if thats a coherent place to get english VN's as opposed to the half hearted sporadic recommendation forums and so on I usually see, I probably just lost my weekend.

Yeah, the only problem with erogedownload is that there are only a few torrents, if any; most are direct downloads in separate parts. There used to be a good IRC place that had amazing download speeds, but it seems to have been shut down as of a few months ago.
Hongfire is another option, especially if you're looking for non-English translated VNs or OSTs and whatnot, but it can sometimes be a little slow to navigate and for some downloads (I think) you have to be registered. It uses torrents, though, which speeds things up.

Actually I do use hongfire, but primarily to find something I am already looking for, if that makes sense.

I use erogedownload to download non-eroge sometimes, what you gonna do?
I like how quickly it updates. I can steal games at most a week after they get official translations!

I've heard that it's very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very long. As in, "one of the longest visual novels ever created" long. Also it's got a lot of sex and giant breasts and is pretty good, but from it's length I don't think it would be worthy of playing through. That's just personal opinion, though.

On one hand without the voices it can get a little dull, on the other the voices tend to run on even after you click away from their written sentences, only stopping when another voice starts.
Al has played some of the game.
Ain't that long. I coulda beat the game in less then 4 or 5 days (only playing a limited number of hours during those days too) if I didn't get obsessed with how I won some battles and spending 30 minutes thinking about who I should pick for midturn scenes.

Add the patch if you want, but I played without, and it wasn't that much of a loss, imo. And yeah, it's not all that long.

Emm... Koihime isnt that long. Are you sure you arent talking about Shin Koihime? Cause that has 3 15h campaigns. Koihime is relatively short though. Definitely not "one of the longest ever created".
Majikoi and Muv-Luv Alternative are both much longer.
Hell, Koihime does not even have any routes (just differing ending scenes based on your decisions).
Yes, meant Shin Koihime. Though it's important to keep in mind that VN length really varies between people. For example, it took me exactly 81 hours to get through all of F/SN.
As for Shin Koihime, though...

I have played Shin Koihime... F/SN and Alternative/Majikoi are even more long then Shin Koihime. Its just 3 main routes and... that's it (Each is about 10-15 h? Definitely less then one of the FSN routes). There really aren't 50 routes there.
