I am starting to get really tired of the timelocks they put in events. This event is the best example of how much they're starting to suck for me. They block farming progression too early and they are put in places of the story that make no sense at all to add one for adding intrigue to what will happen next day or to allow people to catch up.
I will say, even as someone who likes time-locks for story reasons, I feel like this one is quite strange. Adding a time-lock to lottery events feels bad.Originally Posted by Oz1337
Time-locked lottery events have always been around. This one's on a bit of a pickle since only 10 days.

The narrator ponders the concepts of Christmas and Santa. It is something which comes after Halloween. Presents are given, there are reindeer. It resembles something... you know, a magician!
Liz and Skadi are talking about magicians. Liz isn't talking about what those stuffy mages of the current era mean, but rather those of fairy tales, that create carriages out of pumpkins and make dresses for princesses. Like her Master during Halloween! Kinda like Santa.
Skadi catches the drift. She can do something for Christmas. But Skadi doesn't know too much about it. Christmas, Christianity, the Messiah... She catches sight of Martha. Skadi ascertains that Martha is tired and asks why.
Martha had been trying to lecture Mordred and Caenis over their various misdemeanors. Skadi listens, and realizes this is her moment to do something magician-like. LEAVE YOUR TROUBLES TO SKADI! Through the power of the runes, Martha is to be reborn! (for a bit)
Protagonist runs to the scene, finding a slightly shrunken Martha. Skadi calls her Santa Martha, having fiddled with her Saint Graph as to make her a bit younger, like Alexander or boy Gilgamesh. As Martha was tired, she just made her younger to refresh her.
Of course, this also means Martha is this year's Santa Claus, responsible for the success of Christmas! (Guided by Protagonist)
But Martha doesn't know much about Santa Claus either, as she's too young to access that knowledge in her Saint Graph. They should probably ask someone about it.
I usually wait till the whole story and nodes are unlocked b4 playing anyways so it doesn't bother me. But it is an annoying trend and I see it in some other gacha games I play as well (some of them just started doing it recently, to make you come back for a bit of content daily).
And that's the main issue here. Events nowadays usually follow this format for node releases for each day.
- Access to the worst farming nodes for mats on the first day, one for each mat.
- Access to a node with all mats, but still bad drop rate.
- Access to the best node for bronze.
- Access to the best node for silver.
- Access to the best node for gold.
- Access to a node with all mats with better drop rate than the first one, best one for unique mats (for either points or this lottery for example), both or the two combined.
Meaning that in reality the event doesn't truly start until two days later, but for lotto the most important one is the last one so it's even worse they timelocked the farming nodes due to how little this event will last.

This event is the first one that has both unlimited lottery and abridged event time, right?
No minute singularities? No crises and/or antagonists? Just Martha and co. having fun?
Then again, it's understandable since no new Servants to take antagonist's role.

Shame how short the event is given that it's a lottery event, meaning you're forced to use Apples since you can't take your time with just natural AP.
Too young to access that knowledge through her Saint Graph? Meanwhile Medea (Lily) knows everything Jason did to her.

(They needed some dumb reason for her to have this "Santa discovery" plot that they're pushing)
First they ask Santa Alter. She says it's obvious, but she'll spell it out for them: GREAT DIVERSITY. All kinds of Santas exist. I think therefore I Santa.
They then ask Jeanne Alter Santa Lily. She says she can't answer as she's still a trainee but recommends they look at the other Santas for answers.
They then ask Nightingale Santa. She immediately says Santa is not her specialty, but surely it must about DISINFECTION. That's all.
They then ask Quetz Samba Santa. She says Santa means Samba, thus Carnivals and she loves humans having fun! Santa Karna beside her says it is to pursue one's way, to become the strongest. Altera the San(ta) adds that putting it into one word, Santa is kindness, fun, cold, heart-rend... Wait, one word is too hard. Dumuzid then says it SANTA POWER.
Altera agrees, Martha's Santa Power hasn't gotten there quite yet, though she has the aptitude.
Protagonist and Martha are alone again, and so Protagonist explains some stuff about Santa to her. Martha feels like she understands better. That said, her only talent is cooking. In this shape she's a mere small-city girl after all. She doesn't have the ability to deliver presents and make everyone happy like a real Santa.
At this mention, from the shadows emerge EMIYA, Boudica and Tamamo Cat. They argue that she's still got what it takes to be Santa, after all Christmas is not just about presents, but a party as well. Martha lightens up, and for a party, a feast is required! That too, is a type of present.
Martha decides to give it a shot. The cooking servants will of course assist her. Percival decides to chip in as well, saying he's already got on menu-item figured out, a mash. As they're about to go get ingredients, Skadi interrupts, saying she's already arranged for it. Protagonist has a bad inkling about it.
Skadi boldly declares she put life into all the ingredients in the food storehouse, with all her might! It has now transformed into a Reality Marble-like space. Go forth, brave comrades of Santa! Into the untrodden lands of the food storehouse, and obtain the greatest of ingredients!!
With the event being shortened and all that, I really believed that they would unlock all the farming nodes immediately. Difficult to comprehend.

