Well, one of the KT start up messages was that Nrvnqsr was originally planned to only be mentioned in Tsukihime, not to actually appear in it.

Day 8: Eyes of Death Perception II

Shiki dreams of his childhood. He wakes up late. Hisui is not there to wake him up like usual. Still, he's late and gets up quickly.

His feet take him to the living room without thinking. Akiha and Kohaku are there like usual. Akiha is still upset about Arcueid from the day before and demands an explantion, asking if they had sex.

Shiki tries to clear up his what his relationship with Arcueid is, but cannot tell the whole truth. He eventually says that who he dates is up to him, and Akiha shouldn't be concerned with it. Akiha is upset and gets up and leaves. Kohaku chides Shiki for his rudeness but follows Akiha.

As Shiki leaves for school, a man in a suit approaches him, asking him for questions about the recently returned male heir of the Tohno family. His name is Andou Yuugo, a police officer. Together with him is a young blonde foreigner (Mario), who chides Andou, correctly identifying Shiki as the heir.

Andou wants to know about the recent fire. Apparently the land which collapsed in during the incident was owned by the Tohno family. Makihisa had bought it some years ago for an inordinate sum, only to construct a park on top of it.

Shiki says he know nothing about it, and declines to bring up the matter with his sister. As he's leaving, Mario harshly warns him to stick his nose out of business that doesn't concern him.

In class, Shiki idly ponders his double-life, wondering how he can so calmly go to school while hunting vampires at night. As he looks out the window, he spots a familiar face outside. It's Arcueid.

He rushes out of the classroom and confronts her, dragging her back into the bike space. Arcueid says she was around the area to investigate and felt like dropping by. Shiki tells her to get out before she gets spotted and she eventually obliges.

During lunch break, Arihiko and Shiki talk. Shiki asks if Arihiko knows some places that are considered dangerous around town. Arihiko says he's heard about an abandoned hospital 2 stations away in which a group of yankees disappears some years ago.

Shiki decides to drop by the place on his own after school, but even after breaking in through the barbed wire, finds nothing of interest.

When Shiki returns to the mansion he's greeted by Hisui. Ahika has yet to return. Shiki is about to head for his room when Hisui calls him back. She asks if Shiki is going out tonight as well, which he affirms. Hisui proposes to help him cover up for Akiha, as well as lending him a new passcode for the front door.

Shiki arrives 10 minutes late in the park, to which Arcueid is upset. She has been waiting since 7 o'clock. Shiki asks why, and she confesses her mind has been all strange lately, and doesn't understand why.

The two of them head out on their patrol, bantering in the meantime. Arcueid has 6 places she wants to visit, but the first 5 show no results.

When they get to the sixth location, Arcueid senses something in the basement. The two break into the building, in which over 20 of the Dead are waiting.

Arcueid tells Shiki to stay back as she ruthlessly tears the Dead apart with almost no effort. Half way through her breathing starts to get ragged and Shiki can't help to be captivated by the gory shit.

After disposing of the last Dead, Arcueid boasts about it to Shiki. However, in the corner of his eyes, he spots a strange being. It's a survivor, stranger than any of the Dead he's seen before, with the head of a spider.

It unfolds a multitude of tentacles and attacks Arcueid who has yet to notice the threat. She doesn't have time to counter and is blown back.

Upon seeing this Shiki snaps, taking out his knife and attacking the interloper. He easily cuts through the incoming tentacles and pierces the point of death on the Dead. It collapses.

Shiki runs up the Arcueid, worried about her injuries. She's holding her stomach in pain... from laughing. The creature did not scratch her, but she found Shiki's actions funny. Shiki is upset, but eventually starts to feel the strain of his eyes.

The two return to the park, done for the day. Arcueid once more brings up his eyes. She says that something like that is not something that just manifest because of some accident. There is something in his genes that made it possible, and in all likelihood, that applies to all of the Tohno family. Shiki finds it unbelievable.

Suddenly, Shiki notices a wet feeling on his chest. His old wound is bleeding. When Arcueid sees the blood, she gets clearly uncomfortable and starts to separate from Shiki, eventually leaving all together.

As Shiki is walking home, right before the mansion he spots a shadowy figure on the road. It walks up to him, and with it the street lights go out. In complete darkness, with only the lines visible, he feels the shadow attack him with a knife.

The two start to spar, though Shiki still cannot make out who or what the shadow is. He gets the upper-hand, but still cannot cut his opponent's lines. He realizes that the shadow can see them too.

