So I don't understand the plot behind this arc of DanMachi. They keep talking about how they can't have monsters around their Familia, but isn't there a bunch of them like Genesh that collect a ton of monsters? Like that ape thing from the start of the series was theirs right?

Ganesha Familia tames monsters and keeps them carefully controlled like the wild murderbeasts they are for public events like the Monsterphilia where they're slaughtered for glory. I haven't read the Sword Oratoria novels in case there's more detail there, but I assume they don't just keep a bunch of monsters around the city at all times, instead only doing so for specific events. Meanwhile Hestia Familia smuggled an untamed monster out of the Dungeon that's totally harmless really we swear with literally zero restrictions on it. Those selfish psychos, endangering the lives of the citizens for their own foolish whim. What, is Bell some kind of monster-thirsting degenerate? Are they trying to line up a hit on a rival? Most of all, society can't accept the existence of talking monsters not possessed of an insatiable drive to murderize sapients, because that society is built on murdering monsters en masse. Look at how Bell nearly died to some jobber monsters because he went on easy them after having his worldview rattled like a quarter in a washer.

Yea, there's intelligent creatures beside human that can talk, so why a wild unfounded intelligent race still being considered as monster??

It's not about being human, but being sapient and not possessed by an irrational impulse to murder every living thing you see. Monster intelligence tops out at knowing how to grab a tree branch/stalagmite and crack it over someone's head - outside of these strange new exceptions.

I get the whole "our mortal enemies are actually people" thing not being something they want to spread, but why can't the Familia just lie their asses off and say that they want to give taming a chance, here's this one monster they keep locked away in their gated compound, outnumbered 5 to 1, lets see how this works out? Just tell her not to speak when anyone else is around and they'd be set. Even if they want to keep her a secret because of the guys hunting her, couldn't they just keep it vague and say "we're monster ranchers now, we'll show you something if it works"?

Rereading Volume 7, Lili brings up how they don't have any registered monster tamers (so they have no Guild cred), that Wiene's cute so people will assume Bell's one hell of a freak, and that since they're a recent mid-tier Familia that's already been in a bunch of incidents and has a bunch of debt that stronger Familias will fuck with them just for the sake of it. Basically too many risks to bother since a talking monster is a ticking time bomb.

Honestly I think the talking thing would be easier to deal with than the fact she's a super rare monster because you can try and hide that, even if the last episode proved she'd mess up eventually, but you'd probably need to declare her species on any registration you have for her. Even talking you could attempt to pass it off as a parrot-like thing, just mimicking what she hears.

Oh right, Vouivres are also sought after because the red gem in their head is super valuable, but the only way you can get it is to rip it out of their head while they're still alive, causing them to go berserk and get way stronger. So it's even weirder to not off one.

In a funnier note, the teacher showing up means the Ciel parody got a remade design and got to show up in something new for her story with said design before legit Ciel could have her own remake debut. Damn it, Mushroom Eggplant

It's also about other races being born normally, while monsters - regardless of intelligence - are just spit out of a wall in the dungeon basically fully aged/developed. To those above, it'd come across as unnatural, and with no assurance that there isn't some innate programming in them to slaughter humans.

So... episode 2 of not-Kino suggested that the show was going to be a happier, more personal version of the "travel to many countries" thing.

It's a bit weird to be watching Strike Witches and see Jojo faces right in the middle of the action. There's probably not going to be many in the season, given that it's Strike Witches, but it's still something I'm going to look for now. Maybe they'll throw some on the main cast once and a while as practice for when they adapt Stone Ocean.
