms", and steadily become more and more of a badass while still being stomped by Tamaki every time, was ludicrous in the best possible way.
And the show even sneaks in a kind of heartwarming moral in that being around someone you actually like is always going to be way more satisfying than any amount of videos or fake relationships. Makes me wonder if Assault is going to actually defect to the good-guys at some point due to his crush on Tamaki...
Also, did anyone get the Soul Eater reference Ohkubo pulled with the guy named 'Scythe' in the cabaret club wailing about his daughter? Spirit from that series was a scythe Weapon (in other words, a dude who can transform into a scythe) and had a bad relationship with his daughter Maka (the main heroine), who thought of him as just a womanizing deadbeat even though he really cared for her. Just curious how many people got that.
