Oh that's nice, they actually added a flashback with the first meeting between Ryoma and Oryou in this new chapter.
His design on its own is fine, but he's not my type and I'm not into the artstyle

I don't think it's that deep. He couldn't even keep mooncancer on theme and the class has literally one rule.
I just find it obnoxious when fandom gets anxious to stuff everyone into whatever special new class is revealed because they want the servant to come off as more special
Foreigner was also supposed to be the class reserved for things related to eldritch gods, until he went with some Servantverse characters are Foreigner because they're aliens.
Tbh the reason I think Lancer Ryoma can be a Pretender is because they can just go with the argument of he's from Servantverse which works in a different way, making him eligible for that class.

But that's pretty much how it always go, create limits or restrictions in settings but then finding ways to bypass them.
Stretching the MoonCancer Class could be interesting. Instead of just a BB and friends Class, it could be Servants that are a threat to the Moon and stars itself, contrasting the Foreigner Class as a Threat from the Stars.
All the mythological and historical characters that hunted the moon, caused eclipses, caused the mystery of the sky to evaporate over time, etc. could fall into this Class.
I think the conceptual expansion of a Class is an interesting aspect of the world. Saber now has fists in it, Lancers have chains, Archers are just Archers tho /s.
In our circle the Voyager Class became its own thing now, more than just someone who traveled a lot.
Also, I don't think Foreigner was supposed to be a HPL Class only. The theme of EoR was fantasy becomes real, so there can be other constructs that can become eligible as a Foreign Entity. Sadly HPL is the only one that is truly developed.
I like how in the Servantcreation circle the idea of "too foreign to human nature" is a category of the class. Lady Vanatos made Francis E. Dec a Servant, a crazy conspiracy theorist that said the weirdest shit online and about a computer god. He is not even connected to an eldritch being, but he thinks he is, so perhaps it is true. I made an...infamous servant that is Foreigner because the world itself scorns him as not even human. Wyvern made Thomas Hobbes' Leviathan a demon and pinetree did something similar with the Boogeyman.
The class is has great potential, but TM doesnt use it.

After checking, yeah, the Foreigner definition doesn't exactly say that only those with connection to the Outer Gods are eligible, but it seems that's what all writers are doing for this class in Fate, excluding Servantverse and Voyager who's a big exception since it's the closest to the Voyager class that doesn't exist in FGO.

Oh wow, the artist of Shinbei has done some great FGO art. Instant follow.
My entire TL is in despair, it's honestly wild.
I don't get it, were people seriously expecting them to be playable?
Yes and no? It's basically accumulating backlash from the fact that there's only been 3 male servants this year (four if you add the Ryouma next week), and Takasugi in particular has had a lot of nice showings in the event and a very pleasing design.
So having the truth splashed in your face is depressing no matter how much you expected it. I think people were holding out hope that at least one of them would also be coming out with Ryouma, I myself didn't but it's still sad.
I mean, hell, even Wada is crying over it lol

I very much doubt that's going to happen
