Since just about everyone here has played at least one or two visual novels, I think it's a good idea to make a thread for the medium itself. Sure, there are pitifully few people who read VNs, but it's nice anyway.

Seconded so damn much. LB isn't the best VN I've played, but thanks to our man Masato, it definitely is the funniest VN I've played. Holy shit, has it had me rolling.
But now, a question. There's a VN out there that's got my attention, namely, ef: A Fairy Tale of the Two. I know it's not fully translated yet, but for anyone who may know, do you think I'd like it? What about its anime counterpart? Is that better than the VN, or worse? All of my research can't seem to agree which version is better, but most importantly, would I like ef to begin with?

It's what got me into Visual Novels, curiously enough. So yeah, it ranks pretty high on my nostalgia-o-meter.

So, I want to complain about something even if the complaint is old as hell. I need to get it out
I have enjoyed reading Kikokugai (The remake) and Saya no Uta. So, looking for more Urobuchi VNs to read (Translated to english of course), I eventually decided to get Phantom of Inferno as it was released on english. I had to drop it because of how obnoxious the format is. Why couldn't they release it as a regular VN that allowed you to save?
Having to use a media player to read the VN is obnoxious because I can't save. And I don't have enough time to just marathon it like a movie. There's also the multiple choices (It seems the game uses a password system, but that's obnoxious, restricting and nonsensical)
I wanted to read it, but I had to drop it because the format was the worst possible way to experience a VN

Has Aiyoku no Eustia's full version been released yet? UTW's Raze wrote a review on it, but I can't remember whether he talked about the entire thing. I think he did... Anyway, definitely worth reading- only read an hour of the trial, and I'm already in love with it.

According to the Yandere TL website, it is still under translation. I haven't heard of this before, so it's definitely got my attention.
As for big things: Katawa. Shoujo. Full stop. It's going to be out in full this year, believed to be in November.
On the subject of OELVN projects, I can't pimp Cradle Song enough. Seriously, it's not out yet, but the trial is, and it looks great and fantabulous.
On the subject of translated Japanese visual novels, I am still slogging through ef - a fairy tale of the two. My god it's long, but it has very nice art by the lovely Makoto Shinkai. THere are CGs like every couple lines, it's insane, and awesome. Great characters, too. Kyousuke is a boss.
