Fair point. Also, those aren't just tweaks, even if they aren't immediately noticeable. Also, I can't believe I forgot to say this, but we got a whole damn new type in Gen VI, and it changed a lot.

Not untrue, but competitive is the real meat of the game anyway.
As for the Wild Area, the mode definitely had potential, otherwise why would we get Legends, which expands on the concept and makes it a whole game?
If all you want is competitive just use Pokemon Showdown
I’ve never payed the slightest bit attention to competitive stuff in the games. I’ve never even used setup moves or held items while playing through the games lol.

Nah, Quick Claw's too situational. I'd say Expert Belt is more useful in an average playthrough.

The stealth part was kind of apparent in the reveal trailer, IMO.
I assume that stuff will be in lieu of HMs similar to how Sun and Moon did it. Rock Climb, Fly, and Surf seem the most obvious for an open world game.

Unlikely, since the main portal to the Distortion World is Turnback Cave, and the Spear Pillar portal was a one-off. I have a feeling the Azure Flute might finally officially get distributed, either in-game, or as an event.
Furthermore, the beginning of the trailer seemingly had a remix of Arceus' theme from DPP, specifically the percussive ostinato.
The Distortion World swirling over Coronet's peak is iconic imagery from Platinum, it's in several pieces of artwork.
Yes, but that portal only existed for a short while because Giratina got pissed at Cyrus for attempting to use Dialga and Palkia to create a new universe. Otherwise, it doesn't exist.

Not really for most of the ones that I can think of. Mostly just don't fall asleep at the wheel.
