The only reason collapse4 exists is because collapse tags used to have the same blue colour as links unless specifically made not to, but a later update to something or other got rid of that peculiarity so it became more or less useless.

Ah yes, that was it. When Petri asked me, I didn't remember why I had added it so long ago...

As for making collapse4 something like like collapse2, that can be done when I get a chance.

Unfortunately making it so you can nest other tags inside it is impossible with how it works currently. You would have to put it in the [collapse=XXX] section, and that part can't accept bb code.

I just noticed, you are right! System=Fixedsys=TNR
and it appears to me tahoma is just slightly smaller verdana

who made the emotes? perhaps some new ones would be fun, but i have no skills to make new ones

tahoma and verdana are technically different fonts, but they were made by the same team and have very similar glyphs

the main difference is hinting/spacing, and the scale factor (which makes verdana look larger and more spread out)

I remember making those extra miniature graphics for the collapse2/3/4 tags when I added the buttons to the editor (alongside tweet and pixiv). "Wtf am I meant to do to make this interpretable? ... IDK, I'm just gonna make them have different-coloured Xs, that'll do."

[img] is the only thing i tried so far, but using it is common knowledge for us
one has to mind the use of the spacebar at the start and end of the collapse tag

just noticed this one
with collapse3 you can do this for a long while, you just have to insert the same pics over and over until your jumpscare is shown. the most collapses in one go i have seen were in a recent sheet with 17 pics in a row

What's the difference between collapse 1, 2,3 &4? I just assumed it was something to stop them from interfering with each other by giving them different names. Like having a file be 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.2345.

Petri updated the guide and I have a whole blog about the use of collapse
coll1 and 2 are a trick to repeat the two values
A-B-A-B...
coll3 functions like coll1, but it only works in one direction
A->B
thats it
stacking coll3 is linear and easier to use
A->B->C
stacking the other two is a mess
1-2-1-3-2-1 or something like that
not useful at all and it gets even worse if you try to add more of them
coll4 is not relevant for now, because it could get changed soon

If you really wanted to do a CYOA you'd need something different, tbh. A form of collapse that collapses all others of the same type or something like that. Wouldn't be a particularly difficult bit of code, I think, but then again I don't know how vBulletin plugins work.