Suddenly, a thin blade impales the shadow, sending it flying into a wall. Shiki looks up and sees a robed person above. It's his homeroom teacher, Noel, carrying a large spear. She throws a few more knives at the shadow, finishing it off, as it curses Shiki.

Noel approaches Shiki with dangerous intent. Shiki tries to brace himself for attack but is knocked over before he can think. Noel holds him down and checks him, but confirms no traces of vampirism, letting him go.

Shiki correctly surmises from her outfit that she is one of the Church's Executors that he's heard about from Arcueid. She wonders why he would follow a vampire around on his own will to which Shiki says he's trying to save the city.

Noel seems unsatisfied by the answer, and then warns him that the figure just now wasn't after him as Arcueid's minion. It was after Shiki. The vampire haunting the city might be closer than Shiki thinks, she warns.

After Noel leaves, Shiki tries to enter the mansion but is far too tired. He falls asleep outside the mansion, though just as he closes his eyes, a black leopard enters his view.

    Day 9: Death.

Shiki once again dreams of the scene from his childhood, with Akiha crying, and his hands covered in blood. A dead boy lies in front of him.

The adults are coming, they're panicked and ask if Shiki is the one who killed the boy. This is something his father forced him to forget.

Shiki wakes up. Once more, Hisui is not in the room to wake him up. Shiki thinks back to the events of the previous day. He is especially concerned about the shadowy figure that assaulted him. Still, Noel killed whatever it was, surely he no longer has to worry about it.

Shiki stands up and tries to leave for school, but his body fails him. He falls down onto the floor and loses consciousness.

When Shiki regains his wits, a worried Hisui is beside him. She did her best to help him, but recommends he see Dr. Arach for a more professional medical inspection. She recommends he take the day off as well.

Shiki agrees to let Dr. Arach see him. A bit later, the eccentric woman storms into his room. She's a bit disappointed by how light his symptons are, calling it waste of her effort. Shiki should be fine.

However, Arach is curious about the wound on Shiki's chest. She convinces him to take of his shirt and let her see it. She comments that the injury should've been serious enough to kill anyone, enough to kill even a monster. Shiki reels at the comparison, but stays silent.

After Dr. Arach leaves, Shiki is left mostly alone in the mansion, with both Akiha and Kohaku absent, and Hisui pre-occupied. Shiki decides to explore around the second floor to pass the time.

    DEAD END
Shiki comes across the former study of his late father Makihisa. He thinks back to what Arcueid said about his family the day before and so his curiousity eventually prevails. He cuts open the lock and enters the room.

It is unnaturally dark inside, with Shiki needing to pull out his phone light to see. He then notices the chains and steel bars that have been draped over the windows. He cannot imagine why, but it unnerves him.

He continues to look around, eventually spotting Makihisa's desk. He searches around and finds a locked drawer, which he opens with his knife. Inside is a genealogy of the Tohno family and a notebook.

Shiki notices most of the Tohno heads died unnatural and early deaths as he reads. He turns his attention to the notebook, which has many words scribbled out. There is something about his sister having inherited something unnaturally strong, even so, Makihisa writes that he is more worried about her brother.

Before Shiki can continue, a blade pierces his heart. His consciousness fading, Saiki Gouto admonishes him, regretful that Shiki could not spur on Akiha more until he had to be disposed of.

    END

Shiki comes across the study of his father Makihisa, he ponders whether to enter, but ignores it. Instead, he heads out into the yard. He remember a game him and his sister used to play. They would write their name on things to mark them as their territory.

He walks around, looking for the inscriptions. There are far more "Shiki" than "Akiha". At one of the outhouses, he finds an inscription at an unusually high place. "Be careful of your brother". Yet Shiki understands its not Akiha's handwriting.

Shiki spots Hisui at the corner of his vision. She is walking into the forest. Shiki decides to follow her. He eventually loses sight of her, but comes out into a large clearing.

The sight revives a deep forgotten memory in him. He sees it again, Akiha crying, a dead boy, his hands covered in blood, the screaming adults.

Shiki's wound opens up, his head starts feeling light and he rapidly loses consciousness.

Shiki wakes up in his bed to Akiha admonishing a regretful Hisui. She scolds the maid for failing in her duty in making sure Shiki would not end up like this. Hisui cannot argue back, and stays silent. Shiki calls out to his sister, trying to take the heat off of Hisui.

Akiha is relieved that Shiki has awoken. Its been many hours since he collapsed. As Shiki realizes the time, he remember his promise with Arcueid. Akiha however, refuses to let him leave in his current condition. Shiki eventually obeys, and agrees to stay put for the night, much to Akiha's relief.

    He falls asleep.