Node 1:
Beni-Enma understands their mission, she'll take care of the kitchen in their absence with help from Raikou. Boudica asks Martha to decide the menu before they get ingredients. Martha thinks something light to snack on would be good and so EMIYA suggests Stollen.
Martha Saint Graph once again makes her unable to understand what EMIYA means which causes Boudica to dote on her. Martha gets embarrassed when Protagonist looks, insisting she's still as mature as ever.
EMIYA explains what a Stollen is (german fruit cake) and they all decide to get going. Beni-Emna wishes them well and sends them off.
They arrive at the storehouse. It is wider and deeper than usual. The cold of the place makes Tamamo Cat nervous. Seems colcer than usual. Monsters appear and attack them. Martha prepares to make some food, and calls up Tarasque, who is now wearing chef's clothing.

Node 2:
The monsters are defeated. Martha treats everyone to her food. In the aftermath, a projection of Skadi appears. It will guide them to a more appropriate place. Mashu pops up as well, talking from the command center, she informs them connections will be cut as they go deeper into the storehouse. As such, Skadi has arranged for a guide.
The group is teleported to a wintery landscape through Skadi's runes. Before they can think, more monsters appear.

The candy golems are defeated. They drop some ingredients but Tamamo Cat eats them immediately. EMIYA understands what Skadi meant earlier. She quite literally has given life to the ingredients. If they patrol around the current area they'll collect enough for their Stollen.
A voice calls out to them. It's Gareth. She tells them to seek out to most delicious golems instead. She's their guide. Percival is happy to see her.
Gareth says this area is for candy and cakes. Though there are many candy golems here they could defeat, in its depths awaits an especially rare and delicious one. She'll guide them to it.
Node 3:
Gareth displays her chivalry in escorting Martha as Percival looks on proudly. Tamamo Cat senses something and goes running off. Gareth says that the direction they were heading for anyways. The golem is there, 'meditating' - wording which causes some confusion for Martha.
Gareth explains that it will turn back to ingredients if someone with permission approaches it. Quite different from how they were attacked. When confronted with this, Gareth is surprised.
Once again, more golems come attacking. Gareth asks them to turn into ingredients, but it's not working. The team prepares for battle once more.

Node 4:
The battle is over. Tamamo Cat returns, having found a golem sitting meditating cross-legged. It awakens, and approaches them. It appears to have gotten influenced by someone... (Munenori) It preaches of the results of its meditation, having awakened to the deliciousness of itself.
It challenges them to its ingredients, if they are worthy, they shall be given what they need for the Stollen. Gareth accepts the challenge, under Percival's guidance.

The rare golem is impressed, telling them to take its ingredients with them. The normal golems are envious of the rare golem, seeing as it is going to be used for a feast at a party. Martha intervenes, taking them as well. Boudica looks on dumb-founded.
EMIYA ponders a bit on the personalities of the ingredients, likening them to programs or a system. Skadi probably didn't provide them with souls, after all.
Gareth's role is over. She's still curious as to why the ingredients are attacking them though. Skadi said there wouldn't be any battles. EMIYA says they can ask her later once they get back.
Since I'll be using FGA and I'm kind of short on apples, I'll wait until the last 4 or so days before really going ham on farming.
I expected Martha Rider to get a buff but Skadi buff makes her very usable.

For Pete's sake, be consistent in the bullshit.
Too young to access knowledge of Santa or too young to access knowledge of Christmas? Cuz if the latter then it might be the excuse to not have her go on a tirrade about Jesus.
This event sounds rather cute honestly. Christmas is usually low stakes in the first place admittedly
