Besides that though, gotta say this dialogue reads really well. Nasu’s prose feel far better kept here than in Mahoyo, it feels very strong.
I double checked and if you go and recheck out the intro in the Flowchart it’ll have all Voice only dialogue translated and stuff since rather than a video it’s actually playable, but I wish they did a better job subbing it. It’s kind of annoying I’ll have to inform anybody who plays the game that “Oh you should probably go through the Prologue again in the flow chart to make sure you get all the dialogue.”
Just a few. Top is the localization. Bottom Tsukihimates. Imgur: The magic of the Internet
Yeah, I think I prefer the FanTL. There's a bit more dramatic flair to the FanTL while the localization seems to be more simplistic. I have no idea which is more faithful but maybe im just biased

Hmm, I think Tsukimates tries to convey the nuance of the original Japanese a lot more closely. Plus the ruby text helps a lot.
The priest was waiting for the arrival of the princess, who was only an enemy of all of them.
For the priest, the golden princess was the one and only main heroine.
Everyone else was unworthy of his respect, no matter how strong they were.
Tsukihime 2 Prelude III
After the prologue iirc. Tap square and the option should be there.
I think the localization is okay. It wasn't awful, nor was it particularly noteworthy.
Some of Nasu's prose is lost, but compare to Mahoyo the result is much smoother.
The vibe I get from the localization is that Tsukihimates does a better job on the more complex dialogue but the Official does a better job at the more traditional lines. It’s not in here but there’s one example where Mario calls Arcueid a “Failed Human” in Tsukihimates and the localization instead goes for “Fuckup” which is taking a bit of liberty but gets most of the nuance without sounding weird.
Tsukihimates was clearly very careful at making sure to retain Nasu’s prose, and while the localization also clearly cares about that, it’s a bit more willing to take liberties.
Edit: Thank you by the way Nanaya, it’s really appreciated to have some side by sides handy.
So what's the deal with Goto again? As in, the theories? I know he's there to set up Far Side stuff but I remember glossing over theories about him. Just... not what said theories were.
He only shows up in 4 scenes (technically 5 but the dialogue is identical just in a slightly different location) and 3 of those are optional. What we know about him is he’s somebody from the Branch families, he doesn’t like Shiki whatsoever, and he calls Hisui and Kohaku respectfully for some reason despite the idea of them being friends being something he actively laughs at.
The most common idea is that he’s created for Hisui Route due to a comment from the Arcueid Memo by Nasu, he mentions an idea about a Branch family member chasing Hisui around. The idea is likely to capitalize on Shiki being sick, with him being bedridden Hisui is now defenseless and Goto would act as an aggressor, very Horror Movie like. The Saiki last name was notable for being brought up in Red Demon God as well. He’s likely also connected to the classic Inversion Impulse incident from the past, although in what capacity is unknown.
We don’t have too much on him but he certainly feels more antagonistic than anything, however I feel he also gives the vibe of not being pure evil somehow. The anthology mangas have him show up on very rare occasions and he can be rather goofy at times, he gives the vibes of a more complex antagonist.
Hard to get a read on him with so little known though, we don’t even know what plans he has, all he does is antagonize Shiki constantly. One of the biggest question marks imo
Alright, thanks!
Other question, that's more for Tsuki in general since it's a scene that's in both version:
What happened during the dog nightly incident, when Shiki first glimpses the mid-boss Vampire (Vlov or Chaos)? Bounded Field that he bypassed through his Nanaya blood but affectes everyone else? Or something else?