The way Saiki kills Shiki seems quite mundane. Also, he's clearly involved in Far Side shenanigans.

Shiki only ever sees her from behind. He identifies her as Hisui. Her clothing is more like Hisui.

    Day 10: Dark, Pallid Moon

Though having agreed to stay inside for the night. Shiki still sneaks out to the park to meet Arcueid.

Arcuied, first upset at his late arrival, quickly realizes his sickly state. Shiki insists he's fine, having lived with his anemia all his life. But Arcueid insists. Shiki is a person unbelievably close to death, more so than other people. His anemia is a sign from his body to rest, not something to overcome.

With Shiki is such a bad state, Arcueid urges him to return home and rest, to which he eventually agrees. Shiki returns home, trying his best not to startle anyone.

The next morning, Hisui wakes Shiki up like usual. However, there is something off about her behaviour. Nevertheless, Shiki continues on with his day.

Akiha greets him with unusual vigor, for once having nothing bad to say about him. Shiki finds it unusual, but is happy that things worked out for all of them, Akiha and Arcueid.

Kohaku sees him off, she looks guilty and says he looks pale. Maybe he should stay home. Shiki brushes it off and leaves.

At school, Shiki gradually starts to lose track of time. His memory becomes blurry, and during the 5th period, he collapses. Instead of a ambulance, a black limousine picks him up. But Shiki's consciousness is barely there.

Once at the mansion, Hisui offers to lead Shiki to his room. She props up his unsteady body by the shoulder. But Hisui is walking the wrong way. Shiki's room is in the other direction. She doesn't respond.

Shiki eventually falls into a dark room. His mind is fading. Something is wrong. Eventually, he stops thinking.

    END

For context, this chapter's title is 眩病月, with the reading くらやみづき (According to Ciel-sensei).

If anyone can translate this well, well, then they're above my abilities.

Wow, did not expect a bad end like this. No violent disposal whatsoever.

Day 10: Vermillion, Crimson Moon I

Shiki's wakes up, his tired body finally recovered. Right before his face is Arcueid. She had been very upset by Shiki after he broke his promise with her, and came to directly confront him, but found him sleeping.

She used her Mystic Eyes to fend of Hisui and has waited for him all this time. She proposes to make up for his absence, that Shiki accompany her during the day instead. Shiki agrees, internally realizes that it amounts to a date.

As they sneak out of the mansion, Arcueid confesses that she doesn't understand why she was so mad at Shiki. She never felt like this before and ask him if he understands why. Shiki says its because she's selfish. Arcueid gladly accepts the insult, happy about her new-found emotions.

As they walk away, Arcueid tells Shiki to turn away. Though confused, Shiki obliges. When he looks again, Arcueid has changed into a ribboned frilly dress. Shiki can't help but admit it suits her. Arcueid orders then Shiki to find something for them to do.

    Back-alley date
He eventually decides to take her to... the back-alley. He declares he's thought of a high-class hang spot. When they enter the back-alley, Arcueid is dumb-founded. Shiki says he wants to take pictures of her in the dress she fought Vlov with, to which she agrees. As Shiki looks on the photos on his phones he notices they don't reflect her, she's just become a smeared shape.

Arcueid, as payback, takes Shiki by the side and jumps up onto a nearby building. They enjoy the view for a bit but are interrupted by the the young middle-schooler who berated Shiki on the train. She says she attended the same middle-school as Shiki back when she was in first-grade. Shiki asks what she's doing up on the building to which she points to a tent. She's currently being a "NEET", while also on the run from her family. Shiki asks for her name, to which she responds that its Saiki Mio.

Arcuied and Shiki leave, spending some time at a department store.

He eventually decides to take her to the cinema. Arcueid doesn't seem thrilled by the idea but agrees. Shiki wonders how Arcueid knows about modern things if she's always sleeping. Arcueid says she absorbs knowledge before heading out on her hunts.

After the movie, Shiki is worried Arcueid found it uninteresting, but to his surprise, she was completely thrilled by the movie, a generic romance movie. Turns out her knowledge of the human world doesn't equate to experience.

The two go into a nearby food court, ordering some hamburgers. Shiki sees her eat, once again reminded of her bloodsucking. Arcueid reveals that while she doesn't need to drink blood, it is something more like pleasure to her.

Shiki asks about the vampire they are hunting. Arcueid is very reluctant, but eventually confides that his name is Micheal Roa Valdamjong. Cryptically, she says that his peculiarity as a vampire, is that he has none.

After eating, Arcueid says she wants to visit Shiki's school. Because of the recent homicide incidents, everyone has already left the school. The two break into the school, and visit an empty classroom.

