So they don't design things? Hm...
Is there any philosophy or tenet you're particularly interested in exploring with this character?

I was thinking of them being a more enigmatic individual who has a very "empty" personality.
Some kind of weird nobodyness to them if that makes sense. Maybe they just happen to use a Rubik's cube to do some kind of thing and the fishing rod is an offensive code?

Emptiness in Western philosophy is a little vague broadly, but Greek atomism as a basis might work for that purpose - someone who is internally a "void" as contrasted with "". Unfortunately, the vacuum itself is generally regarded either with ambivalence or as incoherent for a lot of history, so there's not a lot to work with in explaining a personality like that with Magecraft... The other option that comes to mind is a function as a vessel for some greater ego, but that doesn't tell us much about what the Magecraft would actually derive from.atomsubstance

Fishing is pretty old, but doesn't really have much global mysticism attached to it from what I can tell. You might be able to link it to Mystery associated with hunting.

Maybe an idea of their magecraft is that they can create emptiness. For example, adding empty rooms to buildings and using them to move between empty rooms in other buildings. Or they can use the Rubik's cube as an extension of this magecraft and solving the cube gives some kind of effect.
Imaginary Numbers, you mean?

Yeah. Imaginary Numbers can fit. Although I don't know much about them.

Like what do oyu mean? What do you mean by this?

Yeah, they almost definitely have imaginary number space https://typemoon.fandom.com/wiki/Element#Hollow

To put it simply, they're the unconfirmed void, populated by the unobservable and unfalsifiable things that don't actually exist. A certain degree of forcible confirmation is important in order to enter or travel through it because of that. There's also the fact that imaginary things evaporate on contact with reality, and the fact that Imaginary Number Space generally doesn't play ball with the arrow of time, so it's mostly used as a kind of hammerspace or storage box most of the time.

I think that they definitely have Imaginary Numbers as their elemental affinity/ primary magecraft. It seems really amazing. Now, to think of what the Rubik's Cube and Fishing Rod do. Hmmm
It is pretty cool, but it's also fairly impractical on its own. You'd benefit from having a Thaumaturgical Foundation to provide you with formulae so that you can make something out of it. The Mystic Codes could definitely also help with making it more useful.

Crack idea after playing Imaginary Scramble:
Fisherman/marine biologist Foreigner who unknowingly casted a line to the Imaginary Sea... and actually caught something, somehow.
Maybe the rod let's them "catch" things that live in Imaginary Number Space and the Cube acts as an anchor by injecting logic into the Imaginary Number zone. Does that make any sense?
Worth noting that saint Peter is a fisherman patron saint. Maybe it could be a Sacrament associated with saint Peter.
The Cube is a really powerful Concept of osme form masquerading as a Cube. Which they built maybe

Is Xu Zhimo too young or infamous? He looks cool and had a nice poem (Main reason for choice)
Xu Zhimo is pretty ok wot.
is the poem Taking Leave of Cambridge Again?
Also, does Yamaraja=Taizan Fukun fit the theme? In a sense, they both are hell judges, and Yamaraja of Hinduism influenced the Yanluo of Taoism, which then gave Taizan Fukun his current role of hell judge.
The vessel can be our good friend Huang Feihu from the Water Margin event. He was given the position of Taizan Fukun after our nearly-Grand Caster Taikou Bou defeated Daji.

Hm... I think you're onto something interesting. You should definetly try it, also yeah it's My Second Farewell to Cambridge.
I like how it's compulsory curriculum here at where I'm at, so the last four lines of the poem's constantly etched in the back of my head.
I shall leave silently as I came silently, I swing my sleeves as to not bring back even the clouds, or something like that.
Maybe you can give him an intense fear of flying.

Ok. This is my idea. Their power is "Unreality Injection" The Rubik's Cube acts as order to stabilize the Imaginary Number field around them and can get damaged during the injection process. The fishing rod lets them "catch" things in the Imaginary Number Space. Things they can do:
Throw people into empty rooms that didn't previously exist.
Use the rooms to travel the world quickly.
Summon "John Does", abstract people who are their mage assistants.
Does that seem cool?