Arcueid confides that she feels as though she has been broken ever since meeting Shiki. She usually never acts so emotionally. She says that most schoolwork seems so wasteful. Why do humans who live so briefly, spend their time so inefficiently.

Shiki says that for humans, just being alive is a purpose all of its own. He doesn't think much about whether things are fun or not. But by living on, he feels joy nonetheless.

Arcueid confesses it's been fun doing nothing all day. The two promise to meet in the classroom after everything has settled, just to spend their time doing nothing in particular once more together.

As evening approaches, Shiki proposes they start their nightly patrol early. Arcueid seems reluctant, but then tells Shiki to chase her to the park. Shiki runs after her, his breath ragged.

Arcueid still doesn't want to act, saying they should wait until 10 pm and fulfill their promise from the day before. Suddenly Shiki remembers he forgot to tell her about his encounter the day before, with the shadowy figure who attacked him, and Noel who saved him.

The story makes Arcueid gloomy. She explains a bit about the Church, and their Executioners. Among the Executioner's there is an even more special group known as the Burial Agency. They are especially extreme in dealing with non-humans.

Shiki wonders if they could co-operate, but Arcueid doesn't like the idea, especially if "that woman" is around. Arcueid is their enemy after all.

Shiki feels unconvinced. Arcueid is a good vampire, who doesn't drink blood. He could never imagine she'd do it. Arcueid ask if he wants to try. Shiki knows its a joke. But when Arcueid actually approaches him, he becomes uncontrollably scared. Arcueid grabs a hold of him, and wont let go. He screams.

A blade flashes through the dark, impacting Arcueid and separating her from Shiki. Three other blades surround Shiki, forming a barrier around him. It's Noel, now convinced Arcueid has revealed her true colors.

Behind her is Mario, who reveals himself to be her superior, recently assigned as the Church's representative in Japan. He forces Noel to fight Arcueid, threatening to reassign her just like her senior if she doesn't comply. Shiki looks on at the boy, who is using a pair of strange gauntlets to do something. Mario explains that it's a marionette technique.

Eventually, Mario calls Noel off, deciding instead to talk Arcueid down. Mario asks Shiki if he was scared, and though Shiki tries to deny it, he can't. Though she may act above it, Arcueid is still a vampire, an enemy to humanity.

Shiki gets mad and starts to scold the two outsiders. They don't understand his and Arcueid's bond. He insists Arcueid was merely joking. But Arcueid knows that's wrong. She takes off, leaving the park behind.

Shiki intends in following her cutting the blades maintaining the barrier around him. Mario says that words like that won't be enough to save Arcueid. She has to face her own problems. He offers to explain something about the vampire Arcueid is chasing if Shiki stays and listens, to which Shiki eventually agrees.

Mario explains that Roa is a man who sought real immortality, not the incomplete one vampires have. He can reincarnate into a new body after death, having the ability to keep his soul alive after it leaves his body. Until his next body grows up, they won't know they are Roa themselves.

In addition, Mario reveals that Roa can choose his next vessel. He will always target someone who, 1. has powerful family connections, and 2. has a special innate ability. He asks if it sounds familiar. Noel haughtily announces that Shiki is Roa, but Mario shuts her up. Mario is convinced that Shiki is not Roa, he has that intuition.

After the conversation, Mario seems content to let Shiki go, but Noel doesn't like the idea. Mario stops her and scolds her severely, after which her body falls over and starts twitching unnaturally. He tells Shiki to go after Arcueid.

Shiki searches around for her but doesn't know where to go. He eventually decides to visit the back-alley where they first met. As he gets closer, he feels death near, taking off his glasses.

As he enters the alley, he founds it painted with blood. He can hear Arcueid fighting the Dead. His heart starts to go haywire, his mind has a hard time bearing to see all the blood. Eventually he spots Arcueid, drenched in gore.

She stares at him with her golden eyes and he is transfixed. Shiki's mind becomes blood-red. He assaults Arcueid, who snaps out of her bloodlust. He straddles her beneath him, her beautiful figure driving him crazy. Shiki attempts to strip her as she weakly protests. He pulls out his knife.

He finally realizes what he's doing and stops, regret hitting him like a truck. Arcueid gets up but has no ill-will towards him. She explains her Mystic Eyes charmed him; it is no fault of his own. Shiki doesn't buy it, but can barely talk back.

Arcueid says they will never meet again, for both their sakes and jumps off.

I added the "back-alley date", which is an option you get when choosing where to take Arcueid.

It's a bit different from before.
